If you use a cleansing balm...

Which one do you use? Smile

I recently started using a little tester pot of Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing balm that I got in an M&S advent calendar and it seems pretty decent so far but it's tiny and will run out soon. I'd like to start using a cleansing balm regularly but before I purchase the full size of this Emma Hardie one, I'm wondering if there are any other great ones out there that anyone could recommend?
I have combination skin that tends to lean more on the oily side (you could fry an egg on my nose some days Sad) and it's also quite sensitive (eczema pops up every now and then).
Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Liz Earle for years. Fab. But just got Elemis and I confess I've been unfaithful. And loved it.

geniusindisguise · 21/04/2018 04:08

I adore Elemis the smell is unreal and like a Pp I always stock up when qvc have deals on. I also like their cream cleanser also feel so soft.

TheChineseChicken · 21/04/2018 06:25

I've never heard of these before and just looked them up. So you just smear on your face and wash off? And they get rid of all makeup?

CognitiveDissonance · 21/04/2018 06:36

Pretty much @TheChineseChicken, I use mine before following up with Khiels Ultra Facial Cleanser or Cetaphil Cleanser. I've only been doing it for about a week and loving it.

I really like Balance Me, and you can get smaller trial sizes on their website. I keep the cleansing balm in the fridge during the summer, cools me down before going to bed!

Kneehighinshit · 21/04/2018 06:43

Another vote for chamomile cleansing balm from body shop. Haven't tried any others though, haven't felt the need to.

TheChineseChicken · 21/04/2018 06:45

Sounds great, think I'll try one

SporkInTheToaster · 21/04/2018 10:14

chinesechicken, yes. Massage a dollop into skin (just as it is, don’t wet skin first), take off with a flannel or muslin cloth under hand hot water. Job done.

BagelGoesWalking · 21/04/2018 10:33

Body Shop Camomile Balm is really good. Another less well known one but very popular in Korean skincare is Heimish All Clean Balm. Available from some uk stockists now.

chatwoo · 21/04/2018 10:39

I have got three on the go;

  • The Sanctuary one from Boots
  • Liz Earle lavender and rose
  • Lush Ultrabland.

I've tried Take the Day Off and the Body Shop Camomile one, but both made my face feel too "stripped".

smerlin · 21/04/2018 12:40

Thanks @MrsSnitch I was getting confused there! I might therefore need a new thread on which cream cleanser to use afterward!

MrsSnitch · 21/04/2018 22:59

smerlin for what it’s worth I use either Claris take the day off or Emma Hardie Moringa followed by Rice Water bright foaming cleanser: it’s a Korean brand I get from Amazon, super cheap as you need the smallest amount to wash so it lasts for ages - in fact I’ve just looked up my amazon account and I see I bought this in May 2017 and it’s only just running out!

smerlin · 22/04/2018 22:37

Ooh sounds great. Is it suitable for combination skin?

MrsSnitch · 22/04/2018 22:45

Yes I’ve got combo skin, it’s a lovely gentle and (for me) non irritating cleanser. I’ve recently bought the cleansing oil from the same brand to try when my balm runs out

thisnthat · 22/04/2018 22:52

I have combination skin and have found nothing better than the body shop chamomile balm. I actually really like the Emma Hardie one but it brings me out in spots.

Threeminis · 22/04/2018 22:59

The elemis one is my absolute favourite but it's super expensive. I really loved the Emma Hardie one too (had the advent calendar too)

DoctorStrange · 23/04/2018 00:01

I love the South Korean Heimish All Clean Balm. It's very affordable and miles better than all of the more expensive ones I've tried.

snowgal · 23/04/2018 01:51

Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm, I've been using it for years and recommend it to anyone who'll listen!

bingohandjob · 23/04/2018 07:11

Eve Lom...I buy the biggest pot, preferably in the sale, and it lasts me a full year. I need the smallest blob to make my skin feel lovely and clean of make up. I use flannels with it rather than the flimsy muslin cloth. I've tried Liz Earle, Body Shop and a Molton Brown one, each of which I reacted to horribly. I might give the Superdrug one a go as I love their Optimum range and rate it really highly.

housedoerupper · 25/04/2018 07:13

Been using Eve Lom cleanser for years. Tried other balms but always come back to this one. It is expensive but often deals available on websites such as Look Fantastic and a little goes a long way. It’s quite thick compared to other more buttery balms, which I like.

MissMatchedClaws · 25/04/2018 07:15

Another vote for Neals Yard Wild Rose, it’s lovely!

Aworldofmyown · 25/04/2018 10:15

I love the Body shop one.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 25/04/2018 10:36

I prefer the Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm, but The Body Shop's Camomile cleansing butter is very similar and is also very good.

I only use a cleansing balm in the evening to take my make up off - it really works, and my skin does not feel dry or tight, nor do they leave a film on my skin.

In the morning, I use cetaphil.

bokkleorandoove · 25/04/2018 12:14

I use Emma Hardie and Eve Lom morning cleanser - not a fan of the smell of the Eve Lom Cleanser but my skin is a lot clearer and smoother.

I'm not a fan of Emma Hardie in the summer months though because the balm melts in warmer temperatures and the packaging is hopeless and it leaks everywhere if you take it travelling with you. Product is still good to use though.
