Are LK Bennett shoes worth the price?

Starting a new job in about a month or so and desperately need some decent new shoes.

The nicest ones I seem to have found are these LK Bennett ones - www.houseoffraser.co.uk/shoes-and-boots/lkbennett-floret-closed-courts/d759162.pd?ef_id=WjGChwAAASr@DxiK:20180222185311:s
The only issue is the £195 price tag. They're more expensive than any shoes I'd normally buy, but I'm also aware of the fact that I'll be wearing them for 12 hours a day. Has anyone had experience with these shoes or other LK Bennett ones - are they comfortable enough for work and would they last me a few years?

The other options I've been looking at are a Kurt Geiger pair (£100), Dune Aurora (£70), Stuart Weitzman (around £300). Stuart Weitzman seem to have good reviews but a little too pricey for me, I haven't seen much written about the other two.

Otherwise if anyone would like to suggest some other shoes I'd be grateful to hear those too! My only criteria are black suede court shoes, heel between 3-4 inches. For some reason I prefer the soles to be cream rather than black. Decent quality (not New Look or Primark!) and comfy enough to wear all day, but not going to break the bank - I'd say my limit is around £200, assuming they'd last a while.

My feet and I thank you all in advance! Grin

I am afraid I am going to go against the grain and recommend LKB courts for comfort. I have narrow feet.

I don't own floret but have many other LKB stilettos in higher heel heights. Their courts are very comfortable, sandals less so. The courts may require slight breaking in wearing tights but after that, they hug your feet and I can practically glide on office carpet.

I do not wear them to pound pavements - that would destroy the heel of any stiletto.

I am sure you can get equally if not more comfortable shoes in M&S or Clarks but none so pretty and delicate as an LKB stiletto that works on office carpet that I could wear all day.

Echo other posters to buy in the sales. £130 is a good price on sale but if you wait longer, you may get cheaper though not necessarily available in that size, colour or style.

I have had a pair of Dune - sooo uncomfortable

I have 3 pairs of Nine West, love them, so comfy for walking and standing in all day!

Hepzibar · 22/02/2018 20:20

Clarks courts for me. Got the grey up thread and various incarnations and colours of the Kendra range. Am known for my shoes (at work) and people are always surprised when I tell them they are Clarks.

Kurt Geiger - very uncomfortable, LKB - same and poor quality.

BluebellGal · 22/02/2018 20:33

I did the same as you, new job LK. Bennett shoes. In reality they sit unworn under my desk. I do sometimes pop them on with a dress but I can’t walk outside with them. They are sloppy on pavements and I walk much slower than usual! I’ve got the lowest heel as well!

Instead I live in my patent leather loafers from M&S. Comfy and they look smart. Even go with dresses nicely. But more importantly i can pop out for lunch quickly without risk of falling over.

blueshoes · 22/02/2018 20:42

Ah, bluebell I go high with LKB.

Almost every brand can cope with lower chunkier heels and be more comfy than LKB. But for the tall skinny stiletto heel with the sensuous lines in the office, only LKB will do it for me.

Muddlingalongalone · 22/02/2018 20:47

My 2 x comfiest high shoes are Kurt Geiger

Troutfin · 22/02/2018 20:54

I bought a medium heeled pair of LKBs for a wedding a couple of years ago. They were about the same price as yours but I went ahead as they were absolutely gorgeous.

Half way through the day, I looked down to see that the coating on the soles had sort of exploded and were fanning out around my feet, making me look like one of those elaborate chickens.
I had to spend another £30 or so fixing the soles and replacing the heel tips before I could wear them again. I had done very little walking - or even standing - on them. And they are extremely uncomfortable, although I'm admittedly not great with heels.

I've only worn them once since and have sworn to NEVER buy LKB ever again.

A1Sharon · 22/02/2018 21:32

I have a pair of nude LKB sledge, for about 10 years, and a pair of those Floret ones you linked to in emerald green for a few years.
They are not comfortable, at all. I use them for social occasions where I know I can sit down for most of it!

mammmamia · 22/02/2018 21:40

I quite like them but I only wear them inside the office and always buy them in the sale.

