If you have amazing eyebrows, how did you get them?

I see so many people with lovely, neat eyebrows. Not the big HD caterpillars, just very tidy brows which have obviously had some kind of cosmetic ‘intervention’ more significant than plucking Grin

My brows are fine and quite blonde. I currently use a brush then pencil them in with a dark blonde crayon thing. They look ok but not amazing.

I’ve heard about microblading. Is this what I need? I’ve had them shaped and tinted before and they look naice but it doesn’t fatten them up enough or last long enough. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Book an appointment at a Benefit brow bar and, after they shape them, let them sell you some products and show you how to apply them.

JanetStWalker · 05/10/2017 21:49

I dyed my fair brows brown and realised they were an astonishingly good shape! Needless to say they now get dyed on a regular basis.

My daughter had hers microbladed, before and after pics attached. She says it didn’t really hurt, just stung a bit. I’m sure she paid around £240, we’re NE England

I have HD brows. They're amazing. Strangers compliment me on them. They are not caterpillars, they are neat and tidy but natural. I see a fab lady at her house very month, 30 mins and I leave feeling fantastic.

HD = tint (to a shade of your choice); trim, so even length; wax away the strays; thread to soften the edges; pluck to thin them out and get a nice arch. Apparently there are 7 steps but I have no idea what the other 2 are, unless the last one is "stare at your lovely eyebrows in any shiny surface you come across".

crazymissdaisy · 05/10/2017 22:03

Benefit browzings: a wax and powder compact with a nice square brush with sharp edges. Also YouTube tutorials. My eyebrows were admired today by the 14 year olds I teach- praise indeed!

nellyboo2 · 05/10/2017 22:13

Had mine microbladed for free. Just had to travel to London to be a model for training.
Would’ve cost £300 otherwise. Very happy with them.

BusterGonad · 05/10/2017 22:29

A lot of love for Benefit!

DameGlitterSparkles · 05/10/2017 23:24

I pluck and tint my own (Dybrow)
I use ABH dipbrow and the Benefit angled brush Smile
Wax occasionally

Ollivander84 · 05/10/2017 23:33

I have them threaded or do them myself, tinted usually too. Then use a tinted brow gel to darken them a bit

Sunbeam18 · 05/10/2017 23:56

HDs are not all caterpillars; those are the badly done ones. I get HD done and my brows look great and not too dark or sluggy!

MamaJaye · 06/10/2017 02:36

Another vote for HD brows. No caterpillars here. Used to have them done every 6 weeks but now get them done every 3 months. Love getting it done!

silkpyjamasallday · 06/10/2017 07:08

I have a natural monobrow with thick dark hairs, Frida Kahlo style, I just pluck and shape them myself, I've been doing it since I was 8 so I am pretty good at it by now. My ex boyfriends dad used to ask me if they were painted on long before 'HD' brows were a thing Grinpersonally I'd never have them tinted or shaped, I'm a firm believer that the eyebrows you were born with are the ones that will suit you best. Mine just need a bit of a tidy up occasionally.

Mamia15 · 06/10/2017 07:13

In my youth the only time I plucked my eyebrows was to remove stray hairs - as a result I have decent eyebrows for someone who's nearly 50 unlike people who followed the thin eyebrows trend. Their eyebrows never recovered.

MissyCupCake · 06/10/2017 07:41

I’ve had mine microbladed and I love the results!

It was painful, but worth it. Now minimum morning effort required. Not that I put that much effort to start with...

mania - here too! My inherent laziness as far as a beauty routine is concerned means that I'm currently on trend. That's a first!

Threading and ABH dip pomade here!

Chochito · 13/05/2020 17:28

I think my eyebrows are 'normal', but I do get compliments on them frequently including from strangers and people who work in hair / make-up. They are just my own eyebrows and I tweeze about 3 stray hairs off one side every week or so.

I over-plucked my brows when I was younger so had them microbladed about 18 months ago. The lady who did them has a brilliant reputation but I was really disappointed - I felt they looked too strong and fake. They faded quite a bit within a year and now they're basically all gone thankfully; I wouldn't have it done again! I can always tell when others have had their brows microbladed and I think it generally only looks good if you have make-up on, otherwise it's a bit much.

I've tried countless products to get my brows to grow (including Latisse and Rapid Brow - both not great thought Latisse/Careprost is amazing for lashes) but nothing beats using Regaine Extra Strength Scalp Solution (comes as liquid in a little bottle - I think the foam would be a nightmare to use on the face!). I got the idea from reading these posts and seeing her incredible before and after photos!

I've now been applying Regaine (which has the active wonder ingredient Minoxidil) on my eyebrows every evening with a little brush for the past 4/5 months. I've seen really good growth and my eyebrows look a lot better - I no longer need to use brow pencil! I dye them myself using Refectocil tint and hold them in place using brow soap as this holds a lot better than brow gel.

I've also tried brow lamination and my brows looked amazing but the hairs got quite damaged so I wouldn't do it again. It also didn't last that long.

Another vote for microblading. I did find it painful, but totally, totally worth it

Quarantimespringclean · 14/05/2020 09:30

I have mine microbladed. I had a top up just before lockdown and they are a great comfort to me as my fringe grows out and my roots run riot.

It hurts a lot as it’s being done bit the pain is absolutely worth it. I take paracetamol half an hour before which helps.

I wish I’d had my botox topped up too. My face is slipping down now. 😞

StCharlotte · 14/05/2020 09:52

My natural mid-brown eyebrows aren't bad. I have them threaded from time to time (a good threader is a miracle worker) but normally I maintain them with some plucking in between. I occasionally touch them up on high days and holidays (and Zoom days!) as there are some bright blonde ones.

I think Benefit have the best range of eyebrow products! They do a two tone powder now with a soft shade at the start and darker at the end, I really want to try it!

This is what I use - I love it.

naplavni · 25/05/2020 19:22

Micro blading was the only thing that saved my sparse brows. It's not a fix all though. You need to have several treatments over periods of time to maintain them looking good. As it's a semi permanent tattoo they do fade if you choose not to go back when they say.

The procedure is like an annoying constant stinging. I have no actual tattoos to compare the pain to but I've given birth and I can tell you it's nothing like that 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Go for it. Itl be the best thing you do!

Diva66 · 25/05/2020 19:43

I got my lovely neat arched eyebrows after developing hypothyroidism, they were quite thick before and I had to pluck them regularly! Fortunately the hair on my scalp hasn’t been affected.
