Tell me it's going to be ok...

I saw Dr Emma Wedgeworth at Dr Sam Bunting's clinic

I can't remember how much the first one was because it was wrapped up in a full consultation about my skincare routine and treatment options for my acne

Was about £300 for 3 areas I think, that's Harley St prices however. Someone in the SE that isn't central London would presumably be cheaper. I would still only go for a consultant however

She is a consultant dermatologist in the NHS with a private cosmetic dermatology practice

She's done a few YouTube videos on Dr Sam's channel. Would recommend highly

lulalalala · 23/02/2018 18:04

Zippyswife I go to a place in Petts Wood run by Dr Vas (he's got a facebook page). He's really good and has a bit of a waiting list.

I had botox done in 2 places which cost £180 and then fillers under my eyes on the top of my cheeks which were £300 (but that was the fancy filler).

Fillers work for sagging on the lower face.

IJustLostTheGame · 23/02/2018 19:29

Ollivander84s forehead clinches it for me.
It looks great.
I'm getting it.

Ollivander84 · 23/02/2018 19:34

Oh god, I'm an enabler now Blush
I didn't actually ever want it, then my foundation was sitting in my lines and bugging me. Had it done and thought, what a fuss I made, barely hurt and was absolutely fine. I am having a small top up in my 11 lines as she gave me the option to completely freeze my face or start with just a small amount and come back for a free top up

It was done by an a&e doctor which reassured me a bit more and as I'm neutropenic I had to check with my consultant

timeistight · 23/02/2018 19:37

I've developed deep wrinkles at the sides of my mouth that catch food. Would it work for them?

MozzchopsThirty · 23/02/2018 19:39

I love Botox IMHO it is the best £200 i spend
It makes such a difference to how I look

Estellanpip · 23/02/2018 19:43

Botox in between my brows makes me look really refreshed.
I wouldn't have any in the crows feet again, though, until I actually get crows feet. I had the area done to stop the lines when I smiled, but it just caused the lines to migrate to under my eyes and gave me under eye bags , until the Botox wore off.

jkl0311 · 23/02/2018 20:34

How long do the results actually last?

MozzchopsThirty · 23/02/2018 20:51

Varies from person to person
Depends on metabolism
Mine lasts about 4 months
Some people can get away with 6+ months

TossDaily · 23/02/2018 21:04

Getting excited now. But also a teensy bit nervous.

MozzchopsThirty · 23/02/2018 21:13

Are you seeing someone who's been recommended and has given you a free consultation

TossDaily · 23/02/2018 21:58

They're highly recommended - on here as well as in real life!

I didn't ask for a free consultation - I just booked online before I lost my nerve.

They are qualified nurses. It looks very above board. They specialise in natural Botox - they won't do the frozen face look, the website says - they start very subtly and want you to go back after two weeks so can see how it's taken.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 23/02/2018 22:14

I've been having Botox once a year for the past 6 six years and I'm 44 now. It's kept the lines at bay and is better than any face cream. I never tell and nobody asks, but folks do say I look good for my age. I'm not frozen either, can still move my face.

zippyswife · 24/02/2018 06:50

When are you going Toss? Keep us posted.

What’s the best age to start doing this? If you leave it till the lines are too bad is it less effective?

Ulysses · 24/02/2018 07:10

I had it done about 3 weeks ago to get rid of my 11s and it's worked a treat. I paid £180 for an aesthetic nurse who used Juvederm. I haven't told anyone but I feel that I look refreshed and it's made me want to take care of my appearance a bit more and I do feel more confident.

It Is a bit weird not being able to physically frown but in a good way. I'm 43. I've booked myself in for 3 months time again.

zippyswife · 24/02/2018 07:14

Banana your Harley st experience sounds perfect. I need to find something more affordable that I can maintain if it’s every 3-4 months. As you say elsewhere in the SE would probably be cheaper.

How do you go about finding somewhere? This is a route I really didn’t think I’d be going down and I really don’t want to start asking around in RL.

TossDaily · 24/02/2018 08:06

12:30. I'll keep you posted.

zippyswife I know exactly what you mean. I wouldn't have believed this of myself for a second. But the aging has been sudden, and the worst thing about it has been the loss of confidence I didn't even know I had. I need to feel better, and if this is what it takes, so be it.

As for finding somewhere, I did tons of research into pitfalls, read reviews, searched on here, listened carefully to conversations going on around me (Wink), looked online...but it's still a leap of faith, I guess.

Nervous...

OP posts:
zippyswife · 24/02/2018 12:15

Can I ask how old you are Toss? I’m 40 and it’s been sudden too. Just this past year. I completely relate to the loss of confidence.

Best of luck. You’re probably waiting to go in just now.

bananafish81 · 24/02/2018 12:34

Ulysses sorry to be thick but isn't Juvederm filler rather than botox?

zippy I think looking for a member of a professional body is a good start (member of BAAPS or the equivalent body for dermatologists)

Fosterdog123 · 24/02/2018 13:14

I've been having Botox for my 11s for more than 12 years now. It lasts me about 5 months ish. It's subtle and not at all noticeable. I don't get weird eyebrows or tell-tale signs. Best I've ever used is where I go now - the consultant clinic. Have a look at their Instagram page. Dr Raph travels round the world training other doctors.

TossDaily · 24/02/2018 14:04

zippyswife I'll be 44 in May Shock

Well, I survived! The nurse was lovely, it wasn't really painful and was all quite relaxed. She said it should take up to two weeks to see the full effects. I'm back in two weeks for a follow-up appointment to see if any tweaks are needed.

It all felt very...normal.

OP posts:
Pooshweens · 24/02/2018 15:24

I've been having it since I was 34

I love it as it just makes you look more perky and fresh, and if you see someone good, the effect is quite natural looking

My DH has no idea but often says my forehead looks smooth! I get a lot of compliments when it's in effect

Sadly it only lasts about 6-8 weeks on me but for my mum, 6 months +

zippyswife · 24/02/2018 15:27

Toss glad it went well!

Banana thanks for the tip- I’ll start researching.

TossDaily · 24/02/2018 22:19

I caved and told DP. I can't keep anything from him Grin

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 24/02/2018 22:21

I'm having a top up next Saturday, probably just between my brows
