Fashionable Size 43 (EU) Sandals?

VanillaLatteAndCake · 06/05/2018 17:32

Ok, first time I've ever posted a thread, please be kind!
I'm in my early 30s and looking for a fashionable, comfortable flat sandal. I usually go for a gladiator style or similar and I find anything with a toe-post extremely uncomfortable. There are so many styles around which fit this description but my massive feet cause issues! I'm a 43 in EU sizing, depending on the shop this can be a 9 or a 10. (However if the 9 is described as a 42 then this is too small, has to be a 43.)
In the past I have been happy to wear a cheap sandal as long as it looked good and fitted however, over the past year I've come to realise that wearing a comfortable shoe makes a world of difference!
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Do large-footed sandals exist without being clunky and beige?!
I usually shop at high street stores such as Warehouse, New Look, Oasis and Next if that info is of any assistance?

Birkenstocks?

LostMyLunchMoney · 06/05/2018 17:39

I'm looking at these at the moment but I can't decide if they are going to look ok.

I shop in similar stores to you but my feet are dainty 42 Grin

Long Tall Sally have 25% off their shoes today.

samlovesdilys · 06/05/2018 17:47

Sounds like we have similar feet!! I have some fitflops which fit, and birks - both have a wide fitting which helps. My best though are my hush puppies, they are gladiator style and fit really well!!

VanillaLatteAndCake · 06/05/2018 17:51

Thanks, I've got Birkentocks but I havent been able to get along with them. I'll wear around the house a bit more and see if that helps. LostMyLunch they actually look nice, I'm going to take a look through that website Smile
I'm sure more shops used to cater for larger feet but there seems to be less and less these days!

Never thought about Hush Puppies!

I'm the same shoe size as you OP. Tried these on in an outlet store recently. V comfortable but eventually went for a similar model with a toe post

VanillaLatteAndCake · 06/05/2018 19:29

Thanks all. I now have many sandals in various online baskets! I have also found these in (whisper) Clarks www.clarks.co.uk/c/Bay-Primrose/p/261319344090 I think they will look much better on.

I am size 9 and narrow footed. I tend to buy from Clark's

TheClitterati · 06/05/2018 22:00

Take a look at Wolky:

TheClitterati · 06/05/2018 22:02

They are Dutch and go up to 43 or higher as standard.

I have these and love them:

My feet are the same size as yours and I have exactly the same problem. I am about to bulk order a scary number of sandals from FitFlop and exorbitant cost in the hope that at least one pair of them really is a 9/43, not an 8/42 with delusions of grandeurSmile

I got a super comfy, lovely pair of gold gladiator style ones from there last year which I lived in, but really need a black pair - so I ordered the exact same pair, same size in black and they were visibly smaller. Very annoying!

Apart from that, most of my shoes are either from Clarks (loved the Bonita sandals but they come up small and not keen on any of the others) and Next (but they've sold out in all the styles that I like which is v annoying).

Bishoplyn · 06/05/2018 22:14

Oh I have those too The Cliterratti and love them. They are so comfortable.

bookbook · 06/05/2018 22:22

I'm only a 42 fitting, but the most comfortable shoes and sandals I have ever worn are by think! They go up to a 43 - Not cheap though
They have some seriously weird stuff, but I am looking at these

TheClitterati · 06/05/2018 22:25

@Bishoplyn yes super comfy. I wore these all last summer and they still look as new. Amazing how many different colours they come in too!

Bishoplyn · 07/05/2018 10:05

Sorry my replies were so brief yesterday.
Yours and Evans are both worth a look.
Sometimes you can find real gems well reduced in TKMaxx and Pavers.
A large, local independent shoe shop close to where I am stocks a bit of a selection of 43 and 44. Don't know if that would work for you?
This shop stocks the Think brand mentioned up thread. I find their sizing a bit on the small side.
If I need something specific, my go to websites are Cinderella Shoes - they are based in Kildare but often do free world wide shipping - and Katie Long shoes.

Try just fab

RunningOnMusic · 07/05/2018 19:59

Try Ecco or Gabor?

BikeRunSki · 07/05/2018 20:04

I’m a 43 and was made up to discover that the biggest size Saltwaters fit!! It’s the 9 in their own sizing system, which they market as 41-42, but they fit me with room to spare!

FizzingWhizzbee · 07/05/2018 20:29

@BikeRunSki - really??? I've been lusting after saltwaters for ages and cursing them for being 'pretend' size 9s. I'll have to check them out!

BikeRunSki · 07/05/2018 21:32

Go check them out Fizzing, I was amazed. The lady in the shop said that the "Originals" come up slightly larger in width than the "Classics" of that helps.

BikeRunSki · 07/05/2018 21:33

Although, before you get too exited, I'm more a 43-sometimes-smaller, rather than sometimes-bigger.

FizzingWhizzbee · 07/05/2018 22:23

Well, I've ordered some to see - just don't tell DH!

BikeRunSki · 07/05/2018 23:54

Good luck!

Angryangryyoungwoman · 07/05/2018 23:57
