If you use a cleansing balm...

Which one do you use? Smile

I recently started using a little tester pot of Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing balm that I got in an M&S advent calendar and it seems pretty decent so far but it's tiny and will run out soon. I'd like to start using a cleansing balm regularly but before I purchase the full size of this Emma Hardie one, I'm wondering if there are any other great ones out there that anyone could recommend?
I have combination skin that tends to lean more on the oily side (you could fry an egg on my nose some days Sad) and it's also quite sensitive (eczema pops up every now and then).
Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

No idea who JD is and why they're messing with my make up.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/04/2018 19:13

Good Things Manuka Honey
Bodyshop Camomile Butter

I like Lush but I found Ultrabland a bit textured (not gritty just felt like there was ground almonds or something n it)

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 20/04/2018 19:24

I love the waitrose pure one and the boots botanics. Some of the others really sting on my skin.

autumnboys · 20/04/2018 19:30

I like the Pixi balm. I also use the soap & glory one, which is ok.

sadiesnakes · 20/04/2018 19:35

Alpha H do a really nice one, smells like rose Turkish delight and leaves your skin really soft afterwards, it can also be reapplied after cleansing as a beauty balm, I put it on over my serum to lock it in if my skin is particularly dry.

FancyYourChances · 20/04/2018 19:37

Currently using Clinique Take The Day Off, but when its finished I'm going back to the BodyShop camomile cleansing butter - cheaper and better.

Chanelprincess · 20/04/2018 19:43

Eve Lom. I also like Votary rose geranium cleanser but that's an oil, rather than a balm.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 20/04/2018 20:08

Another vote for Clinique take the day off. I second cleanse with a Ren Gel wash. The two really work well together.

papersmile · 20/04/2018 20:18

Try Merumaya melting cleansing balm. I tried it because I couldn't afford to keep buying the EH balm. It's very nice and was recommended by Sali Hughes

mimibunz · 20/04/2018 20:20

Elemis is great! I’ve been using it for 2 years. Great deals on QVC.

Bastardingcough · 20/04/2018 20:27

Elemis cleansing balm is my current fave, it's the balm I always go back to.
However I have also used Waitrose Bottom Butter as a cleanser (it smells delicious).
And I've also made my own cleansing oil, with a base of grapeseed oil, a splash if caster oil and some essential oils like lavender, rose and geranium.

GrannyGrissle · 20/04/2018 20:56

I've just had exactly this same issue OP.Can't QUITE justify Emma H so read up on reviews/did my research and went for number 7 cleansing balm (Boots). It is excellent but not as 'luxe' as EH (unsurprising at less than 1/2 the price).

CrackingEggs · 20/04/2018 21:00

Lush Ultrabland with a proper flannel and warm water rather than a muslin.

ihearttea · 20/04/2018 21:04

The trilogy Make Up Be Gone cleansing balm is lovely and is on offer in Holland & Barrett at the moment

unicornandrainbows · 20/04/2018 21:07

Clinique Take the day off balm.
Even if I'm skint I buy this.
It's amazing

travailtotravel · 20/04/2018 21:10

Elemis. Lovely lovely elemis.

laramara · 20/04/2018 21:17

Superdrug Vitamin E works really well, just as effective as more expensive brands.

Twotabbycats · 20/04/2018 21:19

Oskia Renaissance cleansing gel is fab - calls itself a gel but is actually similar to the Emma Hardie in texture when you put it on.

Am using the Oskia and EH plus Votary cleansing oil in rotation at the moment - all lovely products!

Wallywobbles · 20/04/2018 21:19

Nuxe micellar cleansing oil with rose petals. I prefer it to the camomile butter.

SporkInTheToaster · 20/04/2018 21:24

Balm-wise, I like TTDO but I’m finding it drying these days. I switch between using the Waitrose bottom butter (though it can leave a residue) and various Fushi oils (obviously they are liquid oils not solid balms).

I dislike the chamomile butter, the smell turns me over but I also find it irritating. EH is too fragranced for me, plus that bloody packaging (is it still as bad?). I found the Botanics one to be utterly useless and Ultrabland gave me spots.

My skin is normal, bordering on dry & a bit of dehydration thrown in for good measure.

MissMorkansAnnualDance · 20/04/2018 21:29

The only balm cleanser I have is the Boots botanics one, really like it but tend to use it in summer.

Other hot cloth cleansers I like (but are butters or creams) are the BS Chamomile (prob my favourite of all) Liz Earle (I love it) Elemis -not quite as nice as the LE, thicker consistency, and Superdrug Vit E. (Not the radiance one, that is hideous, strongly artificially smelling and scratchy)

yikesanotherbooboo · 20/04/2018 21:43

I like EH but find price unacceptable, Eve Lom is ok but I don't like the smell as much and it is very spendy.
I have alighted upon TTDO as it is easy to use and provokes no reaction, it isn't perfect as it struggles with some eye makeup and in general I like a scented product.in the mornings I love Liz Earle, I am currently using up dregs of a Darphin wash and Clinique facial soap. Quite honestly I will delighted when they are finished and I can treat myself again. Unless you lot tempt me elsewhere I will buy LE as it leaves my skin feeling lovely and it smells nice.

Nicketynac · 20/04/2018 23:19

I have very oily skin.
I didn't like the No. 7 one at all - really strong fragrance which irritated the eczema on my hands. Got the EH in M&S calendar too and was slightly relieved that it irritated my eyes so I didn't have to spend so much on it! Superdrug radiance one left residue on my face.
My favourite is Liz Earle. Am currently using Superdrug vitamin E one but not a huge fan. There is nothing really wrong with it but I don't like it as much. Didn't mind the Body Shop one or Lush Ultrabland but they weren't as good for my skin as the Liz Earle.
After reading this thread though am going to try Clinique next.

Phase84 · 20/04/2018 23:26

Im using Liz Earle it's great. But i think Eve Lom is 1 step better. It really is amazing.

I have dry sensitive skin.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/04/2018 23:31

I don't use it any more, but I used to use this from Akamuti for three or four years. I have very sensitive skin and I stopped using this when my skin became sensitive to it, now I don't use oil/balm cleansing method anymore.
