Fringe- yay or nay?

I've got a haircut booked for this afternoon. I don't go very often as I have been growing my hair out from a very short crop a couple years ago.. it's not in great condition to be frank. Colour is ok though. But I kind of have a yearning for a fringe. But I have no idea whether it would look ok as I wear specs and also by the time I have hair trimmed it will be kind of jaw length I think. It's collar length now. Hair is highlighted and slightly wavy. I suit messy hair best. But I am a bit on the fat side around my neck I kind of resent paying to have a trim you see and feel like il get more for my money if I have a fringe cut in which is a stupid reason right? I know.
Something like the attached photos?

I wouldn't, but then it took me about 4 years to grow out the one I had as a teenager. I also haven't the patience to keep washing it every morning and faffing with it when it's greasy but the rest of my hair doesn't need a wash (it's dry and curly).

I don't see that it wouldn't suit you and obviously you can discuss this with your stylist before you decide but I find the upkeep of a fringe just so fussy myself!

Will you commit to potentially having to straighten your fringe every morning and be okay with how hot your forehead will get if you have one? Also there's the growing out phase if you decide it's not for you , it takes ages to have enough length to keep it truly out of your way.

Just to say , I think fringes look amazing but it's about the commitment it takes to keep one looking presentable.

Hmm I generally wash my hair every day anyway. And not averse to a bit of straightening. I do often straighten my hair anyway. But I do get a bit hot flushy. If I didn't have glasses I wouldn't hesitate , and also wondering whether the rest of it will be too short to accommodate the fringe. Don't want to look like a lego head! Or Thelma from scooby doo

Ok this is totally outing but this is a photo of me NOW. (With hair straightened and tied back) now what do you think?

Sorry, I am going to disagree and say your face and hair look fine in that style, albeit with a bit of a trim and straighten. Also, I can't see why you would say you have a fat neck - it absolutely is not!

Haha I actually DO have a fat neck- it's sideways on that's the issue/middle age is kicking me in the jowls!

You have a long forehead so bear in mind, fringe will be long too. So if you want it blunt straight across, it'll look rather heavy (I hope that's not come out as an insult re forehead, it's not meant to be!)

Completely get the fringe temptation. I think some people look fabulous with them. I've given in to the temptation twice and have finally accepted that I'm not one of them! I think they look best on people with straight, thick hair.

Since you've been growing your hair, I'd go for a really good cut without a fringe this time, and see how that looks and feels. If you're still hankering after a fringe you could always have one cut in next time.

I wouldn't. Just get a good trim to improve the condition. I wish I could rock the messy hair look like you can

Ahh thanks for the lovely comments. Right am still undecided. Am going to throw a dice when I get there (not really). Will posts pix later if I decide to throw caution to the wind and just do it (if I don't look like Thelma)
