I work in a school, we have Windows permanently open, in and out of the school to do outdoor learning every 5 minutes etc.
I need to keep bloody warm, I'm home now and in bed trying to warm up!
Please tell me what warm dresses/boots etc you wear so I can also buy them Grin
I'm hopeless at shopping, do everything online.
Nothing low cut on top and arms covered.
Size 14, budget is whatever it costs to keep me bloody warm Grin

Jumper dresses with thermal tops underneath I bought a black and grey one from primark - jazz up wth scarves jewellery etc - easy stylish and warm!

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 01/11/2017 22:08

Primark have a load of fleece lined tights in at the moment. I got some last week- seem pretty tough.

I have been investing heavily in cashmere jumpers/cardis and i also have a pair of cashmere socks which are great.

RedastheRose · 01/11/2017 22:11

I have several longish dresses I wear over warm tights and long sleeved tops and socks under ankle books as well you could add a scarf too.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 01/11/2017 22:36

John Lewis do fleece-lined tights, they last years and are v warm.

Woolly, as I said upthread, the kids are fine. The windows are kept open in the classroom to avoid it getting stuffy, 32 little bodies in one room - it needs ventilating! Also, being a school, the windows open about 3 inches max Grin
And then I'm the one who suffers in the afternoons - the children come out to do outside learning but they come out in groups for 10/15 minutes at a time - I'm the one who's out there for the entire time, they only pop out for a short time.
Also, when I'm not outside, in the afternoons I run sessions for something else where I am based by the back doors - these are normally left open as other classes are out for PE or other stuff, and the door doesn't open from the outside so it needs to be open! It's me who gets bloody freezing!
Right, well I'm layered up today, have a vest, dress, thin cardigan and scarf, 2 pairs of tights and long boots. Wish me luck!
Thanks for all the advice, I have ordered a couple of thermal base layer tops, some woolly tights and some fleece lined leggings. I would cave and buy some uggs (and I hate them, but I'm so cold!) but i don't think they would be deemed 'professional' enough Sad

thermaltop

These Thermal tops from M&S are absolutely brilliant. I have 3. 1 glittery one and they go under all dresses or tops. brilliant, quite thin, keep you so warm.

I also bought this cardigan from H&M . It was £39.99 instore, Which seems like an awful lot but I tell you it is in so incredibly soft , lovely to wear, really comfy, nice length. is the best thing I’ve bought in years. I leave it in work and have worn it every day since!!

H&M

Primark fleece lined tights. They're cheap, warmer than leggings and nothing snags them. I've fallen on tarmac in them and fucked my knees, but not the tights.

Thermal base layers.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 02/11/2017 10:55

Ugg do proper boots too, I’ve got some snuggly biker type ones.

sortingmyselfoutslowly · 02/11/2017 11:56

I'm always freezing. I never throw old leggings away when they eventually fade or get a hole in- I wear them under slim trousers, smarter leggings or tights! My school us Victorian and draughty. 2 pairs of socks, leather Ugg boots, vest and long sleeve thermal top under my skater dress or whatever I'm wearing, thin knithe layers and big cosy cardigans help. I don't end up with more washing as I wash the bottom layers daily but upper layers less often!

sortingmyselfoutslowly · 02/11/2017 11:58

Primark fleece lined tights sound awesome!

CakeNinja · 02/11/2017 12:10

I've got a couple of pairs of warm timberland boots, leather ones not the classic style, which are smart and warm enough. Not keen on biker boots which is a shame as I've seen some that look properly warm!
I'm a bit warmer today though, so layers have worked - my mum always told me to wear a vest as a child - this is clearly why!

Washable cashmere. So toasty. With a thermal vest underneath. Pure collection and M&S have decent cashmere

Steaksauce · 02/11/2017 12:23

Invest in some merino wool thermals. Best thing I’ve ever bought. They kept me toasty warm when we hiked a glacier.

Etymology23 · 02/11/2017 12:28

I wear long socks in boots with tights underneath and then a skirt on top. Long sleeve m and s heatgen vests, real wool jumpers and then a scarf as well.

Jacket may not be required for smartness but can be good as an extra layer.
