What's your favourite day moisturiser

And why? What is your skin type?
Day cream is something I’m really struggling with and cannot find one I love. I want something really hydrating and creamy that just melts into skin leaving behind No residue. Not perfumed either as I have very reactive skin! Skin is combination but I suffer badly with dehydration. Fed up!

I'm using Lanocreme collagen formula, day cream. It's unperfumed and really nice, I get it from TKMaxx usually for less than the price on the link.

Dermalogica active moist, or skin smoothing cream if you need something richer. Both brilliant and melt into the skin wonderfully. Cost a bazillion pounds, but a little goes an awfully long way, and you get quite a lot of it for your money.

CallarMorvern · 06/11/2017 13:33

Sorry missed the other part of the question! My skin is sensitive and fairly dry, I'm 48 and have aged quite a bit with losing a lot of weight. My skin does seem smoother with using this cream, it's not sticky, sinks in easily and doesn't irritate.

mintmagnummm · 06/11/2017 14:13

It doesn’t have to not have a smell but not have “parfum” or “ fragrance” in the ingredients because then it’s artificial and in my opinion unnecessary and one of the biggest skin irritants!

I try and treat myself to expensive creams but I always end up coming back to Cetaphil.

You can buy off the shelf in Boots now I think.

It was recommended to me by a plastic surgeon at a dinner party once. Without a doubt the best daily moisturiser I’ve ever used.

slowco4ch · 06/11/2017 14:26

I use Korres Rose day cream, lovely texture, soothes the sensitive skin, hydrated the dry skin and doesn’t sit on the oily bits! My skin is very prone to sensitivity, breakouts and hates a lot of creams but I keep going back to this one. Full price £20 but often on offer.

Yazoop · 06/11/2017 14:29

I've got similarly dehydrated and sensitive skin and I like Clinique Moisture Surge for when I'm really dehydrated (or I use the Moisture Surge overnight mask for a few nights, which is really good in winter when you've got "central heating skin") and Avene Hydrance Optimale moisturiser for everyday use (I tend to put it on after either the Avene hydrating day serum or Vichy aqua hydrating serum). Avene is a mid-budget pharmacy brand so not too spendy.

craigglen · 06/11/2017 14:29

Elemis pro collagen marine cream. I used it a while ago and liked it. Recently my skin was a disaster and on impulse I treated myself. Within 5 days my skin looked better and someone commented on how nice my skin looked. I was amazed.

I also like Aldi Caviar creams. Bargain.

craigglen · 06/11/2017 14:30

Sorry, should have mentioned that I have combination skin that can be a bit congested.

EugenieG · 06/11/2017 14:30

Have you tried Caudalie? Their scent is very faint, and it's my go to when my skin is very dry and uncomfortable (most winters in the UK). The one I use is Vinosource Riche

Yazoop · 06/11/2017 14:35

I should have mentioned that the Avene Hydrance moisturiser has "legere/light" (for normal to combination skin) and "riche" options (for dry skin). I tend to use the legere in summer and riche in winter, but if you have oily patches throughout the year, I'd go for legere. Boots often have 3 for 2 promos, good for getting a free moisturiser if you try the (also very good) hydrating serum.

Bombardier25966 · 06/11/2017 14:43

Elemis marine cream Get on qvc has changed my skin and it’s british

Elemis is owned by a US equity firm. Few "British" brands are still UK owned.

OP look at La Roche Posay and Avene. Almost all of their products match your criteria. I use LRP Toleriane.

Pistachiois50pmore · 06/11/2017 15:12

My partner has sensitive skin and can't use fragranced products and the only one he likes is Kiehl's Ultra Facial cream. I like it too. It's a really good all rounder.

Blackandpurple · 06/11/2017 15:44

Nivea Q10 night cream. Find it better for my dry skin.

But in the winter i use Clinique moisture surge.

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 06/11/2017 18:39

Bulldog. Sensitive version.

mintmagnummm · 06/11/2017 20:36

Yazoop my skin didn’t like avene and the product u mentioned is perfumed. (I like their spf 50 tho)

mintmagnummm · 06/11/2017 20:37

Pistachio I actually haven’t tried that one so will definitely consider that thank you and I know kiehls is fragrance free.

Thanks everyone

Also recommend Kiehl’s Utra Facial cream (pot). Sounds perfect for you, I have used it for years and it’s a godsend for my winter dry/dehydrated skin, isn’t greasy and works well with my makeup

weetabix07 · 06/11/2017 21:15

Lemon do you use the cetaphil cream or lotion? Thanks!

BagelGoesWalking · 06/11/2017 21:22

What about the Pyunkang Nutrition Cream?

Crumbs1 · 06/11/2017 21:26

L’Occitane Divine light cream is good. Not too greasy or heavy. Leaves my ancient skin feeling good.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 06/11/2017 21:27

What about Simple? No fragrance.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2017 21:42

I've re-purchased Bodyhop Vit E cream (the standard one), I usually drift back to it after dithering with other creams. My skin feels replenished. My skin is pretty unreactive, I'm 51.

My DD has dry sensitive cream, she had extremely painful red patches that were worse with make-up. Out of despairation I bought her Aveeno , it improved her skin 100% in a day.

suchatiredbunny · 06/11/2017 21:49

I would suggest Olay Total Effects in the fragrance free option, or Green People No Scent, or Liz Earle superskin fragrance free, but I think I’ve suggested them before! Oilatum Skin Repair is heavy but fab, my DD likes it as she gets sandpaper-like patches on her face and this helps but doesn’t make her spots worse.
I know you’ve tried Simple (if memory serves) but what about Boots own version? Or their cheap as chips in the blue packaging fragrance free lotion or cream?
Lush will give you samples, Celestial is very mild.
Unfragranced baby lotion? Maybe M&S pure range? What about looking on an aromatherapy website and buying a base cream?
Can’t think of anything more just now, but I know you’ve tried loads already......will keep pondering.

GoingRogue · 06/11/2017 21:55

I'm loving BodyShop's Vitamin E Emulsion atm. There is a light fragrance to it but not overpowering. Spf30, super lightweight and a great base for my Estee Lauder foundation. Bargain at £15 for 30ml too (and I like the pump bottle as feel it's more hygienic).

If money was no object though, I'd go back to my beloved EL Daywear oil-free creme (£44.50 A pot Sad)
