What do you wear in the office if you don't want a formal jacket and find plain cardigans dull and depressing?

I've recently started a job in an office which is warm enough most of the time for a short sleeved dress or top, but need a layer for when the air con blasts or I nip out for a nicotine break. I don't wear a suit, and don't like blazers or formal jackets. What could I wear that isn't a really boring cardie?

Autumn natural gamine btw for those who believe in such things...

TIA!

Iv recently started to wear cardigans but in mad colours it brightens me up

Cardigans dull and depressing Shock I like them either cropped or ginormous and down to my knees.

I second jersey jackets and chanelesque knock-offs. I also like a tailored jacket but I never wear them with anything that matches. Kimonos look lovely on the hangar but I find them too droopy and shapeless on me.

I wear a lot of wraps. I've got a whole collection of thin material, thick material and ones that I knitted / crocheted myself.

(Also have a mini hot waterbottle that I fill up from the coffee machine and put on my lap if it's really cold!)

I used to wear suits daily (high level corporate) but these days am most often in a cotton/cashmere knit and a ponte pencil skirt. Warm enough for most weather (with a wool coat or down jacket in winter for commuting.

I should add by knit I dont mean cardigan, I mean usually a v-neck jumper (a la uniqlo)

What about a lightish weight short poncho? Or an open heavier weight shirt? There are a few cotton khaki shirts around...

I wear this or similar to work - looks more casual than a formal jacket or blazer

Ooh another tip is to google "boyfriend" style jackets. I have one from DP and it's much looser and flow-y
