Talk me down from the £63 foundation cliff - or slap me on the back and say well done

So, my skin is menopausal and crap, it hates me. It’s red, blotchy, hot, has pustules and yet a visit to space NK results in a little pot of foundation magic that blurs me to perfection and doesn’t itch but it’s £63.

I’ve probably spent 5 x that since reaching menopause searching for a foundation that doesn’t age me or look hideous and settle in every line and pore.

So, would you do it? Am I mad? I’m certainly desperate.

Buy it!
There is too much crap in our lives... something that makes you feel and look better is priceless!

moonmaker · 15/02/2018 21:57

Definitely go for it

Fosterdog123 · 15/02/2018 22:00

If it does what you say, £63 is a bargain!! Share the love too op - which one is it?

Blessingsatbedtime · 15/02/2018 22:02

Whoah.... Have a little think to yourself here.... By no means am I saying don't treat yourself (we've all done it) but take 10 mins to look at the cheaper options.
Love bare minerals, Charlotte tilbury and diego Dalla Palma.

Newseeker · 15/02/2018 22:02

Sorry, didn’t mean to hide anything but don’t want to be a walking ad either. It’s the chantecaille future skin. It’s twice the price of my usual YSL stuff but I was swayed by the skincare aspect.

Bare minerals powder breaks me out in hives 🙁 which one
do you love?

I bought a £60 foundation in a whim once from space nk. It was chantecaille girl foundtion. It was amazing, I've never had such a good one since and I buy brands like ysl touche eclat foundation and Estée Lauder double west light foundation. Seriosly thinking if going back to chantecaille. Buy it!

SpornStar · 15/02/2018 22:05

I have a pot of it here and I don’t rate it at all. I keep trying it, thinking I’ll learn to love it but I have £10 foundations which give better results.

WellTidy · 15/02/2018 22:06

Cross post! It's the same foundation. Great stuff.

Mulberrysilk · 15/02/2018 22:06

If it works stick with it.

You easily could spend that on a lot of unused, unsuitable cheaper make up.

Newseeker · 15/02/2018 22:07

Oh no, why don’t you love it spornstar? Are you young and beautiful or old and wrinkly like me?

OP posts:
Newseeker · 15/02/2018 22:07

Well then welltidy, shall I get it? Sounds fab!

I’m going to go to SpaceNK tomorrow to gaze at this wonder product. Do they do samples? I also have menopausal skin - patchy and dry. Lovely!

AgentProvocateur · 15/02/2018 22:10

PS - definitely get it.

WellTidy · 15/02/2018 22:11

Yes. Buy it. It was fantastic for me. I am 42, look a big older I think, no skin issues. But it sat nicely, excellent colour match, very even and light in texture but it was a proper foundation. I am going to buy it again, sod it.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 15/02/2018 22:11

Ha, was going to say, oh you mean Future Skin Grin
Fab stuff and lasts for ages.

Newseeker · 15/02/2018 22:13

Agent - I got a sample in a little pot. I told the lovely sales assistant that my menopausal skin created havoc with anything and everything at the moment and I didn’t want to invest that much if it didn’t play nicely. She was adamant I tried a sample rather than bought it and returned.

SpornStar · 15/02/2018 22:14

Definitely closer to old and wrinkly than young and beautiful, unfortunately. The coverage is poor and all attempts to build it for better coverage just result in it clinging to my dry, flaky patches. I was sold the promise of fresh looking dewy skin but it doesnt deliver anything of the sort.

Thankfully I discovered Chanel CC cream which papers over the cracks beautifully.

wtffgs · 15/02/2018 22:14

Buy it!

I'm considerably skinter but wish any woman going through the shitstorm that is the menopause, every bit of good cheer she can get!! Grin

Bettybettybettybetty · 15/02/2018 22:17

If things are thAt bad, do it.

Have you tried the Becca full coverage stuff? It’s too thick for me but coveTa up my 30 year old hot flushes (thanks ovarian cancer...)

Newseeker · 15/02/2018 22:20

No, I haven’t tried Becca, is it Good? I need non-glowy non-itchy, pale stuff.

SpornStar · 15/02/2018 22:23

Newseeker What shade have they matched you with?

Blessingsatbedtime · 15/02/2018 22:24

Complexion remedy. I have to say it's my personal favourite. However we are all so different and what one recommends can be an utter bag of shit for someone else can't it?
My daughter said I looked greasy the other day. (Wasn't wearing bare minerals) so I'm now trying a loose powder for the first time in 43 yrs. Think I'm getting on OK with it, it's just a real cheap one from superdrug.

Blessingsatbedtime · 15/02/2018 22:26

Newseeker
Agreed samples are fab!

QuentinSummers · 15/02/2018 22:26

I just spent £61 on chantecaille! Tried a sample, it was awesome, then spent probably the same trying to find a cheaper alternative. I don't regret it at all. Love chantecaille
