So I always cleanse or double cleanse at night but when I'm showering in the morning I love a good splash and wash my face.

I've been using Clinique face wash but wondering what other good options there is for dehydrated 40 year old skin?!

OP posts:

At the moment using Paula's Choice Anti Aging Foaming Cleanser but usually & will go back to Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed.
Occasionally use Liz Earle C&P too.

I'm 40 and use Lush ultrabland. I used to have dry, flaky skin, but also spots around my jawline. I've been using this for about a year and my skin is so much better.

TrashPanda · 20/12/2017 22:27

Boots tea tree and witch hazel foaming facewash

StinkyMcgrinky · 20/12/2017 22:30

Baby wipes to remove make up and nivea moisturiser. Skin is generally clear, soft and blemish free.

mrsfollowill · 20/12/2017 22:36

Simple facial moisturising face wash in the mornings all the family do. Gets rid of the asleep feeling.

TheCraicDealer · 20/12/2017 22:38

I use Lush's Fresh Farmacy- it looks like a soap but it's not, there's no "soap" base as it's been replaced with essential oils. Nice and calming and doesn't dry out the skin, but you still feel nice and clean after. I alternate with a more traditional tea tree oil soap when I've been wearing a full face of makeup and the the combo seems to keep things under control.

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip in the mornings, at night I switch between REN cream cleanser, a Botanics balm, and Clinique Take the Day Off oil. Always with a clean facecloth.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/12/2017 22:48

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery oil cleanser. It’s really nice and not drying.

Foobarjar · 20/12/2017 22:49

Roche possay for acne prone skin. It's brilliant if you're oily!

RidingMyBike · 20/12/2017 22:50

Lush Ultrabland - been using it for last six months (I'm 38) and my skin has been so much better.

BunsforTea · 20/12/2017 22:56

Lush Ultrabland if face feeling tight and dry or Lush Angels on Bare Skin for a good deep cleanse or in the shower.

Dexywexy · 21/12/2017 00:20

I have sensitive skin. A dermatologist told me to use Dermol 500. It is very gentle and moisturising. I use it with water in the shower.

Kahlua4me · 21/12/2017 00:24

I use soap and cold running water. Always have and then baby lotion for moisturiser. I am nearly 50 now and the only change I have noticed recently is I need to put on 2 lots of lotion in the morning.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 21/12/2017 00:27

Boots 3 in 1 wipes no 7 at bedtime. Warm water and a face cloth in the morning. I have good skin for a 57 year old. I may have had six spots in my life. Apologies.

Flamingoingmad · 21/12/2017 00:32

Elemis gentle foaming face wash. Skin feels really clean & soft, it smells nice too.

Cariadd · 21/12/2017 00:37

Baby wipes then coconut oil.

Oblomov17 · 21/12/2017 07:46

It's only just dawned on me, based on the first few posters, that I too use nothing, only water in the shower. Is that odd? I'm sure I used to use some liquid soap or something.

riledandharrassed · 21/12/2017 07:50

OP - you say your skin is dry - double cleansing may be too much for you

LunaTheCat · 21/12/2017 08:09

I have just used Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm for the first time- recommended by Mumsnet - and am in love. My skin feels lovely and soft.

Maccapacca88 · 21/12/2017 08:12

No7 Beautiful Skin hot cloth cleanser. Love it! I have extremely dry skin and this is the best I have tried.

HRTpatch · 21/12/2017 08:15

Dermalogica ultra calming cleanser. I buy the huge salon size with pump dispenser ...more economical

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/12/2017 08:19

Bioderma micellar water to remove make up. And plain cold water in the morning.

HereBeFuckery · 21/12/2017 09:11

Clinique take the day off balm, or something similar (Emma Hardie if flush).
My skin is sensitive, rosacea prone and can be spotty, but cutting out foaming (SLS based) face wash has improved it tenfold.

HateSummer · 21/12/2017 09:20

Mostly just water but once a week I use garnier 3 in 1 face wash. I usually use it as a mask and then exfoliate. Then I use Nivea q10 face cream. Every new person I meet at work assumes I’m in my early/mid 20’s...I’m almost 35 :)

laudanum · 21/12/2017 09:27

I combine granulated sugar and olive oil.
