Where the heck do you buy shirts if you have bigger boobs?

I've been and tried on some shirts this morning, managed to find one but it's only ok so it might go back. The problem I have is that they all gape on the one button by my boobs. I'm a size 12 and they all fit lovely everywhere else apart from this one area; I'm a 32E. The 14s were all too big and look silly. I'm looking for a casual shirt to wear with jeans, but I want to be able to do it up and I want it to have buttons. I'm not keen on the over the head style shirt tops. So ladies with more generous boobs any suggestions? Thanks everyone.

Not sure about sizing, but marks and Spencer do shirts with extra hidden buttons across the boobs. I'm a 34dd and a size 10 fit comfortably on me.

Wear a thin vest or came underneath and leave the top few buttons undone.

Mabelface · 26/01/2018 13:27

Pepperberry

NearlyChristmasNow · 26/01/2018 13:30

cami underneath

Also Bravissimo/Pepperberry as Madlizzy says

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2018 13:31

Stitch them closed.

stoplickingthetelly · 26/01/2018 13:36

Thanks going to check out m and s and pepperberry. I've worn vest tops underneath before but would really prefer not to have to.

I am almost exactly the same size as you and the answer is simple... I don’t! I used to spend ages looking for smart work shirts and always felt they didn’t fit very well and was never really comfortable. Now I wear other items (dresses mainly) which fit me so much better and I still feel smart but comfortable too!

stoplickingthetelly · 26/01/2018 13:43

fishfingers I fear that this may be the case and I am, in fact, searching for the impossible.

Pepperberry actually make them for different boob sizes.

NearlyChristmasNow · 26/01/2018 13:51

I've always had this problem too and hardly ever wear shirts as a result. Theoretically you could buy the bigger size to fit around the bust and then get it altered to make the lower part of the shirt more shapely. Depends how much you want to spend.

Trampire · 26/01/2018 13:56

I'm a 34G. I'm afraid as pp said, I don't buy buttoned shirts anymore.

I've flirted with pepperberry but always find the clothes quite frumpy. I can't put my finger on why.

stoplickingthetelly · 26/01/2018 14:01

Thanks everyone. Surely there has got to be a market for this. Why is no one (except pepperberry) making them? 🤔

Asos do a bigger bust range I’ve not tried it though

CountFosco · 26/01/2018 14:03

I use safety pins or sew shut over the boobs. It's just laziness from the manufacturers and a way of cutting costs. More buttons would solve the issue.

AnaViaSalamanca · 26/01/2018 14:07

I am a size 8 and have to wear a 12 to not have the dreaded gape! So frutrating.

I have almost given up on shirts like PP. I never wear cotton shirts anymore unless it is oversized and mostly open with shorts in the summer. I wear blouses or silk shirts (check equipment ot the kooples for example). These fit to smaller shoulder and since they are not as stiff and kind of fall over your body so there is not much gape, I go just one size up and it feels slightly oversized but not like I am a child wearing her mother's clothes.

I have a seamstress who sews the front closed, so a couple of buttons from the collar, up to the last button on the bottom. Costs about a fiver.

Wollah, shirt doesn't pop open!

I hate wearing camis under shirts, it kind of defeats the purpose to me.

crackerjacket · 26/01/2018 14:13

Buying a bigger size doesn't work for me. I'm a 10 but a 16 still pops open.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 26/01/2018 14:15

Going to say pepperberry

Ive put on too much weight to wear it but it was awesome

Very flattering and no popping open

Downhillatfifty · 26/01/2018 14:15

Even though i’m a size 18 ( top cause of my bust, bottoms i’m a 16) I still have this problem. Either it’s a fitted style and pulls at the bust or it’s shapeless and huge all over.
I never buy shirts just “smart” tops.

Search Crystal Piin on Amazon, I ordered some and solve the issue nicely. My only criticism is that the head of the Pin isn't as flat as I thought.

Made to measure sounds great but £80 is a bit out of my budget for a casual shirt unfortunately. Sure they look fantastic though. Those who have them sewn up, can you get them on/off ok? This might be a solution.

WhyteKnyght · 26/01/2018 20:20

I sew a hook and eye in between the buttons on the chest to stop it gaping.
