BRAs-where am i going wrong?

my norks are still rather large since having dd3 9 weeks ago(34 F),but every time i get a bra that i think fits me,ie that i have tried on and fits me while im in the fitting room, once ive worn it for a few hours my norks start to work their way out and i end up with the dreaded 4-nork syndrome.

i dont want to pay £30+ for a piece of scaffolding to hold them in place,as i am not going to be this size for much longer(i will loose weight).i just dont understand it,unless my boobs are increasing in size over the course of the day(im not bf,by the way).

?

perhaps you need to get the bra fitter to check? Are you getting the correct chest size, should you really be a 32 and the back is moving around too much and that is letting your norks escape or perhaps you are just buying the wrong style cup? I can only ever wear a certain style of cup usually balconette or I get 4 nork syndrome even though my norks have virtually disappeared.

Piffle · 10/05/2007 21:29

I was a 36F Diva measured I am infact a 32GG

I was
but now no more 4 norks (or 6 in my case (over and under)
And no more back strap riding high
However none of my t shirts fit

MrsWho · 10/05/2007 21:38

My problem seems to be I get 3 usually my right side escaping

cylonbabe · 10/05/2007 21:46

sorry but you wont like what i have to say.

it is a far far far better thing to get one properly fitted bra that costs 30 quid, than three crappy ones that cost a tenner or even a fiver each.
there are many things in life we can skimp and save on. a good bra is not one of those.

at 9 weeks postpartum, your norks are still changing daily. particularly if you are breastfeeding. so dont be too hard on yourself.

cylonbabe · 10/05/2007 21:47

a few weeks after having dc3 i was 34G. am now happily down to 32e, and possibly will become smaller soon, but that s because of weight loss, not pregnancy etc

divastrop · 10/05/2007 21:57

i'm not bf,and my milk hasnt completly dried up yet,and i was told after having ds1,when i went to a good lingerie shop to be measured, that i should wait till i'd had 3 periods after childbirth before investing in a bra.

this has always happened to me when i've been an f cup or above.i dont want to wear big granny bras as i like to wear low-ish cut tops.

mrswho-hello,by the way,i think you live in the same town as me(if ive got the right person).

begins with a B?(i am surrounded in water?)

slayerette · 10/05/2007 22:03

It wasn't til I went to Bravissimo that I realised that I'd been measured wrong for years - I now wear a fairly small back size but a giant cup size and my bras fit and look loads better. Normal shops just kept increasing the back size and I couldn't understand why my bras never fitted me. Def worth trying Bravissimo if you're near one.

divastrop · 10/05/2007 22:06

its M+S or debenhams-the only places that sell bras in my size

mrswho-yes,roisin is also from the same town?

OP posts:
slayerette · 10/05/2007 22:10

Bravissimo only sells a C cup and above - if not a D cup and above. And it goes up to a JJ in cup size. So I bet they'd have something in your size!

EllieKthePA · 10/05/2007 22:11

you do change size slightlty as your body warms up (like with shoes!) so maybe try shopping at a different time of day?

MrsWho · 10/05/2007 22:39

Yeah remember from a thread before.

M&S is cr*p here too, and Deb keeps shrinking bits, you're going to end up having a trip away!

MrsWho · 10/05/2007 22:41

I just had a sudden panic you were a friend of mine then , your family is very similar to hers but you have an extra one!

treacletart · 10/05/2007 22:42

Go to Rigby & Peller to get measured properly - then you can buy a cheaper bra in the right size online somewhere.

Are rigby and Peller only in London or do they have branches?

treacletart · 10/05/2007 22:52

Just london I think. Bet you'll find you're much smaller round the back and larger in the cup than you thought. I'm a 32h and wearing a properly fitting brta after years of being wrongly measured was a revelation. The centre of the bra should fit flat against your chest bone between your breasts - that never happened for me before I was measured correctly - I must have spent a fortune on wrong sizes over the years.

colander · 10/05/2007 22:59

If you are near a John Lewis they do measuring too. Have huge norks too and always find Bravissimo dot com good - order loads of different ones and find the best and send the others back. However, I wouldn't spend out loads until you have finished b/f (I'm not advocating stopping b/f obviously!!) Bravissimo claim to fit over the phone, never tried it myself but worth a go.

PedroPony · 10/05/2007 23:02

dont get one 9 weeks after
oh no wait a bit longer

treacletart · 10/05/2007 23:14

Sorry I only really skimmed the thread before posting - the others are right if your dd is only 9 weeks there's loads of time for your norks to change considerably - I'd wait a bit before splashing out but you may find a Bravado bra useful in the meantime - they're really good for fluctuating cups.

cylonbabe · 11/05/2007 08:17

sorry again, but the idea of waiting till three periods after childbirth to get a good bra is like waiting till three months after the snow falls to bother buying shoes.
bra's are delicate things. if you dont give them the proper scaffolding, the travel southwards. to avoid this travel southwards, i would buy a bra that i knew would only fit me for a month!
spend less on clothes. on shoes, on makeup, on food. but when youre in the f cup region, its hazardous to be a cheapskate on bras.
under £15 there is also a link somewhere on mn that gives you 10% off and free deliveries

cylonbabe · 11/05/2007 08:18

or not bothering to buy a child clothes till they were a 6 onths old coz they grow out of them so quickly

nomoremagnolia · 11/05/2007 09:37

Bravissimo - well worth it IMO and that's coming from a 32G girl

divastrop · 11/05/2007 10:57

thanks for all the messages and links

cylon-my norks are about as far south as they can go alreadybut i will try and get properly measured and see what they come up with.
