Full coverage, pale foundation for DRY skin?

BluePony · 21/01/2018 18:15

I'd love a full coverage, matte and super pale foundation but every time I get a full coverage, it clings to my dry patches, even with primer and moisturiser; does such a thing exist?

I've tried:
Nars Luminous
Illamasqua rich liquid
MAC studio fix- not thick enough
Dior Forever
Benefit (oxygen one)

Every Maybelline, Revlon, L'Oréal, Rimmel, Max Factor one.

The drugstore ones are not pale enough/heavy enough and the high end ones club and cake around my nose/chin.

Cling * not club

Bobbi Brown serum foundation? Quite high coverage, but is moisturising so doesn’t sit too badly on dry skin. I have psoriasis and this is the one I use, with the Bobbi Brown stick foundation as concealer where I need it.

Matte foundation is never going to look good on dry skin! Finish with a tiny bit of translucent powder to bring the shine down if needs be.

Gizmo79 · 21/01/2018 18:25

I was going to suggest Benefit but you have already tried it.
I use simple deep moisturiser first then body shop B.B. cream, then the benefit oxy Foundation. I have horrendous dry skin, and work in a very dry environment but normally survive 12 hour shifts with that combo.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage foundation is good for dry skin and gives a nice glow. I am 48 though so possibly have more mature skin than you do. It was recommended to me by a friend or else I don't think I would have thought to try. I got a free sample to see if it suited me before I committed.

Rylanmakesmyheartsmile · 21/01/2018 18:39

I also have psoriasis and I have used Clinique Perfectly Real for years. It has now been discontinued Angry but I have just bought Even Better Glow on the recommendation of the Clinique girl. She said it is basically the same as Perfectly Real. There is the regular Even Better one which is matte and then the Glow one which she recommended specifically because of my dry patches. I haven't tried it yet but if it's as good as my Perfectly Real I'll be happy

Bobbi Brown stick foundation.

The palest shade is nearly white.

It's not drying and due to the stick formula you can build up the coverage in the areas you need it. It's generally a medium coverage but builds really well.

Chewbecca · 21/01/2018 18:59

Might be worth working on your skin rather than changing the foundation? It sounds like all foundations are going to do the same. I'm not sure what to do about the dry skin but just seems like that might be easier to achieve?

NancyJoan · 21/01/2018 19:01

I get on well with the Armani Lyminous Silk, which is not entirely matte, but is a good finish. What are you using on your skin, though. That’s what you need to sort out.

WipsGlitter · 21/01/2018 19:01

I use a Bobbi Brown liquid one in porcelain it's the only one I've found that matches my very pale skin.

Choccogoingcuckoo · 21/01/2018 19:11

I second @wipsglitter's post, Bobbi Brown do an even paler shade 'alabaster' if you're milky white.

DancingDogs81 · 21/01/2018 21:32

I was just about to start the same thread! I suffer from awful red, flaky patches on my face (dermatologist baffled, been about a year and nothing seems to improve it, not even hydrocortisone cream). It's maddening that I can't even cover up the redness as makeup just sits in the dry areas and accentuates them. Sad
I went to Sephora to get some samples and they were utterly unhelpful - very rushed and four out of five samples were the wrong colour for me!
I feel truly stuck. I've used Clinique Even Better for years but it sits in the dryness these days.

I’ve just come through a duty free shop in Europe ( not UK ) and asked for CC cream/foundation. The representative said they didn’t have that but now they have BIY! This you mix with your regular moisturiser . One drop gives sheer coverage, two drops medium coverage and three drops fuller coverage. Might be good for you and your dry skin patches. I bought it but not tried it as in a hotel tonight awaiting a further flight tomorrow.

LemonysSnicket · 21/01/2018 22:13

Order a water cushion foundations from Yesstyle.
Or YSL touché eclat foundation mixed with some cetaphil.
Use a rough flannel to wash your face on a morning as it will remove dry flaky patches.

LemonysSnicket · 21/01/2018 22:14

Of sorry none of them are Matt.
You won’t pick out win a Matt one I don’t think, just apply some powder lightly after .

DancingDogs81 · 21/01/2018 22:51

I've heard the YSL one mentioned before...maybe I'll just bite the bullet and buy it Confused

ClandestineAdulation · 21/01/2018 22:53

I’ve syarted using a Chanel foundation lately and the colour is perfect for me (pretty pale but there is an even lighter shade), the coverage is good and it looks fine on the dry patches of my skin. They also have a really good serum which I’ve been using with it too.

DancingDogs81 · 22/01/2018 09:28

Which one is it, Clandestine?

ClandestineAdulation · 22/01/2018 19:26

DancingDogs81

It’s Les Beiges in No12 Rose. I think there is just one shade lighter, but I love this one and it makes me look like I have at least a -little- bit of colour!

youngnomore · 22/01/2018 19:32

Clinique beyond perfecting. I have similar skin to yours. But I have more oily patches then dry. It’s the best foundation ever. Full coverage & matt.

wowfudge · 22/01/2018 19:44

There's a Clarin's Extra Comfort foundation which is lovely on - I have red, dry patches on my cheeks if I leave my skin to its own devices and this gives great cover without feeling heavy or drying. Clarins foundations are more yellow-toned than some and available in pale shades.

I've found the REN face mask with glycolic acid and Nip & Fab Extreme Night pads have improved my skin no end. Abrasive scrubs of any sort do nothing.

user1510568216 · 23/01/2018 09:31

Clarins everlasting. I'm really pale & use shade 105. Best foundation I've ever used. Great coverage but looks natural.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/01/2018 09:35

Bobbi Brown have a new long lasting full coverage one out and are giving a weeks sample.

Worth a try.

Liquoricecomfit · 23/01/2018 09:37

Estée Lauder Perfectionist Serum gives good coverage and fab hydration and tends to looks lovely
on drier skin.

Ask for a match and sample before buying
