Can anyone recommend a good primer without silicone?

I don't have allergies or sensitivities or anything like that, just don't like the feel of silicone heavy primers.

I have combination/oily skin - don't mind going a bit spendy for a really good one.

Thanks!

I use a thin layer of sudocrem Grin Think I first read about on here and since I had a tub left over unused from the dc gave it a whirl. Works really well for my skin as I have rosacea and am allergic to some skincare ingredients.

ollivander yes I did, thanks for the tip! Also plan to get the sports one you recommended as I run to work and some days can feel my make-up slide off as soon as I put it on, but don't have enough time to wait for my face to cool down.

I'm on a mission to convert everyone to Korean makeup/skincare Grin
The sport FX one feels weird when you put it on, has a really cooling sensation

I like this one:

www.amazon.co.uk/Bourjois-Happy-Light-Primer-Matifying/dp/B00EUZUIFI/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1506337918&sr=8-2&keywords=bourjois+primer&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Silica, Alcohol Denat., Cellulose, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Octyldodecanol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, HDI/Trimethylol

But I actually mainly just use my suncream as primer, the Biore Watery Essence, works as well as a primer.

Dimethicone (in Etude Face Blur) and polymethylsilsesquioxane (in the Bourjois primer above) are silicones. They can be really hard to find in the ingredients. I just discovered that my beloved Supergoop CCs contain dimethicone, which is a PITA.

In the interests of science Grin I tried the Too Faced Hangover primer, Urban Decay All Nighter, Clarins Beauty Flash and milk of magnesia last week/weekend.

A combo of Hangover finished with All Nighter seemed to do nothing, everything slid off my nose as always.

Using Beauty Flash my makeup turned out very yellow so I had to take it all off and start again with a cooler shade. I've used it before with no problems so there could be other circumstances at play, eg I haven't been getting a lot of sun for the past too weeks so my foundation was possibly already going to be a bit dark.

I'm intrigued by the MoM idea but I think it may take a bit of time to get the amount right. One time I used too little, the next time I used too much. It makes your face feel a bit gummy, which might be what's required.

I don't really understand what the problem is. My face is not normally all that greasy, nor is my foundation (I tend to use mineral powder makeup unless I need SPF, then I use Supergoop), but at some stage it suddenly becomes all about managing the layer of colour sitting just above my skin. My face tends to be a bit red so the point of the colour is to tone that down and when it begins peeking through it looks worse than no foundation at all.

arousing it doesn't feel as thick as other primers I have used - maybe dimethicone is the silicone for me, or there isn't much in it.
ollivander I feel the same! I have started taking my Korean (and The Ordinary) purchases into work for other people to try.

Nonicknamesleft · 26/09/2017 00:18

I also recommend The Ordinary. They do a few different primers. I never used one until my bf, who's All Woman and takes amazing care of herself, sent me one for my birthday a few months ago. I'm absolutely converted: it disappears into your skin but makes it look much smoother, clearer etc, and make up looks fresh all day.

For context, I'm 49 and with decent skin despite many terrible skin habits. So any primer has its work cut out with me; The Ordinary product seems very much up to it.

I just posted about this recently. I have very sensitive skin & break out from Silicones. I have just bought Kryolan Ultra Underbase & it contains no Silicones. It is light & non greasy. I’m in Australia but I expect you could get it online.
