What children's wear brands have the 'cool factor'?

Is there such thing as avant-garde children's clothes? What clothing brands do you think have the 'cool' factor? I want to get my children some stylish clothes for an event we've been invited to but I want to find something unusual and sort of sophisticated streetwear (does that exist for kids - I'm sure it must!) - Any ideas/tips/brand names/styling ideas?

You can find everything you need on Instagram.
Lots of wahms who will make clothes to order from organic cotton, no sweatshops involved.
You can also find some cool small brands like Turtledovelondon for the little one and Scamp and Dude.

I like Bobo Choses a lot. It’s just a bit different and the colours more muted.

Online shop wise I really rate The Mini Edit (the best customer service and packaging) and Scout and Co kids.

SLRGPW · 14/01/2018 08:48

Oh and high street wise, Cos and Arket. The quality of brilliant and the colours are usually a bit less same-y than other shops.

ButIamrightright · 14/01/2018 09:32

SLRGPW I love Bobo too particularly their colours but admitting sometimes find the quality disappointing for the price. Wil look at Arket.

scamp & dude

pancakebread · 14/01/2018 13:06

Don't know about cool, but clothes from Zara, H&M, some from next and m&s are good quality, and the 'coolness' I think comes into effect when mixed and matched.

catladyinthemaking · 14/01/2018 13:11

Childrensalon has a lot of choice and different brands so you’ll probably find something there.

midlifemeltdown · 14/01/2018 17:53

My DB used to buy dc things from
No Added Sugar - very funky but expensive

oobedobe · 15/01/2018 02:20

Not particularly 'avant garde' but J Crew and J Crew Factory have really nice kids clothes a bit different than UK high street but also stylish/cool.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 15/01/2018 15:13

There’s a brand called Molo which I think is pretty cool. I’ve only looked at boys stuff.

ASongOfRiceAndPeas · 16/01/2018 23:56

Cos.
Arket.
Both owned by H&M

ASongOfRiceAndPeas · 16/01/2018 23:56

And another vote for J.Crew.

I know about factories and will say it again... Don't assume cheap and big brands are bad when it comes to ethical standards. Unless you're supporting a small inde made item in known factory the supply chain is totally unclear in majority cases.
Some of the bigger firms are HUGE investors in ethical factories, labour supported initiatives and supply chain visibility from cotton bale to store.
Designer is usually just supporting a marketing position (see blogger chat thread)
It's totally up to you where you shop but I wouldn't want you to be spending more because of ethics if that wasn't what you were getting!

endehors · 17/01/2018 11:58

Molo, Smafolk that sort of thing. Smafolk has nice bright, often unisex, designs. We quite like Mim-Pi for some things, even Oilily which is still going. You could mix it up with high street clothes.
Bobo is quite nice, but I haven't liked the designs for the last couple of seasons, personally.

Shantotto · 17/01/2018 12:06

Check out Nununu - they are amazing! Very street! Leather gilets and ninja ponchos?! I love it but only buy on sale as v v expensive.

Mini Rodini, Bobo Choses, Animal Observatory are all cool. Someday Soon have non cheesey slogan stuff.

Oh Bang Bang Copenhagen and Popupshop.

Most of these brands are very ethical - organic, safe dyes, use a lot of recycled materials, fair labour practices etc.

This reminds me, Nununu are having a big sale!

bluechameleon · 17/01/2018 12:08

The "coolest" children I see on my various Facebook groups tend to be wearing Beau Loves, Bobo Choses, The Animal Observatory, Mini Rodini, Hugo Loves Tiki, Tiny Cottons, Nununu

MorrisZapp · 17/01/2018 12:10

Roughly how much do these clothes cost? Say, for a pair of jeans, or a cotton long sleeve t-shirt?

Shantotto · 17/01/2018 12:13

@morriszapp My DS doesn't wear jeans but the last Mini Rodini leggings I bought were £29. Amazing quality, buy a size up and they'll last ages on him and I can resell for half what I paid.

DUNS!

Lovely stuff, Swedish and ethical (and expensive but hey ho).

weebarra · 17/01/2018 12:16

I'm hugely into Scandi - so Maxomorra, Duns, Alba, Indikidual, Smafolk
I also like Bobo, Mini Rodini, Popupshop

Don't know if they're cool,but I'm quite often complimented on what they're wearing. I have 2 DSs and 1 DD, 10, 7 and 4.

Ooh I forgot Arrekid that stuff is really cool, patterns are amazing. And and Modeerska Huset!

Wingbing · 17/01/2018 12:20

pancake you made a very valid point, it's all about the way you mix and match them.

Not too try hard either, just thrown on.
