Anyone pay for weekly blow dry?

I'm crap at drying my curly hair, always have been. Just wondering whether to get a regular professional blow dry. Does anyone do this? What do you pay? Do you wash your hair before you go?

I don't but why not

Madonnasmum · 22/04/2018 09:40

15 a week round here. Up north. I've considered it too but in the end decided not to.

TheDowagerCuntess · 22/04/2018 09:44

BBH + GHDs means I don't have to.

But it would be lovely if someone else were to do it for me.

bosschick · 22/04/2018 09:55

Ooooh £15 a week would be a stretch. I'm up north too... think I'd do it for a tenner.

Thedowager - I have GHDs too but it still looks nowhere near as good as when someone else does it.

Loads of people I work with do. But I would find it a waste of money due to oily hair / needs daily washing

If your hair lasts - totally worth it to feel good everyday

Zoflorabore · 22/04/2018 10:00

North west here, my local one is £15 and I used to do this a lot. Worth every penny for me but money is tighter now so I find it hard to justify the expense.

I always watch them do it and then go home
and try myself and give up after 5 minutes.
It's all in the wrist action, the brush and the angle of the nozzle.
I get it all wrong!

If you can afford it op then I would consider it money well spent.

Madonnasmum · 22/04/2018 10:05

If I could get it for a tenner I would too, but 15 just pushed it too far for me!

LockedOutOfMN · 22/04/2018 10:09

I would love this but it's not available where I live in the mornings or on a Saturday after about 1pm (and I do sport on Saturday mornings). I guess I could go on a Monday after work and have crap home styled hair on Monday and good hair on the other days.

peachypetite · 22/04/2018 10:10

You could negotiate the price down if you wanted one weekly.

bosschick · 22/04/2018 10:11

Zoflora im the same! Try really hard to watch and learn but after 30 years of trying I am ready to admit defeat. Going to ring round places tomorrow, see if I can find one to do it for a tenner.

How often do you wash your hair?

TalkFastThinkSlow · 22/04/2018 10:15

The curly girl method advocates not blow drying. Let your curls tumble free!

sorry not helpful at all

Sabina21 · 22/04/2018 10:19

I pay around £12 a week here. I just can't get my hair to style the way my hairdresser can. I don't drink or smoke so it's my weekly treat. Also my highlights lasts longer this way.

eloisesparkle · 22/04/2018 10:53

€31 in Dublin Sad

bosschick · 22/04/2018 12:55

Herat I wash two or three times a week but wondering whether I can manage longer with a dry shampoo.

OP posts:
bosschick · 22/04/2018 12:57

Talk fast I wish I had long tumbl8ng curls but sadly I don't - I have shoulder length frizz. And a fringe. Sigh.

My local expensive salon has an amazing junior who does 15 blow dries.

I've been partaking fortnightly at least

bosschick · 22/04/2018 12:58

Sabina that sounds wonderful, I think I could stretch to £12. Does that include washing as well or do you turn up washed?

OP posts:
StrugglingMumma · 22/04/2018 13:01

What about the salon trainees.. they would be cheaper or the local collage

MayFayner · 22/04/2018 13:35

Have you got a decent hairdryer OP? Parlux or similar?

I do my own (for the last 15 years!) but I don't use a round brush like they do in the hairdresser- I can't really do that. I use a small vented brush and it works fine.

Sabina21 · 22/04/2018 15:28

Hi OP that includes washing as well. Half an hour of "me time" worth every penny.😘

eloisesparkle · 22/04/2018 16:34

Sabrina where do you get a blow dry for £12 ????
As I said €31 for me ShockHmm

nancy75 · 22/04/2018 16:39

My Mum hasnt washed her own hair in years, she goes to the hairdresser twice a week for a wash & blow dry, I don’t know price but we are in London so it’ll be a lot more than a tenner!
If you can afford it and it will make you happy then do it Grin

raffle · 22/04/2018 17:06

I went for a weekly wash and blow dry for the last 10 weeks of both my pregnancys. I loved it!
