Fashionable Size 43 (EU) Sandals?

Ok, first time I've ever posted a thread, please be kind!
I'm in my early 30s and looking for a fashionable, comfortable flat sandal. I usually go for a gladiator style or similar and I find anything with a toe-post extremely uncomfortable. There are so many styles around which fit this description but my massive feet cause issues! I'm a 43 in EU sizing, depending on the shop this can be a 9 or a 10. (However if the 9 is described as a 42 then this is too small, has to be a 43.)
In the past I have been happy to wear a cheap sandal as long as it looked good and fitted however, over the past year I've come to realise that wearing a comfortable shoe makes a world of difference!
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Do large-footed sandals exist without being clunky and beige?!
I usually shop at high street stores such as Warehouse, New Look, Oasis and Next if that info is of any assistance?

I can vouch for the largest Saltwaters being a proper 9, and they're wide too.

FizzingWhizzbee · 10/05/2018 08:48

Well, it's a fail for me on the saltwaters. They were way too small. I'm really surprised - and gutted because they are lovely.

BikeRunSki · 10/05/2018 18:41

Oh boo. That is surprising - there is room to spare in my 9s, with my 43/42 feet.

Are you on the Long Tall Sally buy/sell/trade Facebook Group @FizzingWhizzbee. Lots of chat about big footwear on there. There is currently a survey on by a lady who is size 9/10 and is looking to start a fashion driven line of women’s big size shoes.

FizzingWhizzbee · 11/05/2018 17:40

I'm not, BikeRunSki - I'm not actually that tall (5'9"), it's just that my feet are disproportionately massive. It's a family curse. I've looked at them for shoes, but wasn't very inspired. I'll check out the group though - that survey sounds interesting.

I was gutted about the saltwaters. But they were just too small all round. I did have some luck - one of the pairs of fit flops I ordered fitted! Not with a massive amount of room, but they're fine and very comfy. Now to send the others backSmile

I’m only 5’8”, but I have a really long back and big feet. Also long arms and big hands, it’s like my legs forgot to grow. I have had much more success with finding clothes to fit properly since an MNer told me to think of myself as a tall person with short legs!

Gabor sandals often cheaper from Amazon are worth a look.

Madamfrog · 11/05/2018 19:11

Look at German websites, they have lots of choice in larger shoe-sizes.

VanillaLatteAndCake · 12/05/2018 10:57

Lots of good hints here, interesting to know about looking on German websites too.
My Clarks sandals fit in the length but alas I am also graced with flat feet and so the ankle strap was rubbing my ankle bone Sad I have however also had luck with FitFlops! These gold gladiators fit well and are comfortable plus if you sign up to newsletters, you receive 10% off www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/womens-view-all-uk/strata-mirror-gladiator-sandals-p-M15-301

There was a thread about Hotter Tourist Sandals recently. Their size guide suggests that their 9 is a 43.

LostMyBaubles · 12/05/2018 13:33

Where has this thread been
Im size 8/9 depending on store, tend to try 9s more often

Newlook used to be my go to but not bought shoes in a while
I need flipflops so will keep eye on here

FizzingWhizzbee · 12/05/2018 15:54

LostMyBaubles - my flip flops are Havaianas. They do some nice non-blokey patterns and colours in really big sizes and I've been really happy with the quality. They cost more than, say, supermarket ones, but mine are now almost 10 years only and going strong. They don't get heavy use, but still - I've definitely had my money's worth.

LostMyBaubles · 12/05/2018 16:07

10yrs old! Wow!!!

FizzingWhizzbee · 12/05/2018 17:06

Ha! Don't be too impressed - some people live in their flip flops, but I don't at all. I only wear mine a handful of times a year, in the garden and around the pool on holiday. Still, the plastics/rubber hasn't perished or degraded over time, which I'm pleasantly surprised about.

TheClitterati · 14/05/2018 11:41

ah I was just popping back to suggest Fit Flops - I'm trying to buy a pair now but their website it truly rubbish - I've had issues with it every single time.

I bought these - not so super stylish but I work from home and I stand all day & they are perfect to wear at my standing desk. I already have a gold pair.

They have lots of lovely shoes and sandals on offer at the moment.

TheClitterati · 14/05/2018 12:04

I actually wear a 42 in Fit Flops rather than a 43 - they must come up big at least in the sandals.
