Really unimpressed with my brows (pic attached)

I posted a while back to say I was letting my brows grow out so I could get them done at the Benefit counter. I was getting them threaded for £4 but they kept doing them too thin!

£15.50 and I'm left quite unimpressed Sad

I specifically told the woman that I wanted them thick still but with a nice arch.

She's done the end bits far too thin and wasn't even going to apply some filler eyebrow make up until I asked.

I honestly let my brows grow to a complete state for this, and they're no better than when I got them threaded for less than a fiver.

I use to get them done at Benefit years ago and they're were always amazing.

They just look odd to me Envy

Stop paying people to mess your eyebrows up!

Your natural eyebrows are lovely, a pair of tweezers to sort out the odd straggler underneath and they’d be absolutely perfect.

Oh and your DH, I assume you’ve disposed of the body?

happymummy12345 · 22/03/2018 22:44

I would not be happy at all.
I used to only get my eyebrows threaded, which used to make my eyes stream like no tomorrow and really hurt. And I never found anyone who done them quite right.
I recently started getting my nails done at a different salon, they do all aspects of beauty, including eyebrow waxing. Now I swore I'd never ever get my eyebrows waxed, I said if threading hurts me that much wax would be worse. I was so wrong. My absolutely brilliant nail lady now waxes my brows and I love them. It's much quicker, virtually pain free, and for the first time I've got eyebrows that are a perfect shape.
Would you not consider waxing?
But either way I'd complain as that's not right at all.

AjasLipstick · 22/03/2018 22:48

Just coming on to say how gorgeous you are. Your brows won't detract! Wait till they've grown again and find somewhere else OP.

Littlechocola · 22/03/2018 22:49

You are gorgeous! What have they done!! Definitely complain. I would email before and after pics to Debenhams and benefit.

upsetangryandpissed · 22/03/2018 22:53

wow, first of all i must say you are a beaut.. second of all the last time an eyebrow bar messed mines up i tried this.. it worked a treat

CoffeeCakePlease · 22/03/2018 22:55

You're lovely looking OP!

When it comes to brows...and any other beauty service I've found its rare paying more is getting more/better!

A few times I've shelled out £28 to get eyebrows shaped and tinted at Strip, but to be totally honest they're the exact same as 2 places near my house which are £11.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is just because someone does brows for Benefit doesn't mean they're any more skilled than someone working in a back street cheap salon. However it just takes a while to find a good place/person! I used Instagram a lot to find new beauty places so I can see images of their work and say "I'd like the end result to be that please".

Olive oil to make the brows grow back fast!

upsetangryandpissed · 22/03/2018 22:56

posted too soon, i let mine grow out, did that to them & with a decent pair of tweezers, good lighting & no children about i did them myself. Idea being the bits you've concealed is the bits you pluck iyswim

phlewf · 22/03/2018 22:57

I had this exact thing. I had Benefit Brows for about 6 months they were lovely. Then a new lady started and waxed both brows down to pencil thin! I didn’t know what to say.

A year later and I haven’t found someone who understand the word ARCH. Also the distance between them is getting more and more.

I have bigger things to worry about but often I spend too long stroking them.

honeyroar · 22/03/2018 22:58

Your eyebrows are great naturally and suit you. Just a slight tidy up should suffice.

As an aside, Why does everyone nowadays want thick, fake drawn on eyebrows? Sometimes I can't see the person because I can't stop staring at their OTT eyebrows.

summerblues · 22/03/2018 22:58

No real advice OP, just also wanted to say you are seriously gorgeous!

I would be pissed off too, growing them out is hard work!

HeedMove · 22/03/2018 23:00

I was an account manager for Benefit. Sorry op,they are pretty bad. Quite uneven and I wouldn't of been happy had a member of staff done that job.. I'd complain to the account manager first and foremost. If not happy then ask to speak to area manager, then on social media if you still aren't satisfied. They are too thin on the ends compared to the top half.

TakeMeToTheFresh · 22/03/2018 23:14

Would you not consider waxing?
But either way I'd complain as that's not right at all.

