Honest opinions about my hair colour (and how old I look btw)

My hair is naturally cool brown. Here it s dyed a tone lighter on top and the ends are balayaged blonder. I have very thin hair as you can see. My eyes are hazel, mostly olive green with a little light brown. I was ash blonde for many years but I am now a brunette as I missed it a lot. I just dont know what shade of brown to go for so that i dont look boring/frumpy. Should I go darker, lighter, or as is? Also one colour or balayage again? Please also post inspiration pics if you have any.
One last thing: inspired by the other thread, how old do I look? Absolutely no filters in the pic.

I would say that you are a similar age to me (40) but unlike me you have lovely even skin and look lovely and fresh. If my hair was finer (like yours) id go for a bob!

RebeccaWrongDaily · 22/10/2017 14:51

how is saying 'you look 40's' harsh? She looks 'about my age' and similar age to lots of my friends, we're in our 40's

Toomanylists · 22/10/2017 14:54

I think you look early 30s and think you could go either way - a really light Ash blonde would suit you too and look more striking
Can I ask the same question? Gone lighter lately and think I look washed out - photo took last night in restaurant loo slightly drunk with no filter - as an aside interested in how old I look.

You have great skin and lovely bone structure. I think you look "cool" - I think you'd look great with ashy blonde hair cut shorter than your current style to show off your lovely face. Maybe one of those messy, short bobs.

buggerthebotox · 22/10/2017 14:58

Great minds, toomany. Grin.

I think you both look mid-late 30s.

Theconifers25 · 22/10/2017 15:01

I'd say 45 toomany.
I think long wavy baylage would look great on you in a warm mix

PinkLipsDontLie · 22/10/2017 15:37

@Toomanylists you look good and I like your curls. You seem to suffer from the same mousiness as me! It seems we both have to go either darker or blonder! Age guess would be 40. I suck at guessing.

@buggerthebotox thank you! Most of you seem to want me to go darker but the last two opinions will have me looking and blond colours again. Oh dear.

Also rubbish at age but would say not 40 but over 33! I'm also rubbish at picking hair tones but your skin is amazing.

TheLuckyMrsPine · 22/10/2017 15:44

Toomany cannot be in 40s .... mid 30s max!

hendricksyousay · 22/10/2017 15:46

I’d say 45 , the lines under your eyes give away age imo . Your hair is fine if a bit mousy .
There seems to be a lot of people asking their age today 🤔🤔

Tuvix · 22/10/2017 15:57

I would say you are around 40. Think you should go a rich auburn colour all over, dont like this balayage fad, and you have a large forehead, think a fringe would make you look younger too

Ellapaella · 22/10/2017 16:00

Yes a shorter bob, maybe graduated with some layers at the front to frame your face. Because your hair is quite thin it looks a bit ‘flat’ so a style would give it a bit more oomph iyswim. And I think highlights and lowlights - woven in together would be perfect for you.

Ellapaella · 22/10/2017 16:01

You say you’re cool toned but your skin looks like it has yellowy undertones in the photo? I still think caramel would look good.

PinkLipsDontLie · 22/10/2017 16:02

@zippyswife thank you!

@TheLuckyMrsPine thank you too!

@hendricksyousay oh my under eye lines must look pretty bad then! I don't think there's a solution to that so I will concentrate on hair for now.

To be honest @toomany I picked one number for you but if I picked a range it would be 38-40. Not that its that much of a difference.

Have you tried rubbing volumising powder / dry shampoo just into the roots, OP, to help with volume? Just a thought as powder’s the only thing that works for me. Your hair looks a lovely colour otherwise and suits you.

Hairq · 22/10/2017 16:04

I actually don't think you're cool toned. Your beautiful but that shade of lipstick is not doing you any favours, whereas a warmer shade would I think. I'd say you're an autumn, but leaning towards the more neutral warm tones. I don't think you're a winter as they so rarely have mouser hair.

Hairq · 22/10/2017 16:05

And re: hair I think a neutral dark brown would look great on you.

PinkLipsDontLie · 22/10/2017 16:08

@Tuvix wouldn't a fringe leave even less hair around my face? I mean I thought you needed lots of hair to be able to cut a rich fringe. Could u post a pic of a fringe you think would suit me?

@Ellapaella it's the artificial light. I have rosy cheeks! Definitely pinkish skin and unwanted redness without some foundation.

JoandMax · 22/10/2017 16:14

I think you need to go darker with some low lights and highlights - a mix of colors will make your hair look more textured and thicker.

Age wise I would say 40ish?

Too many - I love your hair as it is!! And age I would go late thirties/early forties

Ellapaella · 22/10/2017 16:14

Two hairstyles/colours I think would suit you (pics from Pinterest)

Doggington · 22/10/2017 16:16

I’d say 41. And go darker with the hair.

LoveProsecco · 22/10/2017 16:18

Early 30s and I like the pic above (short dark bob)

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 22/10/2017 16:18

I'm thinking shorter blunt cut with fringe and darker. A bit like Uma Thurman in Pulp fiction.

Fairylea · 22/10/2017 16:20

I think you should go darker and have some messy type layers put in around your face, maybe a bit shorter / bob style.

Sparkletastic · 22/10/2017 16:22

I think you could go proper blonde. Not sure the balayage is having much impact. I’d say you are mid 40s.
