Invited to party I’m so confused

I like to think I’m quite trendy however I’m more a casual kind of gal - boots, trainers occasionally that kind of thing

We’ve been invited to my Hs bosses 50th party at a golf club.

I’ve had a few years of ill health and I’ve really lost my confidence.

Can anyone give me pointers please- I’m so stuck - I’m 33, size 8-10

Do I go down the evening wear route or party wear? Confused

Thanks

I think it's probably a case of the old smart jeans and a snazzy top, isn't it? You could wear a dress, but nothing as formal as "eveningwear", and I wouldn't buy one if you don't have one already.

MrsEricBana · 26/03/2018 00:58

Golf club may have funny rules e.g. no jeans. Daft but worth checking.

BitOfFun · 26/03/2018 01:01

True; I hadn't thought of that. I'd still be thinking more along the lines of "drinks at a posh club" than "wedding guest" though.

BitOfFun · 26/03/2018 01:03

NeverTalksToStrangers - that's really lovely, good spot.

WhatIsGoingOnNow · 26/03/2018 01:13

Ok so more party wear but not clubbing??

WhatIsGoingOnNow · 26/03/2018 01:14

Didn’t finish
A dress
Trousers with a sparkly top

Mmmmmmmchips · 26/03/2018 01:15

Raven

Sorry to question but is that not more wedding guest attire

I’m very confused

It is a formal choice, I think the colour would suit your age as it's fresh. But it might be too formal.

This is more party wear. I like the structure of the sleeves. Dusty rose or gold accents usually looks good with navy.

My style is quite formal and I live in dresses.

In my experience a Golf Club party means a dress and heels.

Jeans and a nice top wouldn’t cut it I’m afraid.

Cavender · 26/03/2018 01:32

The blue dress Raven linked to looks about right to me.

It’s a LBD occasion.

TravellingFleet · 26/03/2018 01:34

I’d take it as a fairly formal special occasion with people that you want to show respect to, so would wear an elegant but not overly sexy dress. If it were me, I’d wear a dress I’ve got that’s silk, knee length, bold patterns in brown / cream / black. I haul it out for anything where I want to look like I’ve made an effort. Better to be slightly too smart with confidence than underdressed.

Would a black jumpsuit work

With heels

You're so young, and so thin! Whatever you choose - enjoy. At your age and your size, you're going to look great in anything. For a golf club, I would think any sort of nice dress would be appropriate.

BitOfFun · 26/03/2018 01:56

Yes, I think a jumpsuit and heels would be spot on.

Mmmmmmmchips · 26/03/2018 02:05

If I can tomorrow I will try uploading a few pics

Jumpsuit and heels sounds great.

I personally wouldn't wear any of the linked dresses so far - they are too formal/smart/structured for my style.

This is cool (and cheap!) and more what I'd wear:

Peanutbuttercups21 · 26/03/2018 07:50

Yes, something little black dress-ish, with great shoes

Hunter007 · 26/03/2018 15:02

Go for a nice dress! I wouldn't wear jeans to a Golf Club party. Try Zoe Vine - gorgeous stuff! www.zoevine.com

dontcallmelen · 26/03/2018 15:52

Hi Riverisland have got some jumpsuits, quite a few in the sale my dd got a couple last week, look really nice with heels & an evening clutch type of bag she is the same age as you.

Sweetheart · 26/03/2018 15:54

You are young and tiny so I'd go with something much younger in style and more fitted but still demure and elegant....maybe something like this

CountFosco · 26/03/2018 21:11

Definitely no jeans at a golf club. Since it's a work invite for your DH I'd go for a posher version of a work dress. So, not too much flesh exposed and no pastels and careful with pattern. I'd want to still look like a professional rather than a wedding guest.

SoftSheen · 26/03/2018 21:17

I agree with CountFosco! ^^
