If you wore a skirt today, which did you wear and what with ?

I've decided to wear more skirts and dresses but i can't for the life of me figure out what to buy, I really wear trousers and nothing else !

I wore a burgundy corduroy short skirt. It was from matalan years ago and I hadn't worn it until I unearthed it a few months ago. I wore it with navy tights, brown boots and a jersey long sleeve t shirt. I am not cool though.

I’d like to wear more skirts but never know what to wear on my feet. I usually wear a-line minis with crew neck t shirts/turtle necks tucked in with a pair of loafers. What other shoes can I wear?

I wore a grey camouflage print mini skirt with a black lace top with a camisole under it, black tights and boots

I've just started wearing more skirts & tops, usually with boots & black tights :)

Black pencil skirt and a very bright orange top, tights and brogues.

Long dark red jersey pencil skirt with nice comfy elasticated waist band
Black strappy vest top.
Dark red/black mottled chunky knit v neck off the shoulder jumper.
Black suede flat boots.

Knee length joules floral skirt, with a fine knit v neck jumper and brogues.

I wore a maroon/brow (autumnal colour) needle cord skirt, black tights, black wedges and a short sleeve black jumper

What other shoes can I wear?

With skirts I wear brogues, loafers, pointy flats, mary janes, trainers, chelsea boots, DMs. Basically everything in my wardrobe!

I had a navy/grey print tube skirt on today with a navy cos top, navy tights and loafers. Cardigan/blazer over the top.

I have drawer-full of thin, stretchy camisole tops that I wear daily. Some are long enough to be a longer layer under a shorter top or I will tuck the camisole in so that if my top rides up there's no 'bare middle' on display.

I love autumn wear....today I wore a black knee length denim skirt with a pale grey tshirt and longline charcoal cardigan. Black opaque tights with suede ankle boots.
I never tuck anything in,haven't got the waist for it but do wear shorter length tops with skirts than I would with trousers.

Black A-line embroidered mini skirt, black cable knit tights, black suede slouch ankle boots and black fine knit v-neck jumper.

I tend to wear waist length jumpers with an A-line skirt, and hip length with a tube skirt. I prefer jumpers with no band round the bottom. I hate being tucked in, I find it really uncomfortable and I look like a badly stuffed sausage!

I have an hourglass figure and only wear trousers. I feel like a man in drag if I wear a skirt, the look is too much tits and arse. I struggle in the colder months. I am okay in jeans but in the winter my work uniform consists of black trousers and fine knit cardigans. I love the lighter months, I look so much better in 3/4 length trousers and different styles of tops. In the winter I look so dowdy.

I wore a green pleated skirt from Gap with a grey t-shirt that has a sequin pineapple on from H&M with tan and gold sandals. I don’t usually wear skirts but I’d like to more so I’m trying to experiment a bit at the moment.

All of you with waist length tops - how tall are you & where are you buying them from. Being only 5'3", I find most tops are too long to wear with a skirt (usually a-line).

Black and white flower print shortish skater skirt worn with black opaque tights, a red jumper and doc Martin shoes (work). It looks nicer than it sounds!

Reading with interest, as I'm trying to get back into skirts after a period when I didn't have any waist...

Today I'm trying an a-line below the knee denim skirt (Toast sale), loose-ish long-sleeved linen top (also Toast sale) and mid-calf biker-style boots from Fly. Should I be matching my tights to skirt (blue) or boots (black)??

I wore a burgundy tuched skirt from hush with black tights, tan knee high boots, a white cami and a denim shirt with sleeves rolled up and collar popped.

@penstemon when I say waist length, I’m incredibly short waisted so it’s what would be waist length on a regular shaped person. I’m 5’6 but all my height is in my legs. Can you sew, as it’s dead easy to shorten a straight edged top.

Great thread. Skirts are hard, there are so many things to co-ordinate. Should your tights be the same colour as your boots? Should your tights and boots be same colour as your top? Does your top have to be a similar colour to your skirt?

@teaandakitkat I say no. I’m all in favour of black opaques and tan boots (either knee high or ankle length). Also a fan of coloured tights and boots (have tights in red purple teal and yellow - although the yellow may have been a mistake).

I tend not to match tights to top. And someone’s match tights to boots - but only black with black.

Excellent thread, although dangerous, I now have the Hush page open on the ruched skirt and my finger is hovering!
