Dog walking boots for massive calfs

Can anyone recommend some good dog walking boots, suitable for properly muddy walks, not overly fussed how high they come up, but they need to be able to get over my huge calfs Blush they really are whopping and my wellies have never fitted because of it.

I'm considering the Derwent muck boots, but have no idea if theyll go round me massive bloody legs. Anyone have them already and can recommend? Are there any others that I should be looking at? Dont really want to spend more than 100 quid as they are literally for squelching through mud and s*it.

Thanks all in advance

Columbia heavenly omni heat boots. Great traction, warm and waterproof. Very lightweight, not too clunky visually and they are comfortable with a memory foam insole built in.

They double up as snow boots too and will fit a range of calf sizes as they are lace up. I love mine and picked them up for a song on Amazon but do go up a size.

insulated

The insulated ones above the foot are neoprene so soft & flexible. I wear under jeans rather than tuck them in. (Have also had trouble with fit of cheap wellies.)

It took me far too long to work out that you meant boots for you to wear and not the dog that was herding the calves Blush
Sorry, I can’t help though.

MissesBloom · 15/11/2017 13:11

Hahaha thanks those both look amazing!

Battered that is hilarious I have images of my dog running round herding cattle with wellies on Grin

In truth I couldn't work out if it was calfs or calves and went with the former!

Similar images here! I got side tracked wondering how the size of the baby cows affected the type of boots required for the dog. I swear, I shouldn’t be allowed access to the internet sometimes. Blush

I literally spat my coffee out Grin

Special cow boots designed by age...think you'd better head off to dragons den with that one!!!

The website has a sale section and it turns out a couple of outdoors stores stock them in the UK so see if they have Black Friday deals ?

chalkyc2 · 15/11/2017 22:13

Ok so they are super expensive but I LOVE my dubarry roscommons. They are shorter than the mid calf hunter boots and are short enough to not ever interfere with wide calfs. I have them in brown.

MissesBloom · 16/11/2017 13:49

Chalky you are so lucky those really are gorgeous! My budget wouldn't stretch that far, I fear my husband might end the marriage if i treated myself to them but I can see the appeal. They're proper boots!

I have Dublin River Boots in a wide fitting. They are super roomy.

Juststopit · 16/11/2017 13:54

Ariat grasmeres, fabulous and warm and go really wide. Expensive but worth it.

Unicorn81 · 16/11/2017 19:40

Those bog boots are nice. I have cheap snow joggers that i wear, nice and warm. [[https://www.mandmdirect.com/01/details/XG2710/UGG-Womens-Sivada-Liberty-Wellingtons-Black M and m direct have short Ugg wellies]]

LuluJakey1 · 16/11/2017 19:53

I second Dubln River Boots. I wear mine with thick socks and leggings and walk on the beach,at the sea edge, down country tracks. Waterproof, comfortable and they clean up amazingly. And they do extra wide ones.

Iamabuyingbootsaddict · 16/11/2017 22:50

Bought some lovely equestrian boots that go over my somewhat chunky calves .... Was so excited to get them out of the box, the smell of the leather and the quality was just what I was hoping for ... And then I noticed they'd sent me one size 4 and one Size 5... Was gutted. Now waiting for replacements but spent all week looking forward to getting them on and being out in them giving it large in the country. Bet someone else is somewhere sending their odd pair back !!

TheFaerieQueene · 16/11/2017 23:01

Battered I thought the same. I’m glad I’m not the only one Grin

Orlandointhewilderness · 16/11/2017 23:04

ariat grasmeres are fantastic. i work with horses and am in them for about 8 hours a day and they are the best boots i've had. on the welly front, i don't wear anything but le chameau vierzonord ones.

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 17/11/2017 04:25

Aigle neoprene lined wellies. I wear them daily and they’re as good as new. Another customer in the shop told me she’d had hers for ten years. Hideous price but I was getting through a pair of Joules every six months.

foofooyeah · 17/11/2017 04:48

I had some muck boots. Went over my chunky calves but I found they dug in at the back of the heel where the boot turned to neoprene .... if that makes sense.
Currently using cheap shortie wellies from the garden centre which I love and find v comfortable.

foofooyeah · 17/11/2017 04:53

Though those dubarry Roscommon look lovely

MissesBloom · 17/11/2017 12:16

Loving all these suggestions!

I'm more confused now as they all seem as good as eachother. I guess I'll just get a pair for xmas then another for my birthday Grin

Iamabuyingbootsaddict that is gutting. It's the worst thing about online shopping...so.disappointing when you buy something only to find it's not right.

I have a huge bottom so finding trousers and buying them online never works out...they always and up straight back to the shop

Basically most of my shopping issues are related to oversized parts of my bodyBlush
