So I always cleanse or double cleanse at night but when I'm showering in the morning I love a good splash and wash my face.

I've been using Clinique face wash but wondering what other good options there is for dehydrated 40 year old skin?!

Just water with a warm flannel. Soap would dry my skin out. Then I moisturise, and at night use a moisturising serum/oil when I remember. Everyone says I have good skin Smile

Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Hydrating Creamy Cleanser (how long is that name?!) in the morning at the moment as it's nice & hydrating for winter - in the summer I use Sanoflore Magnifica gel one which is minty and wakes me up.

Evening is first cleanse with Sanoflore Aciana Botanica gel-oil one which is gorgeous, and second with Avene gentle cleansing milk (I would use the Sanoflore one for both but the Avene is my attempt at saving money!).

I use no. 7 cleansing oil, my skin is really dry and has always looked okay but felt quite rough. This stuff has completely changed my skin. Not expensive, gets all your make up off, good for sensitive skin and really hydrating. I do also moisturise afterwards with the Nip and Fab serum which is also great for dry skin. I found creme moisturisers would just sit on top of my dry skin.

HotelEuphoria · 21/12/2017 09:55

Soap and water for me too and then a nice thick old fashioned (and cheap) moisturiser from years gone by such as Astral or Nivea crème.

Never had spots, bad skin, blackheads etc and don't look too bad for my age.

Nosleepforthewicked · 21/12/2017 09:55

I've always used Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser and loved it! However. I saw that Waitrose had started doing a hot cloth cleanser for £5!!!!! Tried it and love it more than Liz Earle. I also use their day, night and eye cream now. Felt like I'd discovered a real bargain!

Terrible skin when younger, not so bad now. If I wear makeup, I remove with Simple wipes. Wash with aqueous cream (SLS free), costs pennies from any chemist and most supermarkets.

Bluesheep8 · 21/12/2017 10:49

Liz Earle means and polish for me, followed by the toner-used it for years and nothing else will do for me.

SexualTyrannosaurus · 21/12/2017 11:24

Morning I wipe Boots cucumber micellar water over my face, no need to rinse

Evening, I do a hot cloth cleanser routine with Ponds cold cream, I double cleanse if been wearing make-up

chocolateiamydrug · 21/12/2017 11:31

oil (castor/olive/hazelnut mix). massage it in and take it off with a hot cloth. transformed my skin.

I have rubbish, sensitive, flaky, greasy skin. It’s a bit of everything and I’ve tried everything out there. La Roche Posay, dermalogica, Elemis, Liz Earle...

Finally found something that doesn’t make my skin feel tight but also feels like it’s had a wash, without the yucky feel of a film left on the skin.

I use (and now 14 year old DS does with acne) cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. As a wash off face wash (it does say you can just tissue it off I think but I wouldn’t). I use simple make up remover first then wash with the cetaphil, using a muslin cloth to scrub it a bit before rinsing the last bit off.

There are hardly any ingredients, I find so many beauty products overloaded with this and that so jt’s Hard to find out what the issue is if you’re sensitive to something.

People have a fit about the ingredients, it has SLS, alcohol, paraben tyoe stuff in but you know what, all the other stuff I’ve tried that DON’T have those things in bloody irritate my skin or at the very least do the same job as the cetaphil for 3 or 4 times the price.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/12/2017 11:41

I think the responses to this question illustrate nicely that everyone’s skin is different and that what suits one doesn’t suit another.

(I used to love cleanse and polish but I think they changed an ingredient and now I find it a bit stingy so had to give it up)

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2017 12:03

A cleansing oil from Simple which is just grape seed oil & vitamin E to prevent it going rancid.

When it eventually runs out I'll buy organic grapseed with Vit e online as it's cheaper.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/12/2017 12:16

Dermologica Special Cleansing Gel, bought in the salon size with a pump, every morning in the shower. DS also uses it.

CountFosco · 21/12/2017 13:16

I have sensitive skin. A dermatologist told me to use Dermol 500. It is very gentle and moisturising. I use it with water in the shower.

DS has eczema and this stuff is fab on his skin.

I just use water or soap and water then E45 to moisturise. Don't wear makeup so don't need any harsh cleansers.

RoseWhiteTips · 21/12/2017 13:38

A face flannel and cool water. My skin is brilliant.

LemonShark · 21/12/2017 14:07

Boots no 7 hot cloth cleanser. Being hot cloth cleansing for a decade and my skin looks amazing. I'm 30 in a few months and my 20 year old hairdresser thought I was only a year or so older than her last week 😂 I am not narcissistic enough to believe there's no chance she was just trying to flatter me for a tip to be fair, but she seemed genuine enough and I get asked for ID all the time.

Also drink a lot of water and don't tan. And genes probably. But the HCC really helps, i see a drastic difference in the quality and smoothness and clearness of my skin when using it versus Times when I've slummed it with a simple facial foaming wash which made my skin super tight and red and blotchy.

Unicorn81 · 21/12/2017 20:19

Temple spa cleanser in the morning (oily skin) and no 7 hot cloth at night

Soyalatteforme · 21/12/2017 20:23

Morning- cold water and flannel

Night - coconut oil washed off with warm flannel

TacoFlavouredKisses · 21/12/2017 20:29

In the morning just Simple anti-aging cleanser in the shower, at night Lush's Ultrabland and a warm flannel or DHC cleansing oil followed by Simple anti-aging cleanser.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/12/2017 20:41

I've gone towards a Korean style cleaning regime: A rice oil cleanser, Sanctuary Hot Cloth Cleanser, swipe with toner, moisturiser.

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 21/12/2017 20:48

Sanex shower gel. I'm allergic to so much.

xyzandabc · 21/12/2017 20:52

Just water and every few days water with an exfoliating mitt.

I can't remember ever using a product for face cleaning bar the odd cleansing wipes once it twice a year when I wear make up.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 21/12/2017 20:59

Dove soap in the morning and Clinique foaming face wash at night, followed by a wipe over with Avène micellar water to remove all make up. Or just soap again if I haven't been wearing any make up.

Thebluedog · 21/12/2017 21:02

Estée Lauder foaming face wash, I’ve tried all sorts and always come back to this
