Removing doublewear?

LetZygonsbeZygones · 09/09/2017 12:13

If you wear Double Wear or DWL what do you use to remove it? At the moment I'm using micellar water but to be honest, whatever I've tried so far I seem to need gallons of cleanser to get it all off. Is there a magic cleanser or method of removal I don't know about? Cannot knock DWLs lasting power but getting all off again is a major job.

You need to double cleanse (basically wash your face twice) for something that heavy. And wipes are rubbish. Try something like TBS Camomile cleansing butter, or Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser.

I use Estée Lauder perfectly clean cleanser I love it

Neverknowing · 09/09/2017 12:26

I would use whatever cleanser you use on a cotton pad and then use a face wash. A lot of people forget to use a face wash as they think they've gotten everything off with a wipe this isn't the case. If you prefer you can do it the other way round too!

I second the double cleanse routine every day regardless of foundation, but especially when DW is involved; I love it but it needs hefty cleansing. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is lovely, as is Liz Earle. I use one of those then micellar water afterwards to remove residue.

I honestly think double cleansing has cleared my skin amazingly; been doing it for 2 years and although I'm still oily I don't get blackheads, sebaceous filaments filled with grime or spots at all.

I'm just placing marking for the products mentioned, sorry Blush

Hope the double cleansing does the trick.

Thanks so much. Will go into town and investigate these.

Try a cleansing oil (L'Oréal one good) will break it down very quickly

Alibongo37 · 09/09/2017 12:48

Bio derma. A milacular water (or however you spell it) like no other! I too use DW.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 09/09/2017 12:55

Alibongo' The Bioderma micellar water is what I'm using now! I literally use about 5 cotton pads of the stuff and still don't feel I'm getting all the DW off because if I use a flannel after there's still makeup on it.

Definitely double cleanse.

I use the Garnier micellar water on a cotton pad first and then I cleanse with a cream based cleanser like Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish.

FourEyesGood · 09/09/2017 14:07

I use DWL and remove it with Merumaya melting cleansing balm (apply it to face (dry), massage, add a little warm water, then rinse thoroughly using a cloth). It smells lovely too!

LetZygonsbeZygones · 09/09/2017 14:57

The body shop flannel looks good. I am going to try their camomile butter and this I think.

I normally use Johnsons make up wipes, they're the best of the wipes around IMO and you can usually get it all off with one wipe.

You definitely need to wash your face though after. Really surprised that people would not do that automatically as the wipes are there just to remove the makeup, not deal with excess oil/dirt in pores etc which is what facewash is for.

Recently got the Superdrug radiant hot cloth cleanser and that's effective.

Ninjakittysmells · 09/09/2017 15:12

I double cleanse with the Superdrug hot cloth cleanser (the dupe For Liz Earle) then I use miceller water for a final cleanse..... my skins never been better since I started this!

Orangebird69 · 09/09/2017 17:14

The camomile butter is what I'm currently using. It's fab and lasts ages.

ProseccoMamam · 09/09/2017 17:51

The trick is to use make up remover wipes for the bulk of it then micellar water for any left on residue (micellar water will remove any Nast chemicals and stop the skin drying out from the wipes)

NurseButtercup · 09/09/2017 17:54

Coconut oil gets it off first time!

dudsville · 09/09/2017 17:56

Eve lom does it in one go.

RatRolyPoly · 09/09/2017 18:05

Baby oil all over your face to "dissolve" it, then wash the baby oil off with whatever cleanser. This was years ago though. These days i might use an oil based cleanser instead of baby oil; I have one by Sanctuary which is an oil you rub on which emulsifies into a cream with water then washes off. I reckon that'd dissolve the doublewear too :) I'd still follow it up with a less oily cleanser too though!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 09/09/2017 18:29

Una Brennan superfacialist vitamin c cleansing oil from boots. Gets all my double wear and sunscreen off, smells lovely and rinses clean. I follow up with superfacialist neroli cleansing gel.

tigercub50 · 09/09/2017 18:32

I have never heard of doublewear!

TheLuckyMrsPine · 09/09/2017 19:42

I use a micellar water and then EL Perfectly Clean - gets it all off.
Have also used the Una Brennan super facial vit c oil followed my Perfectly Clean.

Both of above remove DW easily.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 09/09/2017 19:53

Wow. I didn't expect so many replies. Thank you all. I'm going to.town on Monday so will have a good look at some of these in Boots and Body Shop.

Love double wear it's my favourite everyday foundation.
I use a gel cleanser from Kiko cosmetics, it was around £5 in the sale and £12 full price I belief.
It gets it off in one go then I tone my skin and that pulls off any excess. Hope that helps!
