Babyliss big hair is AMAZING, why has no one on MN mentioned this before?!

Halo

Seriously though, I love it. I look like I’ve had a salon blow dry, achieved at home on a Wednesday morning with 2 small children under my feet.

Can anyone link to a GOOD YouTube tutorial they’ve seen? I got one a year ago but have never mastered it and gave up after a couple of tries. I have long thick hair though so that may Be the issue

StoneColdDiva · 28/12/2017 10:14

When you say use like a normal hair brush, you mean sort of stroke down the outer hair?

I use mine like a curling tong, under the ends of my bob length hair.

Not sure how to use it as a brush....

aliciagardner · 28/12/2017 10:15

This one is good and also this one

Longhairmightcare · 28/12/2017 10:44

Ah gutted I did a little demo video, hiding my face and everything and you can’t load video doh.

stonecold yes just stroke down, but sort of firmly so the hair is pulled taut round the brush, then follow through so your hair is released and brush pulls out of ends. I do in sections so Dried through, I’ve got very thick hair so was always going to have to section.

DISCLAIMER: This is just how I do it, not necessarily the recommended way. It’s probably worth mentioning I’ve only used it twice so there’s probably —very likely—better methods

It’s lovely, it makes your hair bouncy. But I only use it on rare occasion I can be bothered with all the hair sectioning etc. It takes me approx half an hour to use.

BadTasteFlump · 28/12/2017 10:56

I bought one recently and I hate it - maybe it's because my hair is already thick? Anyway, I tried it about three times and gave up.

Seriously - if anybody wants it I'm happy to do a swap for pretty much anything else anybody may have been given for Christmas and don't want...

Middleoftheroad · 28/12/2017 11:33

Thanks. I found this video for those of us with bobbed fine hair.

SunshineTheMonkey · 28/12/2017 11:46

It's the best thing I've ever bought from a hair and beauty standpoint

People who say it's shit don't know how to use it.

My hair shines and looks fab with it.

EnidButton · 28/12/2017 12:59

Thanks Longhair I'll try that. I'm guessing my your user name that you have long hair? And you said it's thick too so I might actually be able to use it. I thought it was my hair being the 'wrong' type.

CremeFresh · 28/12/2017 13:49

Woo hoo ! Mines just arrived

CremeFresh · 28/12/2017 14:31

I've just used it and it's a bit meh. I have normal thickness hair and the brush was OK spinning when at the ends but struggled a bit nearer the roots. I had to do quite fine sections otherwise , again, the brush wouldn't spin . I can see the motor burning out if it's used on thicker sections of hair. My hair feels smooth but I can get more volume using a normal brush tbh.

Maudlinmaud · 28/12/2017 14:34

Creme use it on damp hair not wet. Use product, heat protection spray and either something for volume or sleekness. Separate into sections and pull the brush through whilst spinning. I think the secret is all in the pull.

Hauntedlobster · 28/12/2017 14:42

Defo do it in sections and pull back over roots

CremeFresh · 28/12/2017 14:49

Ok off to give it another go, I think I kept my finger on the spin button instead of letting it go once the hair is wrapped round the brush.

crazycatgal · 28/12/2017 15:24

Just used mine for the first time and got to grips with it on the lengths and ends but my hair is still flat at the root. Does anyone have any tips for the root area?

CremeFresh · 28/12/2017 15:31

My roots are still flat too. I think a smaller barrel might have been better.

MadisonAvenue · 28/12/2017 18:48

I bought one around 18 months ago and I've only used it a few times, and then just to finish off when my hair was mostly dry. It was okay but my hair always looked a bit frumpy, I think it may work better now my hair's a bit longer perhaps.

endthefarts · 28/12/2017 19:07

I have one and it's by far the best thing I've ever used to make a difference to how I look. I love it. I hear it's no good for thick hair though.

falange · 29/12/2017 10:43

Crazycatgal. For root lift use it as if you were blow drying with a brush. Position the brush so the hair at the root is upright. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. Have a look on YouTube. Might be far better explanations on there.

collywobble · 29/12/2017 14:43

Pandorawith thank you for your reply . Do you actually let the micro rings go through the styler ifyswim? I don't think I could avoid it touching them for the root lift I need . I really really want to try it but I don't want to it to get tangled .

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 30/12/2017 08:21

collywobble, my hair extensions are attached further down the hair shaft, so I can still use the BBH for root lift, but I hold a section of hair so that it could not become tangled in the extensions: can't bear the thought of that!

crazycatgal · 03/01/2018 14:04

So today I have mastered the use of the Babyliss Big Hair and my hair is super swishy and voluminous and I'm feeling like a hair goddess!

If anyone hasn't yet mastered the volume at the roots then I'd recommend watching the Tanya Burr video which was posted on this thread.

mammmamia · 03/01/2018 20:33

I'm actually getting better results with a straightening brush - I never got the hang of the BBH and sold it recently.

Littlelondoner · 03/01/2018 20:43

I have rescently stopped using mine. So much less flyaway hair. I realised this was regrowth from hair being literally ripped out. I love the look of it. But i lost / snapped/ pulled out so much hair!!

Oly5 · 03/01/2018 22:21

I love mine too.
I also want to get babyliss curl secret... has anyone got experience of that?
