Opinions on eyebrow shape for wedding

eyebrowseyebrows · 15/09/2017 16:12

So I've just had a make up trial for my wedding...

The shape that my make up person made my eyebrows is really quite different to how I normally have them.

She's happy to do whatever I want but obviously feels her way suits me better which has now made me wonder if she's right and I've had the wrong eyebrows all this time Shock

In this pic I've kept one eyebrow as per the make up stylist and one how I would normally wear it...

Opinions on whether the one on the left of the photo or right of the photo is better?

As an aside...seeing how lopsided my face looks with different eyebrows makes you realise how important they are!

I had a trial for my wedding with a MUA and hated it, all the shading on the eyes and blush positioning looked hideous on me

I think if you wear a lot of make up daily you know your own face a lot better than an average MUA and how to make the best of your own features

fabulousathome · 15/09/2017 20:14

I like the one on the right of the photo. It's more natural, less harsh (sorry).

Ollivander84 · 15/09/2017 21:21

Foundation after eyes is pretty common, I do it. Means you can clean up any eyeshadow fallout easily then apply foundation. But your eyebrow looks better!

NC4now · 15/09/2017 21:25

Left. You are way better at your brows than she is. Get someone else, or do them yourself.

verite · 15/09/2017 21:50

I had a make up artist do my make up for my wedding and I hated it. I went into the loo after and washed it all off and quickly re-did it whilst my chief bridesmaid kept everyone out. Made me 15 minutes late for the actual ceremony but was worth it!!

eyebrowseyebrows · 15/09/2017 22:01

I think I've decided I'm going to do my own. I'm quite picky about make up so I'd rather do a million trials myself at make up counters and home

Foundation after the eyes is good practice as it means you don't get any eyeshadow spillage on your foundation!

Amee1992x · 16/09/2017 01:42

Based on the eyebrow she done alone is be furious if any of my MUAs let anyone leave my salon suggesting it was better than their own. Your own eyebrow is lovely.

Runaways01 · 16/09/2017 01:49

The right eyebrow isn't a great shape, but it does look more natural (shape and colour) than the left.

So I'd go with right, but use a little eyebrow make-up where the eyebrows start to subtly improve the shape.

EnidButton · 16/09/2017 02:33

Definitely the left. I wouldn't trust anyone to do anything let alone my make up who thought the right one was better.

I don't think it's that thick either. It's just right. Do your own make up or at least find someone other than the one you had today.

ChocolatePHD · 16/09/2017 08:21

Do your own makeup Op! I did. The chances of someone painting your face better than you do it yourself every day are pretty slim. Your own eyebrow handiwork is much better!

CountFosco · 16/09/2017 10:45

I actually prefer the MUA's eyebrow because it's more natural. Your one might be a more 'perfect' and fashionable shape but in 20 years you'll be laughing at those heavy painted on eyebrows.

Emboo19 · 16/09/2017 10:58

How can anyone think the MUA one is more natural? I've never seen natural (un plucked) eyebrows that thin and starting so far in. Apologies Op if your natural brows always looked like that, but it looks to me that you over plucked at some point.
My DD at 11 months has much thicker brows than the MUA ones and I can assure you they are completely natural! We are blessed/cursed (depends how you look at it) with hair though, so sparse brows will never be a problem she has.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 16/09/2017 11:10

I had two makeovers at counters before my wedding and they confirmed my idea of doing it myself. They both made my eyeliner a really odd shape and I just wasn't sold on it. I spent the money on loads of new makeup instead!

Patchouli666 · 16/09/2017 12:28

You haven't got buggy eyes at all but the brow she's done for you, you look like you have. Not a.good look.

itsbetterthanabox · 16/09/2017 12:32

Left definitely.
The right is poorly shaped. I know mua go more natural first as they can build up but the shape itself is hooked and not done well.

clumsyduck · 16/09/2017 12:34

Left by a mile !! I'd do your own makeup for the wedding !!

Anatidae · 16/09/2017 12:44

Neither ... and both.. sort of

The one on your right eye (left in the pic) looks too drawn in. The left (right in eh pic) is too thin.

The shape of of the right eye is better, and more balanced, but it's too 'drawn in.' You need to be more subtle with the pencil

My advice, leave them alone for a while, then gently shape them - a thicker brow like you did, but without looking too drawn on. Currently there's too much taken off the bottom of each brow and that's making you look a bit buggy. Microblading ... hmm well I've seen a lot of it done and everyone swears it looks so natural but it still looks like marker pen to me

I'd do your own makeup - you're nice looking and you don't need the 'full face of slap' look that is so prevalent just now.

So the shape you did, but subtler. No squared off start.

MorningCuppa · 16/09/2017 12:55

Left 100% it frames your face better.

mamamalt · 16/09/2017 13:03

Left in photo so obv your right eye. Beautiful! Have them both like this! 👌🏼

Haffiana · 16/09/2017 18:40

Hmm, I was going to say left, apart from the fact the inner corner is too squared off and so looks modern/painted on. However, if I cover half your face with my hand, I can see that the left is actually in the wrong place and too high up on your face. I can also see that it is too thick.

The right is in the right place height-wise, and that makes your whole face look prettier. I agree with PP that it starts a little to far out, and needs to start closer to the centre. It needs a bit more shape as it is too uniform in thickness, and could be a tad thicker, but not as thick as your left.

Try covering half with your hand and see if you see what I am getting at...

RockinSushi · 16/09/2017 18:52

She's a bit crap then. I'm no MUA but even I know where an eyebrow should start and finish!
