Anyone else struggle to get a bra that fits?

I think maybe I'm just the wrong shape for bras!

I'm slim and small busted, but by boobs seems to sit quite far apart on my body. So small cup sizes aren't wide enough/the cups are too close together and the wire sits on my boob. Bigger cup sizes are wide enough but totally empty at the top (even if I scoop).

Where am I going wrong??

Does anyone else really struggle to get a decent fitting bra?!

Okay so my whole adult life I've been wearing 34/36 G/GG and using that boob or bust calculator it recommends 32JJ or K Shock Will need to find some to try on and report back. Where even sells bras that big?!

Definitely let me know how you find the 32 back. Maybe I just need to grit my teeth and get on with it...

It calculated me as a 30 E!!

I can't breathe just thinking about it! HOW?

Do you scoop your boobs into the cup?

Zapdos · 18/01/2018 16:41

Yup, I scoop. There's not that much to scoop though. I'm genuinely quite flat chested. Could happily run a marathon with no bra etc. So the E cup measurement is highly amusing!

Im the same op. Fairly wide gap between them, and frankly after 4 babies they are saggy and empty on top. I prefer a balconette(actually bloody prefer none) but not too full a cup one iyswim. Really could do with a 31 band Confused

KatharinaRosalie · 18/01/2018 16:46

Have you tried half-cup bras? Often a solution if bras should be the correct size but gape on top

I have wideset but not large boobs too. It's a tough shape to fit. Mimi Holliday fit brilliantly but are ££££

I have a balconette bra from figleaves by a brand called b'tempted (or something like that) which also fits well.

Never found anything else.

Somewhere I have saved a mumsnet thread about bras for wideset boobs. Will see if I can find it.

By the way with wideset smallish boobs it is so important that the bra fits, as otherwise half your boob tissue will escape the underwire out to the sides and your boobs will seem even smaller.

You do really need the right band size too as if it's too big the cups will not sit right and will again let the boob tissue escape

lindyloo57 · 18/01/2018 19:18

i tried the boob or bust to measure myself, i wear a 34 d it says i could be a 30 f, but i have tried a 32 bra on, back to front, i can hardly do it up so tight leaving deep red marks.

PickAChew · 18/01/2018 19:24

M&s bras do tend to be tighter in the band, IME

Branleuse · 18/01/2018 20:32

dont bother with M&S bras. Theyre sized really weirdly. I can never get them to fit properly in any size

SapphireSeptember · 18/01/2018 21:28

Me, I can never find bras in my size, and I want cotton ones dammit! Polymide just makes me sweaty. I don't want padding or wiring either. I gave up and got some cotton bralettes in my dress size and they're very comfortable.

Happy50 · 18/01/2018 21:44

Im very similar.
Very slim under my breast but my breasts are very wide apart.
I went to Rigby and Pellier and they measured me 32 E.
I couldn't breathe in that size so they compromised and I bought 34 C.
Apart from the bras below it was the most comfortable I wore up to that date. I still wanted to rip it off as soon as I came in from work

However - I had a bra made by luva huva - it was a revealation. I sent in all my measurements and they are so comfortable. They are handmade in organic cotton/bamboo etc.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 19/01/2018 00:55

How much was the handmade one?

Zapdos · 19/01/2018 09:37

Yeah I probably need to venture further than M&S. The city where I live is RUBBISH for shops (no Debenhams, JL, HoF) so my choices are quite limited unless I want to brave the Metro Centre (shudder).

The Luva Huva website is great! One of the models on there looks to be a similar shape to me. Their bras are a bit less structured than what I would normally go for though. Hmmm.

I always think I could fit a 3rd breast in between mine 😅 and can never really fill a full cup bra so find that balcony style bras work best for me

Zapdos · 19/01/2018 10:25

Grin plenty of room for a third here too!

I did try a balcony bra on but the cup stood quite far away from my body. I was losing the will by this point so gave up. But I can see how theoretically they would be a better shape for me!

I am going to investigate the matalan balcony bras recommended on the other thread.

Happy50 · 20/01/2018 00:27

They are less structured than normal bras but for me better than crop tops. Certainly a better shape. I have two. One with very soft triangle shape cups [ like a bikini] and one with a wide band underneath. The wide band underneath gives more support . They are very beautiful. I measured every part of my breasts following an on line guide and they were made to measure at no extra cost. They are around £34 to £50. But if they are made to measure I imagine you couldn't change them if you weren't happy with them. I rang up the company for advice and they were very helpful.

rightknockered · 20/01/2018 10:54

I'm a 27G, which is not available unless I get custom made. So I have to buy a 28ff, still not found a bra that I totally love.
