Can anyone recommend a style blogger/instagrammer who isn't rich and smug?

Every one I come across seems to have loads of money and is seemingly very smug about it.

Can anyone please recommend any style bloggers or instagrammers that aren’t like this?

I find it depressing to read the rich and smug blogs!

If you want a blogger who is the antithesis of consumerist, must-have, constant new things, I really rate Un-Fancy.

Based around the capsule wardrobe concept, she does a very good job of promoting a thoughtful, considered and sustainable approach to fashion and clothing, whilst still loving fashion.

A little bit American in style, which is fair since she is American, but I don't mind that.

I like that she gives lots of really good ideas of how to use a few items in different ways to create lots of different outfits from them.

@DelilahDarcey just tagging you so you get a notification, since I'm a bit late to the party Smile

NatMatCat · 11/11/2017 13:28

Yeah DMBL40 seems to have really stepped it up a gear in terms of monetising her stuff. That's probably just an inevitable result of the increasing money on offer to people like her. She'd be having to actively turn down big money with the amount of followers she has.

JCleRoux · 11/11/2017 13:35

I love Tee Clutter. Her style is effortless and from the high street. Also have a look at Me and my wardrobe. She's always posting bargains and sales and stuff from TK Maxx etc.

ProfessorCat · 11/11/2017 13:37

Rachelthehat

Pomegranatepompom · 11/11/2017 20:08

I think I will unfollow DMBL40, I much preferred her posts when if was the changing room shots trying on things I might actually buy.

Twoo · 11/11/2017 20:18

Crumbs ... this thread is totally lost on me. Had a quick peruse of the linked blog.

Why on earth don't you ladies find your own style. Style & flair costs nothing. Blog following is for lemmings Grin

HolgerDanske · 11/11/2017 20:27

I have my own style, thanks.

Still like to have a look at others for ideas on how to put things together.

JanetStWalker · 12/11/2017 05:17

Another vote for Emma Hill, I can't stand most people to be honest but I really like her and her 76 dogs. Her YouTube videos are worth a watch.

JanetStWalker · 12/11/2017 05:25

DMBL40 was a favourite too for a while until I heard her speak, I was expecting her to sound warm and vaguely Irish but instead she's got one of those brittle, haughty accents that always sound slightly condescending...silly but it put me off her. Blush

JanetStWalker · 12/11/2017 05:27

No different to looking at a magazine really, Twoo, or do you not do that either?

Fozzleyplum · 12/11/2017 07:27

You could have a look at Midlife chic. Her looks work in the real world and her writing about life in general is excellent - she comes across as very likeable.

FlyingSoloFlyingFree · 12/11/2017 07:54

Midlife Chic has a very different style to mine, she’s much more classic but at the same time quite fashiony. But I read her blog avidly because she writes so well - warm and interesting and actually appears to have spellchecked and proofread. I suspect she’s pretty well off but she doesn’t come across as smug which in blog world is a rare quality!

checkedcloth · 12/11/2017 08:09

Posts from some Instagrammers this week detailing ‘when it gets too much’ have had me smirking. I’d suggest not having to work, going to lots of lovely fashion events during the day and being there to pick up the kids at 3pm sounds is a lifestyle
Very very few achieve.

CaptainsCat · 12/11/2017 08:25

I really like Eimear Varian Barry. She is my favourite instagrammer/blogger!

WipsGlitter · 12/11/2017 08:26

I think the problem for the successful ones is it’s a viscous circle if trying to create content out of shite. They need to keep their following up so resort to going to the opening on an envelope so they have something I talk about. DMBL40 always had expensive stuff it’s just more obvious now.

I love Chloe loves to shop but her accent sounds really put on.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 12/11/2017 08:51

Erica Davies is lovely.

BringMeTea · 12/11/2017 09:03

This woman is a newish kid on the block. I really like her.

checkedcloth · 12/11/2017 09:13

I agree re Eimear, her style is great and she’s very watchable. Never hear a ‘woe is me’ post. I know this is a personal view but the whole, ‘it’s too much I’ve got to choose a new sofa and organise a kids party this week’ with hand on brow drives me mad. Yep, some of us do that plus work full time jobs.

pinkhousesarebest · 12/11/2017 09:33

I love Chloe loves to Shop and she has cost me a fortune in H and M. She always takes time to answer even the most mundane questions. I have seen DMB be very waspish with anyone not toeing the sycophant line so have unfollowed. Love the Frugality and Wears my Money. Also a French instagramer who finds brilliant nuggets is idée 2 look.

Tokelau · 12/11/2017 09:34

How about this one? doseofb.com/ She’s a student, so not rich!

Pomegranatepompom · 13/11/2017 22:43

I'm unfollowing DMB, just saw very annoying clip on insta stories.
Thanks for the blog suggestions !

GGi · 19/11/2017 20:41

I really love SusieSoSo, SmallTownThreads and Myfashionable40s for keeping it real & attainable, but staying true to their roots and style.

Dontknowwhattodonowok · 19/11/2017 20:43

Definitely Emma Hill. Love her. Also 40NotFrumpy always has some great bits and models them so well. And BuyNowBlogLater

Liiinoo · 19/11/2017 20:57

A life to Style is good. www.alifetostyle.com/

Very down to earth and normal budget. Also, not London based so what she recommends is available nationwide.
