Has anyone had a mile removed from their face?

For vanity reasons?
I'll obviously have to pay privately as it's for vanity but I have two bobbly type moles of my face and I absolutely hate them. They are getting more 'bobbly' with age and my DD lovingly calls them my 'witches moles'!!
I'm obviously worried about scarring and the healing process as they are on my face.
Has anyone had this done and how much is it likely to cost? I imagine I'll have to go to a local private hospital. I'm in Essex.

Hi, I had five moles lasered on my face at a private hospital about two years ago. Best decision I’ve ever made ( appearance wise) as they were affecting my confidence.
It cost £1,000 for all five. I had one removed without anaesthetic and that was agony. I then had anaesthetic for the others. The only problem is that you can’t be out in direct sun for a good while afterwards so I regretted getting mine done in Summer.
Would definitely recommend it if you can afford it Smile

bubble I probably won’t be able to afford it till after summer, so that’ll work out well!

To go to a private doctor do I need a referral from a GP ? Or how do I find one?

Perfectdayx · 11/05/2018 19:33

My gp recommended a couple of surgeons and I contacted them directly.

I can’t really afford it but have a terrible fear that I may end up like the guy with the mole in Austin Powers Grin

I had several lasered off around 20 years ago. They were done at a private clinic but my GP referred me there and I didn't have to pay.

It wasn't a comfortable experience and the healing was horrendous. I left there with a roll of cotton wool, a bottle of white vinegar and a jar of Vaseline. Apparently this was to prevent scarring and several times a day I had to wipe the wounds with the vinegar to remove any healing skin and then apply Vaseline over the top. It was horrible!

Unfortunately one came back and I paid that time to have that removed, this time it was by cryotherapy and was a much easier experience.

I had one done. Got a private referral from GP. Was painless. I had a small scar initially which was still way better than the mole, now theres nothing. I had it done 3 years ago.

I have only just seen this post. I had a 'mole' like this, but smaller removed several years ago now from underneath my eyebrow and close to the curve by nose.
Mine appeared when I was a teenager and initially it didn't worry me too much but it was beginning to get bigger, made tidying my eyebrows difficult and when I looked a certain way it was in my line of vision. Also I was worried that as I got older more might develop (they haven't) as my mum has a couple on her face and my nan had them too.
I cant actually remember who my GP referred me to initially, but in the end I had it removed at my local hospital with a local anaesthetic by a Plastic Surgeon. All I can see now if I look carefully through a magnifying mirror is a small silver line like a little like a comma. The injection to numb the area hurt a fair bit and there was some bruising but the area recovered quickly leaving a tiny red scar which as I say can now not really be seen.

I had one removed off my forehead by a dermatologist. There is no scar, just the slightest discolouration that most people don't notice. I just wish I had done it before my wedding but I was too scared of the scarring!

Freshprincess · 12/05/2018 17:21

@Betsy86 that was what happened to me. I always had it on the side of my nose, it's where my glasses sit. At Christmas I saw a pic of myself and it was the first time I ever 'noticed' it. It had definitely got bigger and darker in colour. I went to the GP straight away as I can get a bit anxious about health stuff hypochondriac I had a biopsy and all was fine. The dermatologist did a full body check as I'm quite freckly.
GP said that changing hormone levels as you get older can cause them to grow bigger. Although once you get past 40 GP blames everything on hormones.

Thanks all for your positive stories. I’m going to start saving and hopefully get it done at the end of the year, a little Christmas pressie to myself hopefully!
