Frizzy hair - grrrrr!

I have shoulder length brown hair which is so prone to frizz. I can style and straighten it, then as soon as I go outside, it's wild and bushy Grin.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products I could use to get a sleek look?

I do not want to visit a salon. I do not want to try Olaplex, Brazilian Blow Dry or chemical straightening.

I just want your advice on wonder products that I can use every day / once a week.

Thanks in advance Smile.

I use Palmers Co-wash shampoo and then a Bumble and Bumble product.

I find the Co-wash doesn't strip my hair too much and so leaves it, I suppose just the right side of greasy (don't let that word out you off!) which means there's less frizz.

Def keeping an eye on this post! I like the baby shampoo suggestion. Just bought some sulphate free shampoo today as I'm at my wits end after seeing a photo of myself earlier 😩 frizz frizz and more frizz. I'm going to try a microfibres towel to dry or with tomorrow, see if that makes any difference. Frizzy problems eh 🙄

I use the curly girl method so conditioner only and no shampoo
The best thing that helps is getting product in to make your hair get a cast (so think 80s style crunchy curls!) then scrunching it out
This is what I get left with after scrunching out the cast. And don't be afraid of using product, I used a handful of gel and a double handful of mousse

Three things to suggest, a product line, a technique and ingredients to look for.

The products are Rahua- either the original or the colour care one (just because it’s so moisturising). I’d recommend shampoo, conditioner, daily drops, fine aging treatment and the mask . They really are great for smoothing. Cost an absolute fortune though. But they’re great to have around and use occasionally before a big night out/job interview/hit date/wedding when you want your hair to be on it’s best behaviour.

The technique is CWC- or Condition Wash Condition. After wetting your hair, apply conditioner through the lengths down to the ends (starting about 2-3 inches away from your scalp). Then go straight to washing your hair. Put shampoo in your wet hands, create a lather by rubbing your hands together, then apply the lather to your hair, first to the roots and the the lengths (you may need to do the lather making but a few times). Rinse, then condition.

Finally, the ingredients to look out for. If your hair is frizzy, it can be down to it evening dry (lack of oil) or dehydrated ( lack of moisture) or both. You’ll know from the Curly Gitl stuff about silicones causing build up means the hair underneath dries out. But to avoid the effects of that without going full-on Curly Girl, look for shampooing with hydrating ingredients like glycerine or aloe Vera (these shampoos tend to be opaque not clear) and a conditioner containing cetrimonium chloride rather than ‘cones.

Faith in Nature Shampoo and Conditioner is good for both the CWC and in respect of ingredients. As is their fragrance free conditioner.

I've been really enjoying the Inecto Coconut serum, it's only £2 normally as well.

maybeicanhelp - my hair is equally frizzy and I find that using some serum (or oil) when my hair is wet helps. But then I use a Babyliss Big Hair dryer to dry it with. It gives the impression of shininess and swishiness, which is lovely. It makes it less frizz-prone, although walking through fog is still a challenge.

Thank you all.

Still continuing with the baby shampoo and argan oil regime until the Olaplex 3 arrives.

There's a definite improvement.

I use the Babyliss big hair as well which is great for shine and swish as pp said but I have to use the straighteners on the top layer of hair otherwise it's still too frizzy for my liking! Holidays are the worst! I've tried putting conditioner through the hair but it's still horrible! I'm going to try the salt spray next. I have had the Brazilian blow dry in the past and it's good for a few weeks but then the frizz breaks out again! It's not worth £150.

Maybeicanhelp · 15/06/2018 23:34

The Olaplex has arrived!

Did a treatment last night, then used the baby shampoo and argan oil this morning.

Not seeing much of a difference, but will give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes Smile.
