Can you recommend a lovely cleansing oil please

Have been using a Decleor oil which I love but the only one I can find online is a micellar oil ... maybe that’s what I was using but packaging different and I have thrown old one out. Tried the Emma Hardie balm which came in M&S Advent Calendar. Love the scent but it feels as though I’m dragging my skin when I apply it - have watched tutorial and do warm it in my hands etc. Any other recommendations please?

Clinique take the day off balm is excellent and lighter than the Emma Hardie one.

They also do an oil

The best thing I’ve ever used for cleansing is pure coconut oil

Theresnonamesleft · 29/12/2017 11:09

Body shop camomile oil is amazing as others have said.
I’ve also used the balm which is equally amazing.

I must be the only person who didn’t get on with the Clinique Take the Day Off balm. I found it lard like and left a residue even with a hot flannel to remove it. It also smelt of chemically fat - like something you’d cook with. If the OP wants something with a lovely smell to enhance the sensory experience then I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe if you have very dry skin it might be good?

Cakes That's because it's palm oil.

I stopped buying it when I realised that.

Cakescakescakes · 29/12/2017 14:02

fluffy thanks that makes total sense. It felt like a really cheap unpleasant product to use.

Watching with interest, lots of lovely suggestions on here.

Can I ask a question about how you use oils? Do you use them to remove makeup, or do you use a make up remover first? And do you follow them with a different cleanser, or just use the oil?? I'd love to try one but I've never been sure where to fit it in Blush

Cakescakescakes · 29/12/2017 14:05

I use eye make up remover first as I wear dark eyeliner etc every day. Then I cleanse with oil going over the eye area too. Then I use a second cleanser (gel or cream).

I use the Argan 5 one from Waitrose and like it.

Another rec here for the Una Brennan Vit C oil - it's lovely, cheap and effective. In fact I've been impressed with all of the UB range. The Vit C serum is fab too.

I was given some Neal's Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm for Christmas and that is absolutely gorgeous, but about 5x as expensive as the UB.

I’m current using the chamomile Body Shop oil. I use it first to remove my make up which it completely dissolved and then use a Clinique face wash after. The double cleanse is great for my congested skin!
I have also used one from Shu Umera years ago (I think they were the first to bring them out) it was very luxurious.

Cakescakescakes · 29/12/2017 16:13

explodingkittens I love the Superfacialist Vit c serum too! It’s so hydrating.

I love the origins clean energy oil, or sanctuary ultimate cleansing oil as a much cheaper alternative. The origins one is expensive but lasts for ages and is really great for dry skin.

I use Fushi, either jojoba or camellia to hot cloth cleanse with a muslin. No other balms or anything. Other stuff either dries me out or brings me out in zits.

I wear wp mascara and sometimes it can struggle but most of the time it’s ok. Sometimes it needs an extra wipe over with a bi-phase eye mu remover like the clarins one. The other downside is the glass bottles. Lovely packaging and good for the oil as they are dark and non-reactive, so the oil doesn’t go rancid but glass isn’t very practical for travel no can be a bit dangerous/risky in a bathroom.

Theresnonamesleft · 29/12/2017 17:18

When I first started with the oil, I would double cleanse.
A year later my skin has dramatically improved, I no longer double cleanse and just use the oil a couple of times a week. Rest of the time I use a tea-tree wash, which I also used when I doubled cleansed.

I love Heimish all clean balm (Korean). It used to be made from donkey milk (argh) but is now all vegan! It is just amazing at getting rid of makeup and does not feel like its 'stripping' at all. You can get it on this site here which is the cheapest i've seen it (£13), comparing to dermalogica which is £37 of kiehl’s which is £32 - its great value.