Unfortunately, Benefit lady only did the wax, no threading! So it seems neither works for me Sad

I shall complain via email and if no joy, on to social media

Becoming an immediate(ish) pro at doing my own is something I'm sceptical about.

Mainly because I have a 14 week old baby so someone else doing them saves me a lot of hassle, but perhaps, more hassle long term?

Heed how would I get hold of the account manager?

summer, thank you! It's even harden when even my in laws keep saying they need sorting Grin but then again no one has natural brows in that family because they can't grow them. So I shall take with a pinch of salt and clutch at pearls, putting it down to envy

And for whatever reason, after many years of eyebrow treatments, I always feel hot and a little faint during the procedures? This never happened before having DS

I don't rate Benefit for brows at all. They may claim to be experts, but it varies hugely depending on who you get and they're really there to sell products.

I'd recommend trying small salons. I vastly prefer threading to waxing, you get a much cleaner line and less likely to get those annoying little spots. Also I once had my top lip burnt by too-hot wax, which gave me a delightful scabby 'tache and put me off for life.

I have very thick, dark caterpillar eyebrows (though fading and thinning with age), and I've been going to the same lady for 10 years now. She started off working for a small business in Debenhams, then ran her own business for a few years, and now she's working full time for Blink on Oxford St Topshop. She's bloody brilliant and I won't let anyone else do my brows. I go to her every four weeks and pluck myself in between.

you're really gorgeous and have a beautiful natural shape to them. if you change your mind about doing them yourself id just tidy up the extra hairs underneath and a bit on top. hope it gets sorted out for you.

pinkyredrose · 23/03/2018 09:41

I'd email Benefit as it's thier concession within Debenhams. Debenhams would just pass you on to Benefit anyway.

maradesbois · 23/03/2018 09:41

Op I would recommend Bobbi Brown brow bars, they have brow specialists at most concessions who only pluck with tweezers and work with your natural shape and arch. Cost is redeemable against any purchases too.

Winchester13 · 23/03/2018 09:49

You’re beautiful! You should’ve left your natural brows wish I had them!

Bourgainvillia · 23/03/2018 10:31

I love thick brows, yours look lovely.

Longhairmightcare · 23/03/2018 11:07

OP I understand your reservations about plucking them yourself. I’ve had many self inflicted beauty disasters, and need a trained professional!
However as others have said you could get anyone at a brow bar, with any level of competency.
I’d recommend looking on Instagram for local brow technicians on a hashtag search. Look for someone with loads of examples of their work in pics (that you are sure is their own work, you’re more likely to get someone good. Plus I find attending a salon where you go in to a beauty room, lie down etc, you get a more attentive service, and they listen to you and concentrate more than if you’re in a chair on a shop floor.

You have fabulous natural brows though.

TakeMeToTheFresh · 23/03/2018 11:55

Thanks all for the replies and advice Thanks

I have contacted Benefit. They say they usually get back within 72 hours but no option to attach a picture on the contact form so can't show them until they rely via email.

I would love to try a Bobbi Brown specialist but unfortunately don't have one nearby or anywhere close. I'm literally stuck with my rubbish local town's offerings unless I go into London

I'll be having a look on Instagram for an independent beautician with previous work examples.

Going to let them grow out (again), goodness help me but will use the cover up make up trick given to me by a PP!

I have a pair of tweezers called Tweezerman, I think they're called? I can understand where the Benefit lady was coming from because I and everyone else who's ever plucked has made comments that the hair is extremely coarse and difficult to style etc

OP posts:
Bugjune · 23/03/2018 12:00

I hear you, Draylon Grin

BluePony · 24/03/2018 09:52

Nothing to add that other pps have said re brows but you're absolutely stunning OP Shock

HoldYourBags · 24/03/2018 10:36

Blue Thank you, so lovely of you to say Thanks

LostInShoebiz · 24/03/2018 11:05

If the hair is difficult to style because of coarse texture they should tell you at the beginning and draw the appointment to a close rather than messing it up by having a go! Anything else is just poor service and deserves a complaint.

The cheek of the woman complaining about the hair during the appointment! I've walked out of manicures because the therapist has spent time bitching about how awful my nails are to work with.
