Hairdressers have made me look awful - is this right?

I had black hair from overdying and using darkest brown for the last few years.
I went to salon yesterday and the hairdresser said I needed to have my hair bleached to her the black out which she did and I went bright orange. She then put a mid brown colour on but I'm now left with an orange tinge to my crown & fringe with dark roots and brown lengths.
Not only this but I have a dye stain around my hairline which won't come off.

I was there 4 hours!!! And I've come out looking like a patchy mess. £67 I paid for this.

I'm furious.

Is this normal?!?£?

I'm no hairdresser but I would've thought a colour remover would have been better than bleach. Bleach (especially just one lot) over very dark colour treated hair is asking for trouble.
In my personal experience the orange never fully covers over.
Hope someone can give you some advice on what to do

Hopefullhairday · 10/03/2018 11:30

I'm going back in the week for her to fix it, she's actually made it feel really dry though so I'm really worried. Also my fringe is cut uneven and she used no heat protection spray so my ends are now crispy.

Very disappointed

I wouldn't go back, doesn't sound like she knows what she is doing. Ask for a refund and go somewhere else. £67 sounds very cheap for a 4 hour appointment, but then again I'm in central London and pay a lot more for my colour appointments. Hope you get it sorted!

Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 11:34

um, that's crazy. she should have used colour remover - in fact a clarifying shampoo, over a period of time, would have helped.

I would ask for your money back because it sounds like she's made the situation worse.

then I'd do some DIY colour removal and a deep condition after.

Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 11:35

oh actually she's bleached it....maybe don't do a colour removal at home.

if you want to save the money could you cover the orange bits with a semi for a while? What colour are the roots and what are you aiming for?

Justwaitingforaline · 10/03/2018 11:35

Could you post a photo, OP? So we can see what your hair is currently like and advise

Knowivedonewrong · 10/03/2018 11:37

As an ex hairdresser, do go back OP and get her to correct your hair.

LiquoriceWheel · 10/03/2018 11:41

Hopefullhairday It's good you can go back to get her to fix your hair. I wish I had been more assertive when I had a bad experience at a hairdresser years ago when I was 20.

I had tried bleaching my hair blonde at home (dumb, i know but I was ignorant and emotionally unstable lol). After I had turned my hair orange I turned up to a salon to get them to restore my dark brown hair as best they could.

The hairdresser assigned to me couldn't be less interested even though I was obviously upset. She was really rough with my hair. Was always looking over at someone else and talking. There were dye stains all over the sides of my face. It was so horrible, I've never been back to a hair salon since!

I would be so angry and disappointed as well.

Sevendown · 10/03/2018 11:44

That’s a botched job.

They need to fix it for free ASAP

Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 11:46

Liquorice "I had tried bleaching my hair blonde at home (dumb, i know but I was ignorant and emotionally unstable lol)."

not at all....I know a few people who have been bleaching their hair blonde since they were about 20....otherwise it would cost a fortune! Perhaps you were just unlucky.

Saz1995 · 10/03/2018 11:48

I'm a hairdresser and this made me cringe, make sure you go back and get it sorted.

Hopefullhairday · 10/03/2018 12:04

This is me today - looks bloody awful :(

Hairdressers have made me look awful - is this right?

Justwaitingforaline · 10/03/2018 12:35

Oh, OP, that is awful, I’m so sorry she’s done such a crap job! Colour remover would strip the dark but if she’s bleached it, it will go orange all over.

I don’t feel as though I’d trust her to correct it but would it be possible to phone the salon, explain what’s happened and say that you want to speak to the manager and have the senior stylist correct it? Or go in, because there is no chance they can deny how awful that is. If you have the cash spare, I think I’d be irking for another salon to fix and demanding a refund .

Other option would be to chuck a box dye on it to cover it.

BusterGonad · 10/03/2018 12:46

My opinion is that £67 for 4 hours means they must be a totally cheap and cheerful salon! That's too cheap for them to do a decent job.

Hopefullhairday · 10/03/2018 12:49

I've requested a refund and got an appointment at another salon where I usually go so they can fix it.

Wondering how much chance there is that she will refund me? I'm so annoyed!

OP posts:
Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 12:51

I don't think it looks bad OP

loads of people have different coloured hair in various ways!

I'm still wondering what your original plan was. I really can't see the point of getting a crap hairdresser to correct it - what will they do next? I think refund is better. If you were trying to go back to an original colour then what was that?

Hopefullhairday · 10/03/2018 13:11

I wanted a chocolate brown and specified no red!

OP posts:
meandmytinfoilhat · 10/03/2018 13:18

I wouldn't be happy OP.

I'm glad you've requested your money back but be aware that they will ask for you to come in and correct it.

Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 13:22

so all that happened was, you had over dyed hair and wanted the colour taken down to chocolate brown?

they have screwed this up royally.

If you want to be chocolate brown generally then I think you're safe enough getting a semi done and if you feel confident about doing it yourself, with different saturation level/timing on the lighter parts, you could do that.

Riverside2 · 10/03/2018 13:23

when I say they've screwed this up royally, they have made a huge task out of something that could have been done quite easily.

LiquoriceWheel · 10/03/2018 13:27

Thank you Riverside2 for your comment about bleaching hair. It's so nice to hear after years of regret :) You're very sweet to have commented. Thanks again!

Sorry to hijack thread OP.

CremeFresh · 10/03/2018 13:27

It doesn't look that bad op , but it's not what you were asking for so definitely get a refund.

Oblomov18 · 10/03/2018 13:31

I'm so sorry, I too agree that that photo shows that this has been done VERY poorly.
I hope you get the refund.

Hopefullhairday · 10/03/2018 15:42

She's refunded me which is good but I'm still upset my hair is in such horrible condition now. I'm hoping when I go to the other salon they won't damage it anymore with another dye? Seeing as I want to be darker I'm hoping it won't make it any worse?

OP posts:
QueenOfGaviscon · 10/03/2018 15:48

Maybe ask the other salon for an opalex treatment?
