Tall good quality non-frumpy dresses

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy good quality dresses for tall women?
I am so fed up of waists around my rib cage and indecently short hems.
I am looking for tall dresses that are stylish and good quality. Do they exist? Many tall ranges are made from very cheap man-made fabrics or a bit frumpy...
I like Whistles, Jigsaw and LK Bennett and looking for similar style and price point.
I am looking to get a couple of casual dresses for summer and a couple of smart dresses for the office.
Any ideas?

That’s good to know, I haven’t had to return anything.

&OtherStories might be worth a look.

@Shantotto 👍🏻 I feel a shopping spree coming on!
@Beasmamma yes! I bought some from there for a dressing up day at work and they were really long! Don't want to spend much on work clothes anyway!!

Apricot does nice clothes!

Cefinn might be a good option, especially the maxi dresses. Clothes seem to be cut for taller women. I’m 5’9” and feel comfortable. Fabric is often machine washable and crease resistant. Love the simple designs too.

Damsel in a Dress are good for tall people (I'm 5'10") but not cheap. They were recommended to me by a fitter in John Lewis as having good proportions for tall people and she was right. Their website also (usually) tells you the height of the model in the picture which I find a useful reference point for hemlines.

Seasalt now do longer length in some styles (although still not larger sizes in shoes Angry). Some of their styles probably might fall into your frumpy category but material is nice.

Have a look at the Toast Lydia dress available in short sleeved and sleeveless version. I am 5ft 8 and it comes about 2 inches above my ankle. They are very proportionate and flattering in a good weight material. I've had mine for 4 years and looks as good as new. Size down a size.

I've recently bought a midi length dress from oasis this and it has a ruching to the waist which helps disguise my worst part (stomach) and I'm a pear shape too. I quite like a few oasis things this year though they probably won't wear that well.

I'm 5'10"

Watching with interest - just returning an Oasis dress from John Lewis because the waist is just under my boobs. Would really love a summer dress with sleeves as well.

Baukjen do properly long vests, good quality.

I am 5 ft 10 and also have the same problem with the added difficulty of having a arthritic ankle that is constantly swollen so I cannot wear anything short as I basically have two different legs. and I am very self conscious of it.I have started buying a lot of maxi /midi skirts and team them with a fitted tee in order to avoid 'the waistline under the boobs look'.I often buy the skirt a little bigger so that they sit on my hips rather than my waist to avoid the bunched up look.I have big boobs but a defined waistline so this look helps give me some shape .Shift dresses make me look massive.

I’m glad this was posted. I’ll look at some of the links later.

I’m not super tall, but I am long in the body so know the pain of the waistband being under your boobs.

Misty9 · 26/05/2018 10:41

I take it back about the oasis dress - just tried it on again and the waistband is indeed too high and the midi doesn't fall in the place on my calves. It's going back :(

Polly1977 · 26/05/2018 10:45

I’m 5ft 10 and often just go for midi length which means it’s below knee. Have good dresses from Gap/Dorothy Perkins/misssfridge/primark/H&M. Mind you I don’t go for top knotch quality! But midi is def way to go!
