Tell me what "wonder" products you've been disappointed with...

I bought some Elizabeth Earle Cleanse and Polish recently. It was okay I guess but I was expecting so much more given the hype.

I had some de Mamiel Rosey lip balm for Christmas after my friend read about it being the best on the market somewhere. I don't find it any better than my Nivea stick which I picked up from the £1 shop. In fact, if I wear de Mamiel overnight, I wake up with really dry lips in the morning.

I can't get into Aussie shampoo either. I find it incredibly drying.

So, what wonder products have you bought that you've been underwhelmed by?

Liz Earle cleanse and polish
Clinique take the day off
Eight hour cream
La Mer anything (except the gel moisturiser that they no longer make which was brilliant)
Mr Big mascara
Effet faux cils
Recently persuaded into buying something a lemony cleanser from space NK which was like cheap washing up liquid but apparently much raved about (Dr Jackson something)

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2018 21:35

Maybelline great lash mascara. Utter rubbish.

applesandpears33 · 22/05/2018 21:48

Clarins beauty flash balm. Did absolutely nothing for me.

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 23/05/2018 09:28

Hylamide glow,
Wanted to give it a shot as an alternative to clarins drops but omg the smell, couldn’t even get past it to try it on my face.

threefeet · 23/05/2018 09:35

Nars Sheer Glow.

CharlotteTheCharlatan2 · 23/05/2018 10:43

I got some Clinique Take the Day Off in a bonus bag. It's really shit at removing make-up Hmm

Any of the Benefit products I have tried - the mascaras flake and smudge, the lipsticks are really scented and taste awful, brow products are okay but they are not spectacular.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - I didn't notice it doing anything.

By Terry Baume de Rose - it's not a very good lip balm and the scent is very strong.

YSL Volupte Shine lipstick - the taste and scent is so bad that I don't care if the product is good.

Tom Ford lipsticks - they are really expensive and I've found them to be patchy. At that price, I'd expect them to be significantly better than cheaper products.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara - smudges on me in less than an hour.

CressyBessy · 23/05/2018 11:35

Urban decay Naked eyeshadows - I don’t know what the word for it is but they break up and go powdery when you use the brush, instead of sticking together?!

CressyBessy · 23/05/2018 11:36

Alpha H liquid gold

Elemis marine cream - no better than Botanics!

Aridane · 23/05/2018 11:48
  • Elasticiser
  • touche eclat
  • the Clarins flash balm thingie
Ifyoubuildit · 23/05/2018 11:53

Another sucker here

  • lumity vits - made my eyelashes longer but that was it.
  • advanced night repair
  • pro collagen marine cream
  • liz Earle cleanser
  • Paula's beauty retinol booster
  • the famous boots serum

I quite like the ordinary hyluronic acid though...

OldJoseph · 23/05/2018 14:38

Any volumising hair product.

AdriannaP · 23/05/2018 14:43

Bobbi Brown Foundation - I will go back to using maybelline New York and spending £20 less!

AdriannaP · 23/05/2018 14:43

and definitely touche eclat!

LibertyBlue · 23/05/2018 14:58

Chanel nail varnish is terrible!

Le Labo perfumes - can’t understand the fuss

That bum bum cream. It’s just greasy body cream??

Hourglass lipsticks- not worth the money

Yep Eve Lon cleanser is good but should cost 99p as the ingredients are cheap as chips (basically Vaseline)

LibertyBlue · 23/05/2018 15:00

Oh and Jo Malone is totally overrated and overpriced. I like some of the fragrances but the quality and longevity is poor. Not worth £90 a bottle

TimesNewRoman · 23/05/2018 15:07

8 Hour Cream
Clinique 3 step

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 23/05/2018 15:54

Ah here now, I won't hear a word against 8 hour cream.

(I am basically held together by 8 hour cream these days.)

Yesiamhappy · 23/05/2018 16:26

I like 8 hour cream too

Beauty flash balm - no idea what it’s meant to do but does nothing for me

Chanel nail varnish - agree - rubbish - chips so easily

Naughtysausage · 23/05/2018 16:32

Another one for the pixi glow tonic. No idea what it did.

Those spot patches. Basically blister plasters for spots. People rave about them. I obv have the wrong sort of spots.

GiantPandaAttacks · 23/05/2018 16:45

No7 mascara. Like i've got nothing on.
Alpha H liquid gold. Bought me out in spots.

MrsSpenserGregson · 23/05/2018 16:48

Clarins beauty flash balm - just dries out my skin - seems to be a common one on here!

Clinique moisture surge ironically sucks all the moisture out of my skin (on the other hand, I love their Dramatically Different moisturiser in the bottle - the yellow one)

Every single lipstick in the world ever. They all give me dry, flaky lips with a horrible crust along the middle of my bottom lip. I have tried them ALL !!!! Even the moisturising ones.

Loreal Mineral makeup - supposed to be hypoallergenic - the only face powder that blew up my eye and cheek so I looked like the Elephant Man for days....

keepingbees · 23/05/2018 18:14

The MUA make up range in Superdrug, ok it's super cheap but everyone raves about it. I thought it was rubbish. Also think the same about the Revolution range.

Tigi hair products, their shampoos are mediocre, and their hairspray and leave in conditioner are awful.

Max factor make up generally, especially their foundations.

Aussie shampoo/conditioners are nothing special at all.

I had samples of Clinique cleansers/toners and were nothing special at all.

Matis professional facial products, I used to work with these products and hated the range. Greasy, heavily perfumed, awful.

Mamaohana · 23/05/2018 18:26

Head & shoulders - actually made dandruff worse.
Cloud 9 straighteners - same as Remington but much more ££££
Estée Lauder double wear eyeliner- smudged immediately
Yes again to all Benefit being 💩

MadMaryBoddington · 23/05/2018 18:52

Eight Hour cream - greasy and disappointing.
Eve Lom cleanser - ditto
