Has anyone had a mile removed from their face?

For vanity reasons?
I'll obviously have to pay privately as it's for vanity but I have two bobbly type moles of my face and I absolutely hate them. They are getting more 'bobbly' with age and my DD lovingly calls them my 'witches moles'!!
I'm obviously worried about scarring and the healing process as they are on my face.
Has anyone had this done and how much is it likely to cost? I imagine I'll have to go to a local private hospital. I'm in Essex.

I have
I had a mole on the side of my nose as a child, it was removed through being cut and the edges burnt (not sure of proper name)
The scaring was worse than the original mole and a couple of years ago started getting larger - like yours was bobbly and my kids would call it a wart :( , I went to a plastic surgeon to have it removed who advised against me going private to have it done due to it changing size/shape he would need to do a biopsy and said I would be better off on the NHS in case the biopsy came back with anything other than normal.
My GP referred me and the surgeon insisted on removing the whole thing and completing a biopsy, apparently if they remove part they may as well remove the whole thing for the biopsy. The mole was just over half a cm in diameter and I now have a 1 inch scar on the side of my nose.
I went in for a day surgery, had a local anaesthetic. Honestly, it hurt more than I expected after surgery, to start with due to the cut and bruising, then as that faded the stitches got tighter, once they were removed 10 days later the whole area felt much better.
Since then I have been having needling on the area once a month (privately) to reduce the scar and that has helped massively. I know the scar is there, but most people don't notice unless I point it out. I imagine if my face was tanned it would show more - but i'm terrified of wrinkles and use factor 50 daily!!
luckily the biopsy came back negative for anything nasty, it was just a mole with scar tissue over the top causing the lumpiness.

My mole was very flat against my face, like a raised mole but fully attached unlike a skin tag or moles that are held on by a little bit if that makes any sense at all so it may be that my scarring is bigger/procedure worse than what yours might be if the moles aren't covering a large surface area. If the moles are changing shape though i'd certainly talk to your GP first

I had a flat mole removed from my nose a few years ago, I kept getting a pinprick pain in it so got referred by my gp. The chap I saw took it off there and then, the injection to numb the tip of my nose hurt like he'll but it was quick and only left a tiny scar which faded quite quickly. That was a relief as I've had keloid scars before which have been difficult to get rid of.

I had a mole removed near my eyebrow about twelve years ago. I was having a bit of trouble with it so my GP did it at the surgery.
After the athletic wore off, it throbbed like hell for a couple of days and I struggled to sleep. I had a stitch in it which they removed a few days later and then I was fine. Scarring is absolutely minimal.
Good luck!

Hi, I haven’t had a mole removed from my face but had lots removed from my body for vanity reasons. I went to a private clinic in Nottingham called Zenith, google it!! They use a technique called radio surgery where there is no scalpel or stitches required and the results are amazing, there are lots of before/after shots on their website. Recovery is v quick and painless. I’m so glad I had mine done. Good luck 😉

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 15:03

Thanks all. Aml Ah, that’s put me off a bit! I’d have no hesitation having them removed from my body but on your face is a worry if anything goes wrong. I’ve asked my gp but they won’t refer me on the NHS, I’ll have to pay myself.
I can put up with a bit of pain/discomfort but I’m worried if the scarring is bad or worse than the mole itself or if I get an infection or something awful. Not sure what to do but I detest them!

They look like this, only not so big. I’d be happy with that type of scarring, it’s a bit of a lottery though?!

Has anyone had a mile removed from their face?

Two of my friends have had facial moles removed, yours sounds much the same. One was bigger and on her cheek, not very noticeable red mark there now but it was only done a few months ago. The other, on her chin, was a tiny bit pink and quickly faded to no mark at all. You can’t see that there was anything there.

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 15:25

Thanks sir, that’s good to know. I can handle a red mark, easier to conceal than a chocolate raisin stuck on your face!!
I’ve just been looking on YouTube at laser removal, didn’t know they could be removed that way, anyone had them removed by laser?

Following as I'm really interested in getting mine removed too.

Perfectdayx · 11/05/2018 15:37

I’ve had lots removed from my face over the years including five before I got married. Some have been shaved off and some required stitches but the scars barely show. Well worth it!

Freshprincess · 11/05/2018 15:49

I had one similar to the photo you posted removed. It was on the side of my nose, it was a lot darker than that. I had it removed on NHS, as it had grown and changed colour over a couple of months.
It was sliced off and then cauterised. Hurt a little bit after the local wore off but nothing too bad.
There is a little scar, but not particularly noticeable.

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 15:54

For those who had theirs done privately, how much did it cost?

Perfectdayx · 11/05/2018 16:00

The last one I had removed was a tiny thing on my forehead and it was just over £200 including the consultation. I had an appointment with the doctor and he said he could do it straight away.

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 16:12

Thanks perfect

I've been looking into this, seems 200-250 per mole is usual. Tried at docs they said no, it's cosmetic.

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 16:36

Same here troo, gp wouldn’t entertain the idea. I can’t really afford it but I hate them so much and want them off before they get any bigger!

I have a small flat brown one on the side of my face which never bothered me until recently - it has sprouted two black bristles which grow like billy-oh. I would happily pay to have it taken off.

Twoweekcruise · 11/05/2018 16:51

bejazzled I was talking to a lady the other day, her mole had a full goaty beard!!

two
Oh the horror Shock

If this gets any worse I'm having it hacked !

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 11/05/2018 17:26

Oh that's a good point, after the thing is removed do the hairs still grow then?

JackieReacher · 11/05/2018 17:30

I had one taken off the side of my chin; it was about 5mm wide and stuck out about the same. I went to a dermatologist about something entirely different and he said why not get rid of that and did it on the spot; a couple of stitches as was deep (Jesus the NOISE of it being cut out) and I have no scarring at all. The chap was I think Greek and at the hospital of St. John and st Elizabeth in London. I am very very pleased he suggested it

troodiedoo · 11/05/2018 17:42

I figure if you look at it from a cost per wear angle, it works out quite reasonable. Assuming you live for a fair few years after!

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 11/05/2018 17:50

@JackieReacher I'm intrigued by this. The noise of what? Skin ripping? Drilling? You screaming?

Mmm. Perhaps I don't want to know actually!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 11/05/2018 18:19

its a bit like the sound of cutting into polysterene with a knife Shock or at least it was when I had a funny angioma thingy taken off my cheekbone. not sure if it was an actual sound or jut a sensation but was not pleasant.
