Brazilian blow dry advice

Hello, I am absolutely fed up of my frizzy, wild, ever expanding hair. I've tried curly girl etc, but the problem is that chunks of my hair are curly and others straight, it's an absolute nuisance! I also have loads of hair, so blow drying takes a lifetime.
I'm considering a Brazilian as I at my wits end, it's about £100 though and I'm wondering if it's worth the money, does anyone have any experience?
Thanks in advance!

You,need salt free shampoo and conditioner - it’s not just about the sulphates!

Tobuyornot99 · 19/12/2017 07:38

Oh flipping heck, I've just added 4 bottles each of the shampoo / conditioner to my online Asda shop in readiness for the BBD. Will I take them back out again? Confused

Take them out, Tobuy - they have salt (chloride) in and is a no no for BBD. I'll see if I can post a couple of links to alternatives.

Tobuy - the Keratins Kits salt and sulphate free shampoos and conditions on Amazon are great. They come with a dispensing pump so you don't have excessive surplus on application and so will last a while.

A word of advice - because they are sulphate free, they won't foam much. Some customers mistakenly think that they therefore need to use more product or that something is wrong because the shampoo isn't foaming.

Another one here that is salt and sulphate free - unlike the one above, it's available in supermarkets etc and not just online. I haven't used it myself so can't vouch for it, but it's a good enough brand -

I've had about four. Three at Toni and guy-two were great the last was dissapointing. Had one at another salon a lot cheaper as a promotion- didn't work and my hair stank for ages after. I'm going to try the DIY kit this time

quackingduck222 · 19/12/2017 14:08

So sorry about that to the OP. It seems the formula has changed rather than just the bottles.
It longer states on the bottle you can use them with the BBD.

I’ve just stocked up too. Gutted

Thunderpunt · 19/12/2017 15:58

@Aridane thanks for the links to products

HappenstanceMarmite · 19/12/2017 18:22

Aridane thank you for links to shampoos. Can you also recommend which Keratin BBD to use please? Thanks.

Aridane · 19/12/2017 20:51

Ah, Happen - there you have me, I don’t know. Have always just gone to the salon and not actually shown any interest in the type / products for the BBD. Will check on the website of the last two salons I’ve been to to see if they reference the type of BBD they did on me

Any other recommendations for the home
Kits? I'm going in!

I used a home kit from amazon and was so happy with the results, probably used it about 3 times in total every 6 months, BUT it does damage your hair...mine became so dry and brittle that I decided it wasn't worth it so threw the kit away and my hair has taken a couple of years of growing out to get back to how it was. Such a shame but I'd rather have the frizz than dry as straw hair :(
