notmypropername · 27/05/2018 21:49

We live up in north Scotland and don't have a store near us. I'm visiting friends in Manchester this week and they've mentioned a trip there... I'm weirdly excited!

Any must haves?

Daughter is very picky with tights, well most clothes really. Her tights for school, got the warm in
the winter cool in the summer ones. They wear and wear.£1 a pair and come in packs of three.Bought 57 pairs!!

Ellapaella · 27/05/2018 22:51

These shoes - every time I wear them everyone asks where they are from, £6 Primark specials!
Also the lacy trainer socks are amazing, they actually stay on your foot and don’t slide down.
The ankle grazer jeans are also great another thing everyone asks about - they are £13.
You have to be prepared to sift through all the tat but guaranteed you will pick up some great bargains. There make up is actually quite good too for the price.

First ever visit to primark tomorrow!!

*their makeup

Yvest · 27/05/2018 23:00

90p flip flops
Hair elastics £1
Trainer socks, 7 pairs for £1.80
Vest tops for layering £1.80
Tights
Socks
Packs of knickers
Tshirt bras if you don’t have huge boobs
Bikinis
Relaxed skinny jeans

I buy so much in there. You do need to search carefully but there are some real bargains

tigercub50 · 27/05/2018 23:05

I was going to mention the 90p flip flops! Lovely designs too like pineapples & flamingoes etc. I bought shorts with a lovely lace overlay for £4, a stretchy cotton dress for £5 & some linen mix trousers for a tenner. Also a vest top with wide straps for I think £2.50 ( can’t be doing with those shoestring straps anymore). Going again at the weekend for rest of DD’s holiday wardrobe.

WickedLazy · 27/05/2018 23:07

Give yourself plenty of time to really look around, they have loads of great cheap stuff. Sometimes if you look back about 5-10 t-shirts on a rack, you'll find other colours or designs, to those at the front (in our local one at least).

NorthernLurker · 27/05/2018 23:07

The Harry Potter pjs are fab

NameChanger22 · 27/05/2018 23:16

I bought a lovely pale green natural cardigan in there recently for £6.

I always buy - pajamas, vest tops, socks, underwear, jeggings, hair bobbles. In the kid's department I buy t-shirts, shorts, jeggings, slippers and hair clips.

I also like their home department and buy duvet covers, candles in tins and pots, cushions, pusheen stuff, wrapping paper. Cotton pads for eyes are 90p, but that's all I buy from the beauty stuff.

I never seem to find good dresses, coats, bags or shoes in there, I like to spend more money on these things.

SureIusedtobetaller · 27/05/2018 23:20

Vest tops, pjs, socks
Primark bedding is surprisingly good. And fairy lights.
Men’s t shirts for sleeping in or comfy clothing.

NellMangel · 27/05/2018 23:21

Oooh enjoy. Will you come back and tell us what you got? With pictures!

I usually get nightwear and kids clothes.

I've had some great cardigans that have lasted ages too.

Ariela · 27/05/2018 23:22

Personally I don't like their stuff, it's cheap it looks OK but it doesn't last.

I'm more of a charity shop person, my best buy was an all wool navy skirt suit for £1, looks fab on. I always go for quality and it lasts.

SaltedCaramelPopcorn · 27/05/2018 23:29

Gym wear is brilliant, leggings are really good quality, had mine for yours. Bought a lovely sleeveless linen shirt and while chinos today. Had some great beach bags too!

NachoFries · 27/05/2018 23:48

Do they have an floaty tops that are suitable for office wear?

coffeekittens · 27/05/2018 23:56

The beauty blenders are amazing!
Shoes I find brilliant but make sure you try them on.
I really like their bedding and towels, they wash really well.
I’m not mad on the clothes as I find them poor fitting and quality most of the time, but pick up the odd gem, don’t get suckered into buying stuff because it’s cheap.

LockedOutOfMN · 27/05/2018 23:59

I like their big pants (pack of three, they are on a hanger). Sizes come up big in those as I'm an XS (and really size 8 to 10 so S or M elsewhere...I don't like tight pants!)

Their scented oils with diffuser sticks to gently scent a room are fantastic. We have the lavender and sea salt ones for the bedroom and they smell gorgeous and last for ages.

Towels are great and sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are good too. Get the 100% Egyptian cotton ones (not the very cheapest).

DCs like their Harry Potter stuff - stationery for school and the pyjamas which have washed and lasted well.

Also their wrapping paper is dirt cheap and a decent quality (although I'm trying not to use it anymore for birthday gifts and definitely not at Christmas after I've used up the current stash...which was bought in 2016! Either I don't give many presents or these rolls of wrapping paper are like Mary Poppins' bag).

OutsideContextProblem · 28/05/2018 00:03

Sports kit is great - cheap enough that you can wear a fresh set every day and wash at the weekend. Probably really full on marathon runners wouldn’t find it adequate but it works for me.

Harry Potter stuff is great for kids and middle-aged Ravenclaws
PJ’s are good.
Basic short-style knickers are good
Fleece-lined tights are good for school wear if they stock them at this time of year.

NachoFries · 28/05/2018 03:36

Those who mentioned bedding, does Primark have plain white Egyptian cotton bedsets?

notmypropername · 28/05/2018 07:13

Oooooo so exciting!

Ok so my list is ready

Hoodies
Sleepwear
Beauty blenders
eye liner
Strapless bra
Flip flops
Socks
Pillow cases

Will also have a good dive through the clothes.

One major issue is that I have my 4 and 7 year old with me. I will take something to try and bribe them with xx

I'm just outside of fort william xx

PlumsGalore · 28/05/2018 07:21

We consistently buy £9 skinny jeans and £3 leggings here, year on year.

PlumsGalore · 28/05/2018 07:28

Egyptian cotton bedsets? I doubt it, the average bedding set is about £11, not sure even with their child labour they could produce bedding with a 600 thread count cheaply. They are quantity and definitely not quality all the way.

NukaColaGirl · 28/05/2018 08:16

I love their seam free gym wear. It’s amazing.

ChippyMinton · 28/05/2018 08:29

My list would be
Miscellar cleansing pads in a pot £2
Cotton buds, have paper sticks not plastic
Vest tops
Disney / character stuff - look at the quality though. Socks, PJs, tshirts etc
Kids clothes

DevonshireCreamTea · 28/05/2018 12:32

There is a Costa on the top floor treat the kids to a smoothie/cake afterwards.
