Best face wash for 12 year old

My daughter is finally wanting to wash her face properly! I use Liz Earle which she has also used but she wants something more soapy that she can wash with rather than the cream. Is there anything gentle out there that would be good for her to use?
Thanks

My teen girls like this Olay one, highly recommended

This is quite a good article on ingredients to avoid, particularly for sensitive skin (just ignore links to her products!). blog.reneerouleau.com/sensitive-skin-tips-to-keep-skin-calm/

Useful link thanks Bagel

Eucerin do a face wash for spot prone skin that barely foams but is not drying and cleansed well. Dermo purifier, I think it’s called. There’s also one with blue writing by Eucerin but I haven’t tried it.

Tattybogle89 · 03/05/2018 03:37

La Roche-posay stuff is all fantastic

Bettyfood · 03/05/2018 05:53

My daughter of the same age uses Neutrogena and gets on well with it.

Simple does not "strip your skin". I've used the foaming face wash for 20 years and there is still skin on my face at age 42, and I am happy with it!

Sorry, OP, I've had two people recently try to sell me their "natural" products and try to make me feel insecure about my skin in order to do so.

OutofSyncGirl · 03/05/2018 13:14

I've just bought the Neutrogena hydro boost for my daughter to try from reading this thread.

trigger2 · 03/05/2018 13:31

I’ve got the hydroboost water cleanser, quite nice but a strong smell - if that’s likely to bother her ?

OutofSyncGirl · 03/05/2018 18:59

Well I'll soon find out I guess!

Twilight456 · 03/05/2018 19:04

The Dove beauty bar soap is gentle, foams really nicely and doesnt sting my eyes, i like thats its literally a bar of soap, i hate seeing a long list of ingredients on my products!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2018 19:07

DD uses a Mario Badescu enzyme cleansing gel, it's not foamy . She has quite sensitive skin but this is nice and soothing. (She takes her make-up off with BodyShop Camomile balm/lotion)

Any tips on how to get a 12yo boy to actually wash his face most welcome!

He is very oily skinned atm and looks grimy when he doesn't wash properly. He has lots of pimples and blackheads now but it still doesn't incentive him to wash more! Fed up of nagging him about it as it makes me worry I'll damage his self esteem, but he really does need to wash more!

I can thoroughly recommend Sam Farmer range. Gender neutral, inexpensive and effective.

allthingsred · 03/05/2018 19:15

My dd uses simple wash. But weekly uses angels on bare skin from lush.

I use it too it leaves my face really soft as well as smelling lovely

Goosegrass · 03/05/2018 19:16

My DD is a bit older and uses the Superdrug pure radiance one. Think it’s a copy of LE

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/05/2018 19:20

We use cetaphil. It’s one of the few things I can tolerate on my skin, doesn’t leave a film Hmm probably because it has such a tiny amount of ingredients. A lot of dermatologists recommend it to their acne patients when they use prescription creams.

Gender neutral, DS 14 is happy to use it.

teta · 03/05/2018 20:48

Roomba I use Acnecide face wash on my 12 year old . He has really oily skin with spots. He developed really massive spots on his chin during the Easter holiday and I put his big sisters Acnecide cream on them to dry them up. This worked brilliantly so I thought I would try the face wash to control his skin. You leave in on for 1-2 minutes and then wash it off. My 13 year old Ds with not so oily very fair skin also uses the Acnecide wash, but only as required if he has any spots.
I am having to remind Ds to wash his face morning and night still. So I’ve no idea how encourage them to do it themselves. I guess hormones and male vanity kick in at some point.

Rathkelter · 03/05/2018 20:50

Water

kikashi · 04/05/2018 09:17

I think it depends. If your DC has oily skin and breakouts then perhaps Cetaphil gentle cleanser which I have already said one of my DC uses. My son who has a mix of acne and eczema had been given Doublebase wash gel to try by the dermatologist - not glamorous but it seems to be helping. If your DC's skin is clear and lovely and they wear no make up then I agree with Rathkelter just use water. the problem is that many teen feel they should/have to use a wash.

I used to love Anne French cleansing milk when I was a lot younger , I loved the way the cotton wool always looked black after I'd used it

30Michelle · 28/11/2020 21:00

Oh my god! Did you ever have bad skin and get bullied?? Read it all now. It’s not about perfection, not about being different or going to extranets. It’s about self confidence and not getting verbally tortured at school. That’s far more damaging to children, peers can be cruel. As an adult if I just had a good wash with water my skin would be terrible! You must be very lucky, and not very switched on! There are also natural products that can assist.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/11/2020 21:08

If she’s into cruelty free products a lot of these products mentioned are still tested abroad.

I use Sainsburys basic facewash in the blue and white tube. It’s not fancy but cleans well. I have very oily skin and wear sunblock daily & it fetches it all off. Cruelty free.
