Help with the hair on my chinny chin chin

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 08/03/2018 09:49

Maybe it's the bright spring morning or the fact that I was 46 last week but I noticed this morning I seem to have developed a layer of downy fuzz on my chin Confused
I'm quite fair so hopefully it's not that noticeable (yet)
Please give me your best tips for hair removal - will it get any worse and do I need to invest in a bic razor?!

Change your name to Darius the goat...

Speaking as a 48yr old, it only gets worse. Leave it while it is soft and fair and fine. Wait with anticipation for the wiry ones, and the dark ones. Oh joy.

I'm now plucking quite a lot, but I find I get little irritated lumps as the hairs try to push through again. I've tried snipping them short, but basically that's stubble. So I get to choose between stubble and spots.

I have a little electric trimmer I might use for a while, see if that works better.

If anyone has a decent solution, please share!

Vitalogy · 08/03/2018 11:10

I'm plucking the dark tough ones and ignoring the downy. Good pair of tweezers needed, I didn't pay loads, was from Boots, under a fiver I think, as long as they fit together precisely. I bought another pair, I have one for upstairs and one for down, catch those feckers if I pass by a mirror.

shakeyourcaboose · 08/03/2018 11:12

I have tweezers everywhere to catch the little blighters!!

elQuintoConyo · 08/03/2018 11:14

Big black wiry ones you start playing with in meetings are my fave!

I pluck them but always seem to have missed a 2-incher if i see my face in a different light BlushAngry

I might start using DH's beard trimmer.

AnnPerkins · 08/03/2018 11:18

And they start spreading down your neck when you pass 48. I use a combination of tweezers, epistick and wax strips. Despite those efforts I still have loads.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 08/03/2018 11:18

I have the dark wiries and yes the regrowth bumps are getting awful, I seem to never be without an attractive painful lump on the jawline. Has anyone had laser wossname on theirs?

LilaoftheGreenwood · 08/03/2018 11:18

Happy International Bearded Women's Day, btw Grin

MissBax · 08/03/2018 11:19

I wax lip, chin and jawline once a month for the fur, and pluck the thick black wiry fuckers in between. Honestly, the feeling of a fresh waxed face is just devine Grin I use the veet sensitive face wax strips and always do it at night so any redness has gone down by morning

DoneDisappeared · 08/03/2018 11:26

Wax or pluck. Consider yourself lucky, mine started showing up in my late teens! 😮😭😭😭

Aprilmightmemynewname · 08/03/2018 11:27

Ann am I to expect a 70's porn star style hairy chest in the future? Grin

QuestionableMouse · 08/03/2018 11:30

A good light, a good pair of tweezers and a magnifying mirror for the thick dark ones.

I shave the fuzz off every few days.

picklemepopcorn · 08/03/2018 11:36

Oh yes, I've recently graduated to a magnifying mirror!

What joy.

Hetaera · 08/03/2018 11:58

Will using the Lumea on them help? I am tempted to buy one if it would be any use on the wiry little bastards.

Vitalogy · 08/03/2018 12:21

Nasal hair trimmer any one. Which I use, not for my ears yet though.

AnnPerkins · 08/03/2018 13:07

Yes April, it will be due to a combination of chin hairs spreading downwards and pubic hair spreading upwards.

LanaorAna2 · 08/03/2018 13:55

Nose hair trimmer seconded - this also brilliant for eyebrow shaping. Get eyebrows shaped by professional, and nosetrim the regrowth so it keeps the swanky shape without forking out every fortnight.

bleughhh · 08/03/2018 14:24

OMG - don't shave!!! Threading, plucking or waxing I reckon. (Go for the threading option myself with occasion tweeze)

Aprilmightmemynewname · 08/03/2018 14:42

May need to learn to crochet, I could have a built-in warmer with fluted edges for the winter!!

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 08/03/2018 14:49

Lots to look forward to! Hmm

I’m 33 this has been my life for some time. Using an epilator to get the dark wiry ones. Is much quicker and more comprehensive than plucking individual ones.

unintentionalthreadkiller · 08/03/2018 14:55

I've had two wiry ones on my chin since I was about 30. Awful. Thankfully don't have the fuzz yet but I'm just waiting...

I'd also like to know how the fuckers go from not there to about half an inch to literally overnight.

Ginza · 08/03/2018 14:58

Thanks to a hormonal imbalance I have been attempting to tackle this in many different ways since my teens (25 years ago).

The best option I've found is an epilator, used weekly. I use a Braun SilkEpil, but I'm sure there are other good options.

Hurts like fuck the first time (take paracetemol beforehand) but very much less thereafter. Really good results.

mommybear1 · 08/03/2018 15:09

I second the epilator hurts initially but you get used to it Wink

Mollypolly2610 · 08/03/2018 23:34

I read men were shaving their moustaches and beards off for charity. I think I will join them !