Fashionjunkie · 22/02/2018 22:07

Completely seconding / thirding Clark’s.. I wear Kelda Hope & the higher Kendra court shoe to work all week long & also throw in the odd Caddy Belle navy suede over the knee boot too. I’m always getting comments, no one has a clue they’re Clark’s!

The comfiest shoe going. By a country mile. You just need to search through the fugly to get the decent ones.. Wink

WillowySnicket · 22/02/2018 22:12

I found that I actually couldn't wear my LK heels for more than 10 min at a time...they were the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned, and I love me a high heel! I even tried breaking them in around the house for days with socks on.

Kurt Geiger are my go to for comfy heels. Great quality and so comfortable.

LanaorAna2 · 22/02/2018 22:17

No.

They might be worth it in their endless sale.

Mulberrysilk · 22/02/2018 22:24

A friend of mine has a similar pair from LKBennett. She says they cut the heels off her. She only wears them if she'll be sitting all night.

CakeNinja · 22/02/2018 22:57

I love their dresses and they last well, but find their footwear just quite boring.
Russell and Bromley is where I buy most of my work shoes from, or Office, but I wear flats as am on my feet all day with children around so high heels are impractical.
For heels I tend to go to Kurt Geiger first. And find them quite comfortable for a night out.

TSSDNCOP · 23/02/2018 10:35

I own about 50 pairs of LKB. IMO sandals, Sling backs and boots are divinely comfortable whereas courts kill. Fair play to the DOC for not kicking off those sledges with a scream of relief.

LouiseCollins28 · 23/02/2018 10:56

Hi Issy

Very best of luck for your new job, I hope it goes really well. Looks like you have had varied advice, FWIW I have pairs of shoes from all 3 of those makers so hopefully I can be of help. I've got narrow feet to and I have to admit I've never had an issue with LKBs because of that. I find LKB heels comfy even with a higher heel. I have had problems is with long life though.

IMO the Floret heels are super gorgeous and sound ideal for your office environment, but for a couple of things. First of, at RRP of £195 I think they are actually quite expensive, v. nice but not the best value, maybe at £135 its different.. All depends on your viewpoint and budget of course, but value wise I'd be tempted with the Dune ones personally. Always got on well with Dune, LKB and KG.

Of course, LKB are very nice and wearable, Duchess of Cambs swears by them doesn't she :-) but if you have just one pair for work beware. They are gorgeous and IMO comfy, but a bit delicate so if you are on your feet walking lots (outside especially) then you'll find they wear very quickly unless you have another pair to rotate with. Given you can get 2 pairs (maybe a KG and a Dune) for the same money if it were me I might do that.

HTH
Louise

jingscrivvens · 23/02/2018 13:36

I really like LK Bennett's esp the court shoes, but I have size 9 feet and I find it hard to find any heels in my size. And I only wear them on special occasions, because I don't wear heels normally so not sure about being all day in them.
Although I had a pair of ballet flats from them though that were ruined after wearing 3 times....
Maybe I should be trying a different brand - who does good heels in a size 9!?

TSSDNCOP · 23/02/2018 16:33

jing try Hobbs

That is a serious financial investment lol.

SamanthaBrique · 23/02/2018 23:34

I have a pair of nude LKB sledge, for about 10 years

Are you the Duchess of Cambridge @A1Sharon ???

TSSDNCOP · 24/02/2018 08:46

welsh are you DH? Grin

No kids until old but a lucrative career, plus I'm quite fat and shoes always fit Grin

CharisMater · 24/02/2018 08:53

You'd be crazy to wear those for 12 hours a day. Unless you live 30 seconds from station and and work 30 seconds from station at the other end or drive to work, why would you try so hard?

Nobody is going to demand that you wear heels that high to work. I used to work in The City where the dress code was stuffy and traditional and not one person every challenged me about my far more sensible shoes.

whoareyoukidding · 24/02/2018 09:12

Ive bought a few pairs of LKBennett shoes over the years and I've never found them very comfortable. I also think they are vastly over priced, as some others have said.

specialsubject · 24/02/2018 09:40

12 hours a day in spike staggerers? I just want to know what the job is...
