This isnt quite the right hair colour for me is it? (Pic)

NC to protect my identity! Grin

Lots of grey coming through now so went to hairdressers 3 months ago to get a bit of colour done.

Specifically said I didnt want any warm, honey, caramelish tones done but thats what I got! :-S

Hair is naturally an ashy dark mousey blonde and the skin tone in this pic, believe it or not, is with a little added gradual tanner. Natural skin tone is of the blue- and pink-tinged deathly variety.

Im going back to get my roots done, but how shall I ask her to correct the colour? Should I take it darker? What do you think? I just think the current colour looks weird for some reason.

I think you look gorgeous and I wouldn’t change a thing.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 07/05/2018 05:52

I think it looks great and you are gorgeous.
It compliments your skin and eyes.
But if you are not happy with it, get it changed. It's perhaps just different to what you're used to. My hairdresser did the same to me and I tried to live with it as people said it suited me but I didn't like it either and thought it was too warm!

Hairynamechange · 07/05/2018 05:54

Wow thanks for the compliments guys!
@TheMasterNotMargarita maybe you're right although I did send this pic to my mum abd asked if it looked too brassy and she said yes :-/

You'd probably suit any colour. You don't need to 'correct' it but you can experiment with other colours.

Canwejustrelaxnow · 07/05/2018 05:58

It's great as it is. Definitely don't go darker if you have greys coming through.

Addy2 · 07/05/2018 05:58

I think it really suits you.

jugglingsatsumas · 07/05/2018 06:01

You look amazing. I wouldn't change it. Is this a stealth boast? Grin

N2986 · 07/05/2018 06:08

Op you look lovely (I always wonder what everyone really looks like Blush ). I had something similar done to my hair not long ago.

The only 'critique' I'd give is that it looks a little dry, so I'd get an opalex treatment done. I think it would look amazing after that.

You have to update on what you get done!

Hairynamechange · 07/05/2018 06:09

@Canwejustrelaxnow
Yes, thats the "sad" thing about going grey. Ive always been darker and now I'm almost 50% grey (at 31, WTF) I had to let go of that! Maybe thats what this is really about. Grin

OK guys thanks for reassuring me, I'll just get the roots done. Although maybe after the winter I'll try going over to the red side

@N2986
Yes, its absolutely parched and no products or masks make a difference. I think it may be smoking unfortunately:-/

Feed your hair from inside, avocados, coconut oil, oily fish.. that will improve the texture.

GreenItWas · 07/05/2018 07:01

D'ya know what? Red would suit you actually. Rich dark red. OMG yes. You are a beauty by the way.

Gatekeeper · 07/05/2018 07:01

I think it really suits you ( and what a grand.looking lass you areGrin)

Perfecto · 07/05/2018 07:04

I think it’s lovely as it is.

wowfudge · 07/05/2018 08:13

I had very dark brown hair naturally and am now at the point where I'm sick of colouring it so growing out the dye. If you want cool toned highlights the hairdresser could try highlift instead of bleach and toner. For me that got rid of the brassiness - my hair has yellow undertones and toner didn't last well at all on the bleached hair.

I started to go grey in my twenties and I'm in my forties now. I too have pale skin. Going lighter gradually has made the regrowth much less obvious and as I've said, I'm at the point where I'm happy to ditch the dye and spend the time and money on other things. I've also had lots of compliments on my hair over the last few months which have helped!

saison4 · 07/05/2018 08:19

Going against the majority - whilst your hair is lovely, I think the colour is way too warm for you.

Ellapaella · 07/05/2018 08:19

Well you are very pretty so doesn't really matter about your hair but I can see what your mum means about the brassy bits. You have some highlights there that seem to have come through too orangey. If you have any red tones at all in your hair and want to go lighter you need to use ash toned blondes rather than anything warm toned or it does go brassy. I think a good hairdresser could probably correct that for you, alternatively as some one else above suggested you could go a nice auburn.

Tattybear16 · 07/05/2018 08:21

The colour looks great, you could have red lights and tone added to your existing colour if you wanted. If you go totally red prepare for it to be high maintenance, as it fades really quickly. Colour saving hair products help, but the sun and hot showers bleed the colour out. I’ve been red for more than 5years and I love it.

MarshaBradyo · 07/05/2018 08:22

You look lovely but I think it’s despire your hair colour because you have a lovely face

Your hair could be a better colour - richer, darker I think auburn would look incredible

SleepFreeZone · 07/05/2018 08:23

You are beautiful and your hair is gorgeous.

AnaisB · 07/05/2018 08:26

It’s a beautiful colour. I’m not sure whether it’s a tiny bit dark for your skin tone - do you wear lipstick? A darker colour might make all the difference.

Surprised she did that lighter colour when you asked for no warmth, but as it’s not by your face I dont think it matters so much - you look lovely.

DavetheCat2001 · 07/05/2018 10:49

Off the subject I know, but what's the point of changing your name to protect id and then posting up a full face shot of yourself?

MissMary0fSweden · 07/05/2018 10:58

Dave
Because it protects the OPs previous posts. Obviously someone who knows here will recognise her, but they wouldn't be able to search out her posts on her giant piles etc

OP you're gorgeous but I do agree with you on the colour

maymai · 07/05/2018 11:06

It looks lovely, regarding the brassy comment though if you want it toning down that's possible, it's not at all brassy though.
