Apparently castor oil can help with hair growth including eyebrows and lashes.

I want to try this but I sometimes find it hard to stick to a routine Shock

I have been using castor oil on my brows and lashes at night now for a few weeks and I DO think I can see a difference already!?!(I got this tip from Mumsnet a while back)
Can also use on your hair but not done so as yet.
Like the vaseline tip-I have used this before and it does work.
My "tip" is so obvious but I never did it until I saw all my friends tubes cut in half and then stuck into one another-the mind boggled! until I realised...When your tubes of literally anything run out-simple cut them in half and you can get to LOADS left inside.

What brand of coconut oil would you use?
I remember someone telling me that Vaseline made her lashes grow longer and more silky

TheLastPeg,,,thanks for that tip.Im going to try it as my forehead lines are quite pronounced

Sweetpea55 · 25/10/2017 16:27

I read that Anusol tightens up eye bags and wrinkles before applying make up,,The smell has put me off though,

arrrrghhwinehelpswithteens · 25/10/2017 16:37

baby lotion for waterproof mascara. Cold cream for removing make up & Witch Hazel on spots (a bottle is around £1.50 in the local chemist and lasts ages!).

Not heard the vaseline thing but may try that!

Nutellalovesme · 25/10/2017 16:45

Placing cold slices of potato under eyes supposedly help to lighten dark circles.

echt Alum is a really good anitperspirant and deodourant too actually.

It's got a great many uses :)

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 25/10/2017 17:04

Isn't alum a form of aluminium? I would avoid...

fullofhope03 · 25/10/2017 17:09

sorry - can't think of any at the moment so placemarking Smile

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 25/10/2017 17:31

I use olive oil to remove eye make up. Kitchen stuff.

morningconstitutional2017 · 25/10/2017 17:40

It's still early days (about a month) since I started painting moisturising oil on my fingernails at night. Thus far not a single nail has split or broken - ten nice nails all at once - unheard of for me. It was suggested to me by a nurse at the GPs who uses almond oil and then puts gloves on when I admired her lovely long nails. I don't go as far as the gloves but so far I'm impressed.

BluebellGal · 25/10/2017 18:36

morning what do you mean by ‘moisturising oil’? Where do you get that and which brands do you use? I have a problem with splitting nails

MeadowHay · 25/10/2017 19:17

Sudocrem for spots. A big thick dollop when you're in the house on the spot and leave it on there, don't rub in, and the same overnight. Helps dry it out and calm it down and has antiseptic in it. Plus super cheap for a tub.

Sudocrem as after-sun as well on sun burn/mild burns. Cheap and cheerful, gently rub in a generous amount when you're at home as can give a white-ish sheen to you but really helps to cool the area down.

Driclor antiperspirant if you're dead sweaty like me. I sweat excessively as a side-effect of a medication I take and this is excellent. Can get it prescribed by your GP or buy OTC. About £5 for a bottle OTC but it lasts a very long time as after a few weeks you only have to apply it once a week or so to maintain the effect.

I use Oilatum bath emollient instead of shaving foam to shave my legs , tummy and bikini line. I have eczema which is aggravated by shaving, I think this helps calm it all down and lock in moisture, I use a generous amount. I get mine on prescription as I get free prescriptions but you can buy OTC although it's fairly expensive but a big bottle lasts me ages as I don't shave that much outside of summer Blush.

I'm currently using a nude liquid eyeshadow by No.7 as a primer. It was cheap as got it in a gift set and works fine but also gives a bit of colour and sparkle if I don't have time to apply anything else over the top.

All too much like hard work.

Nivea soft on my face and that's it. A Bit of translucent powder, a lick of blush, a touch of lippy and off I go.

I know, I know I am not perfect, but once I feel and think I look fine it actually IS fine!

Minimal effort here lol.

Cider vinegar as a hair rinse and also for skin.
Biologique recherche basically contains vinegar and other acids.

specialsubject · 25/10/2017 19:29

Never rub mucky cream on burns, especially not baby bum cream. Asking for an infection.

The treatment for a burn is cool clean water, available from the tap in the UK.

If you have concerns about aluminium , dont use those 'natural' deodorants. Still contain aluminium compounds.

Not sure if it's a strange one, but I like using sugar as a scrub, either mixed with a dollop of shower gel or olive oil (be careful not to slip if using the oil in the bath or shower).

crazymissdaisy · 25/10/2017 20:56

Sudocrem is magic for anything on the skin. Cucumber slices over the eyes do reduce puffiness e.g. after hayfever. All make up is multi purpose eyes/ cheeks/ lips. That extra rinse of your hair with cold water to make it shinier.

Nutellalovesme · 25/10/2017 21:47

Homemade body scrub is great I use sugar and olive oil. Occasionally I use exfoliating gloves but I find them too scratchy and I'm left red for quite a while after

Vitamin E oil... from Holland and Barrett ... excellent as a moisturiser and I use on my frizzy curls too.

Sladurche · 25/10/2017 22:08

Great big pot of Nivea Creme (a bit like cold cream). Multitude of uses: hand and body moisturiser; make-up remover, and good for shaving armpits. And it smells nice!

Misstomrs · 25/10/2017 22:14

Yes, yes, yes, to the Nivea creme. Love this stuff

Lotsofsausage · 25/10/2017 22:17

Sudocrem after waxing bikini line, stops the dreaded spots!
