What would you do with my face?

Hi there mumsnetters. I would like advice on what makeup i should or could wear.
I'm 38, wore gothy/punky makeup as a teen and early 20s. Have recently bought red lipstick and neutral/nude brown eyeshadow. I've got eyeliner, lipliner, mascara as well. I'm just starting to get interested in makeup again but have no idea where to start.
I want a day look but am happy for an extreme/colourful/glamarous day look. I don't have a skincare routine. Just water and dove.
Will prolly get smaller framed glasses when my prescription next needs updating.
Obviously I've name changed for this but am not too bothered if anyone recognises me. Don't know how to rotate the photo, sorry.

What would you do with my face?

Thanks all.
So i am taking from this -
Get my brows shaped -done!
Get nude/brown eyeshadow - done!
Get some sort of moisturizing face cream with a high spf - going shopping for this tomorrow
Go back to my natural hair colour - sorry but no. Hair is there to have fun with. I'm having fun.
Look after my hair better - that i can do! Will buy some stuff tomoz.
Go for 50s style make up,red lips and winged liner - that i already do.
Wax my top lip - perhaps. I ama bit hairy a d dark but I'm trying to reduce my body hair hang ups so will leave this for a bit.
Get new glasses - certainly will do when next need a new prescription.

Thanks all!

OP did you mean to name change for last post?

Biologifemini · 14/04/2018 11:50

You have the skin of a teenager - I wouldn’t bother with too much make up as your skin looks perfect.
Would you consider ombré or balayage?

Greymisty · 14/04/2018 12:32

Liking your plan OP Smile

OyO · 14/04/2018 12:39

You have great skin for a dove & water routine, makes me want to throw my 98 potions in the bin!

If I were you, I’d apply go for something very quick and simple like a Laura Mercier moisturising tinted SPF. Add some subtle flicks to the eyes and as your lips are already a lovely colour, I’d just line them with a similar shade and add a bit of balm.

GoldAgainstTheSoul · 14/04/2018 14:27

Oops i forgot I'd namechanged back. #twat.

Biologi- i don't know what ombre or balayage means.

I totally agree with Chish re the vintage vibe. I’d keep the platinum hair, I think it’s a signature for you and it’s a mistake to change a hair colour just because it might not work great with make up free skin. Make up can do anything so go with what you want for the finished look rather than tone down. Enjoy!

Greymisty · 14/04/2018 16:24

Ombre or balayage essentially means light ends and dark or darker roots. Ombre a more obvious look balayage the shift in colour is more subtle. Worth considering when your bored of current hair and you want to grow it out.

I am very short sighted too, OP, my glasses are quite thick at the edge, even if I pay for the "ultra thin & light" ones. I tend to go for frames with a wider arm, or a decorative edge, to hide the width if the lens when seen from the side. Something like these, for example. Although I notice that you prefer a nose pad on your bridge, as I do.

Betsy86 · 14/04/2018 16:58

Think chish was spot on with that vintage look would look fab!

GoldAgainstTheSoul · 14/04/2018 17:29

Joz - that's a good idea. I do need nose pads though. My prescription is minus 11 or 12 so that even when lenses are thinned they are thicker than average, whichlimits tge frames that will support them.
I have a hatred of big frames that swallow your face. There seems to be tons of them at the moment. And i loathe the sexy secretary/vintage/librarian type ones too. Which limits me when i pick new frames. It is a bugger.

Greymisty - thank you fir the explanation. I would deffo consider that. I hate the roots when they grow out.

Enrique - i like both the hairstyles you put up but i cannot bear haur longer than my ears.i currently have an undercut and the main shape is there to cover it when needed. I agree i need a fringe. I'm hopeless at remembering to get it trimmed. And i don't really style my hair so find it hard to keep the fringe looking obvious.

Commented on this when you started the thread but have just seen the update- wow op your brows look great after having them done!

GoldAgainstTheSoul · 14/04/2018 17:38

To style it i brush it into shape when wet.

I actually like your glasses shape! I would get your eyebrows professionally shaped and Try a really light foundation as you have great skin. Winged eyeliner, with mascara and a bright cool toned lipstick would look fab on you as you have lovely lips!

Sparklefloof · 14/04/2018 17:46

Sorry, I missed that you had your eyebrows done-they look a lot better! When you feel confident enough I'd use a bit of bronzer for contouring with to make your cheekbones pop

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 14/04/2018 18:29

Yeah, when I first posted the photos I said with a shorter length. Maybe if you get a salon cut they can recommend a product and you can do finger styling for a messier look?

I also recommend the virtual try on on glasses sites. I've used the function and it works really well.

GoldAgainstTheSoul · 14/04/2018 18:35

Good ideas, thanks enrique. I'm rushing through replies so apols if i missed the nuance.

No worries Flowers

cloudtree · 14/04/2018 19:06

OP to be honest I don't think anyone can hope much more without seeing you with make up on and your hair done. could you do that and post a photo?
