Nice "going out" shoes that aren't ridiculously high

LoniceraJaponica · 27/11/2017 19:18

I am struggling to find some posh shoes for a Christmas do/evening wedding do that I can actually walk in. Most smart shoes are just too high for me.

I am a 5.5/6 depending on the shoe, and have narrow heels but broad toe joints, which makes it difficult to wear court shoes without them feeling like flip flops.

I therefore require shoes that are either Mary Jane in style (of which I am not fond) or with an ankle strap so that they stay on my feet.

Any ideas please?

Oh, and online isn't an option because I usually end up trying on 10+ pairs of shoes before I find any that are comfortable.

Does anyone really have feet that shape???

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/11/2017 19:59

They've been worn to death as you can tell but would this sort of style work?

I have narrow heels, so know exactly what you are going through. Daily I wear ankle boots and I have bought these last year which are awesome

You can also look at these styles (but maybe cheaper)

I've just bought Rogue Matilda shoes and can confirm they have a wide enough toe box but stay on thanks to the ankle strap. Really lovely soft leather so I'm now eyeing up some of the lace ups for work.

LoniceraJaponica · 27/11/2017 21:47

Sorry Fekko just looking at those shoes make my eyes water.

The net-a-porter shoes are too high for me, and I'm not keen on the other shoes.

Sorry CountFosco, but those silver slippers with fur trim are truly hideous, and £99 Shock

Thank you for looking for me. I have been looking online, and what retailers class as mid heel I class as high. I think I will just have to wear my 22 year old going out shoes.

I have ones like that but with rounded toes so they look like highland dancing shoes, not instruments of torture!

CountFosco · 28/11/2017 19:20

Lonicera if you want help then maybe not be quite so rude about shoes that people suggest, I didn't ask for your opinion and if you don't like the shoes that I've bought for myself then it would be politer to ignore my comment.

If you want cheap shoes maybe you should suggest a budget rather than criticising those of us who can afford to spend money on going out shoes more than once every 22 years. Is Clarks more your budget? Or
M&S? Or Primark?

IslingtonLou · 28/11/2017 20:21

I think comfort is more with the brand and style of the shoe so it’s hard to just suggest a pair. There are SO many styles that are in right now like mules, sandals, boots, lace ups, platforms etc for nights out. Have you got a photo of your outfit?

Lucked · 28/11/2017 20:22

What colour?
Have you considered an ankle boots or kitten heels?

IslingtonLou · 28/11/2017 20:24

Judging from your OP I would go for lace up heels in a wide fit or size up - you can adjust them around the ankles to make them fit perfectly there, but it still gives you breathing room at your toes.

octonaught · 28/11/2017 20:26

I have these shoes. (In the red)
I NEVER wear heels but these a are genuinely comfy and definitely stay on.

Paintbox · 28/11/2017 20:34

Countfosco I like those shoes you’ve bought

A1Sharon · 28/11/2017 20:34

Boden

LoniceraJaponica · 28/11/2017 20:35

Those shoes are nice octonaught, but I suspect they may be too high for me.That is the sort of thing I am looking for, but with a lower heel.

Sorry I was so rude CountFosco, but those shoes wouldn't go with anything in my wardrobe. I will be wearing a black dress and want black shoes. My budget is more Clarks/M and S, especially for shoes I would only wear about once a year.

woth heels but always fine theirs wearable and they usually have a good selection

A1Sharon · 28/11/2017 20:36

Here? Maybe order a size up to accommodate your toes?

Christmastree43 · 28/11/2017 20:36

New look have loads of mid heel party shoes

LoniceraJaponica · 28/11/2017 20:37

I have some nice mid heel ankle boots Lucked, but they wouldn't go with my dress. I will be wearing them with trousers though.

I have just bought some very cheap wide fit flat silver sandals from Amazon.
I cannot walk in anything standard fit or heeled so they will just have to do.
Better than hobbling or falling over IMO.
I have a silver evening bag (somewhere).

LoniceraJaponica · 28/11/2017 20:41

Christmastree I had a look in New Look yesterday, and the only mid heel shoes I liked were wide fit only Sad. The rest were too high for me.

Thank you for all your suggestions everyone. It appears have a very frumpy conservative taste in footwear Grin

The La Redoute site has some lovely shoes. Do they only sell online?

I like those Clarks ones keepon. Unfortunately I didn't see them in the shop when I was in there the other day. Sandals are out though. Winter in Sheffield is not sandal and no tights weather Smile
