Dewy make up for over 40

For a long time I've been using full coverage foundation as I thought anything too shiny would emphasise any lines or wrinkles.
My usuals are Mac studio sculpt, Nars and Chanel, but I'm now thinking my makeup looks too "Flat"
I'm looking for something dewy but with a bit of coverage.
Any recommendations would be gladly welcomed.

Have you tried Laura Mercier? I got the Candleglow for my wedding and it was lovely.

I think less is definitely more over 40. A heavier base is good for evenings and a more "radiant" base makes you look fresher. Agree Candleglow is a lovely foundation or look at a tinted moisturiser and then use a concealer where you need more coverage?

I like Lancôme teint miracle, some sunscreens also have good coverage like heliocare

I have the Charlotte tilbury foundation- the light weight one, and it’s been a revelation and it lasts all day!

I look tired out with foundation now, at 55. I’m much better with tinted moisturiser and then colour (as in) blush and even a bit of highlighter.

Stay away from foundation. Try Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser. I’ve got a sample of No7 BB at the moment. It’s quite good and less ageing than foundation. I binned two Estée Lauder Foundations before Xmas when I saw photos of me looking grey and “overdone”.

Following too. Just turned 40 last month.

Panicking as I've never really had a proper skincare routine even though I have tons of products.

Went for my very first facial at the weekend and realised that I need to pay more attention to my skin.

I'm using Aveda products and my foundation is Dior star which was expensive at £42 but is horrible

I used Snapchat with my dd recently and love the way my skin looked! It's like a miracle. That's the look I want :)

Chantecaille Future Skin has a lovely, fresh finish but is a bit spendy.

Estée Lauder tinted daywear moisturiser

I'm mid forties and stopped wearing any foundation about five years ago. It sits in the cracks regardless of price in my experience. I exfoliate and use a decent non oily moisturiser (one of the Lush ones, Enzymion I think) and leave it at that.

Thank you for the recommendations. Think I'll brave town barefaced at the weekend and head to our local department store and try and get a few colour matches.

I'm 46 and can't go past the It Cosmetics CC cream. It's amazing. It seems to set OVER pores and lines and I get so many compliments!

I had the same feeling, that I looked grey and flat despite expensive skincare and foundations. I went to Mac yesterday and had a make up lesson with good tips and came away with 3 products. I could have bought more but didn't get carried away.
She put Strobe (highlighter) all over my face before foundation. A sheer foundation, highlighter for under eyes and an almost nude blush (I would have walked past it and chosen more colour). I can honestly say it knocked 10 years off and I know how to replicate it at home. Products below if that helps anyone. I already had Strobe at home, which I loved, but had forgotten about.

Watching with interest, I got a cheap BB cream last week, but its very orangey

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultrawear is lovely, and worth the money. At a more high street price, try Bourjois City Radiance.

I disagree that you need to junk the foundation- look at how you apply it, certainly, but if you have any discolouration to correct, it's better to use an appropriate foundation than to cake on the concealer.

Watching! I have loved Christian Dior’s Airflash foundation for a while but I swear it was almost overnight and then it suddenly aged me.

Mac have lots of lighter foundation alternatives, Face & body is a great one and they have a barely there skin tint which is nice, and various tinted moisturiser options.

Bobbi Brown is good for maturer skin too.

Has anyone tried Bobbi Brown BB cream? A SA used it on me once and I liked it, so that might be the next one I buy.

NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturiser is good, sort of medium cover.

Does anyone think Mac foundations smell Lind of “chemically”?

Never used Mac, but Nars Matte TM has a chemical smell.

BitofFun - I use Lancôme Teint Idole Ultrawear and I don't think it's dewy or glowy. It's their fullest coverage foundation - and it's great for that and it's staying power, but it doesn't give me a glowy look or anything. I do find though that using an illuminating primer thingie underneath helps a bit

I use Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua day to day and I love it. It's super light and dewy and people are always saying that my skin glows when I wear it. Not bad for a 45 year old.. ;)
