Can I wear (smart) trainers to a wedding?

I wear orthotics as my feet/knees are basically knackered. They really limit the footwear I can wear - trainers and flat boots. I'm going to a wedding soon and am stuck for what to wear without giving up my orthotics.

Any suggestions? Could I get away with a jumpsuit or knee length, unstructured dress and smart trainers? I'm late 40s so I'm not sure I can carry it off even if trainers might be just about acceptable.Confused

Boots not trainers. 100%

I would never wear trainers to a wedding. I don't know much about dress etiquette, but as regards wedding generally think trainers or sports wear are a total no go. Or all in white, of course.

What I usually do is wear terribly impractical shoes, kick them off for dancing, and put my trainers on for the ride home.

Can you wear smart shoes for the ceremony and wedding breakfast - where you'll mostly be sitting down, then change into trainers for dancing later? I struggle with my back and have to be very careful with shoes, but I'm really not sure about trainers for the more formal bits of a wedding.

Boots with some smart trousers and a dressy top would be killer though, just remember your hat Grin

I have the same problem and am wondering what on earth I can wear to a black tie do this summer. I cannot find any brogues that are wide enough and deep enough for my orthotics so my choices are trainers, Birkenstocks or boots. I think boots will look really odd in July, but Birkies or trainer types for black tie might be out of order, I really don't know.

I have terrible feet - ex dancer albeit contemporary and two broken and dislocated ankles, metatarsillitus (sp) as well as severe problems with pain along the bottom of the foot/ligaments. I hate going to "events" which require shoes that are more than serviceable I am so getting old - but I love funky shoes too. I would prob take one pair for the event that are comfortablish but more dressy - and then comfy for evening - maybe changing into trousers for the evening from a dress for e.g. But I know what you mean about sore feet for a few days afterwards. I find a bit of foot massage before the day helps considerably as does afterwards, relieves the muscle and ligament aches after torturing them

I wear my orthotics with flat Mary Jane's and find this gives me enough support. Could this work for you?

If it was my wedding I would be absolutely fine with you wearing trainers.

Good luck
Katy

The Geoxx Ophira ones you linked to are much better than the suggestions of white leather ones. I wouldn't be offended what you wore so long as all clean !
