Where do you buy clothes that are not polyester?

As everything I seem to see in main stream shops seems to be made with it

This is a huge bugbear of mine too, especially the higher end shops who charge silk money for polyester pieces.

hugoagogo · 08/04/2018 09:50

You have to hunt for it, but most places have some.

Worieddd · 08/04/2018 10:44

Fatface is a good atart

Floisme · 08/04/2018 10:50

Second hand.

Mulberrysilk · 08/04/2018 11:15

Joules, Boden, H&M
A little from a lot of places but you have to check the composition of everything. If find it easier to do that on line.

magickingdom82 · 08/04/2018 11:36

It's increasingly hard but -

Boden, uniqlo, joules, white stuff, gap, H&M

TeddyIsaHe · 08/04/2018 11:37

H&M is good for cotton and jersey basics, and their wool can be surprisingly good. Ditto Uniqlo. Boden, but I can never find anything I really like there.

Pretty much the only places I shop now!

SukiTheDog · 08/04/2018 12:06

John Lewis? I was in last week and was pleased to see a lot of linen and light cotton knitwear etc.

InspiredByIntegrity · 08/04/2018 12:12

Decent plain cotton t-shirts - Laura Ashley.
Silk blouses - TKMaxx.

Glug44 · 08/04/2018 12:16

Most of my Hobbs pieces are mixed with polyester. It helps them last longer. I’m Indian and I have a lot of pure silk / wool / cotton outfits; they tend to tear easily and don’t really last beyong 5 years anyway and by then look so grotty you can’t wear them anyway.

DianaT1969 · 08/04/2018 12:31

Primark had 100% cotton cardigans last week. Uniqglo have a lovely and affordable linen collection at the moment.

wiltingfast · 08/04/2018 12:33

Cos

Didiusfalco · 08/04/2018 12:36

M&S have loads of 100% cotton t-shirts.

hugoagogo · 08/04/2018 17:53

I think there are cotton/ linen/ viscose basics, but it's when you want something a bit dressier (I sound like my Nan! Easter Grin) that's when I really struggle.

goose1964 · 08/04/2018 18:28

I saw some £100 % t-shirts in New Look yesterday

goose1964 · 08/04/2018 18:28

Ignore the £ sign

Ohyesiam · 08/04/2018 18:29

Cos

Greymalkin · 08/04/2018 18:32

Sea Salt

Oly5 · 08/04/2018 22:04

Fat face
White stuff
White Company
Boden
M&S for t shirts and chinos

LardLizard · 09/04/2018 08:15

Oh so stuff is out there, I just need to look harder
I suppose I tend to like detailed patterned colourful things rather than plain things so perhaps that’s why I find them harder to find

Thanks though

My bugbear too! Viscose is shit as well - it’s touted as natural but it’s highly processed cellulose - it doesn’t wash or wear well and it can be sweaty in the heat.

Cos are pretty good albeit pricey, everywhere else it’s a matter of label checking.

LaPampa · 09/04/2018 09:26

Try seasalt for patterns. I also have been looking at some Lithuanian linen shops on Etsy with some nice tops and dresses. I often find them on Instagram (eg notperfectlinen) and follow links to their shops. Depends on the style you’re after.

I did some work for a clothing company once and often natural fabrics need a helping hand to stop twisting and laddering which is why you’ll see merino blended with elastane or a cotton mix.

WillowWept · 09/04/2018 09:26

Jigsaw do lots of silk tops but I find the quality poor.

I want proper silk blouses. I've been at a bit of a loss recently so following with interest

Hypermice · 09/04/2018 09:32

willow have you considered learning to sew? It’s much easier to buy quality fabric for a decent price and there are some great little independent pattern makers out there who do some cutting edge stuff.

I’ve found some OK pure silk tops at Other Stories. Liberty usually have them but you’ll pay accordingly.
