If you were 9m pg and going to a wedding, what would you wear?

Wedding is next week Shock and 'naice'.
I'm very pregnant though not massive. Usually take a 12, bridesmaids are in pink and grey (though I was supposed to be one, so it doesn't exclude these colours).
I'd like something full length ideally- thanks cankles.
And if I could wear a bra with it that'd be a bonus! Budget is pretty small I'm afraid, obvs will only be worn once and maternity allowance doesn't go far.
Please help!

I meant a bra with straps!

Plastic knickers? Grin

SteelyTesticlesOfObjectivity · 30/08/2017 13:54

Is this good or is it not naIce? www.hotfromhollywood.com/dr9375-drs-cnt-mt.html

EssentialHummus · 30/08/2017 13:55

I'd get onto Amazon for maternity clothes cheap, and dress it up with jewellery.

PotteringAlong · 30/08/2017 13:55

I'd wear whatever I could fit into and they'd have to lump it!

On a more helpful note, I'm in the north east and we have a local maternity clothes library. Anything like that near you?

JacquelineChan · 30/08/2017 13:56

i was in a similar position to you a few years ago , i found a good maxi dress in dorothy perkins . it wasn't too flash but easy to dress up with lovely accessories , and it did not cost the earth ( would never wear it again so like you did not want to splash out )
they have a sale on their maternity dresses at the moment

PandorasXbox · 30/08/2017 13:56

Have you nothing already you could wear? Seems a waste of money to fork out on a new outfit that you'll only wear once. Although I suppose you could sell it after.

DandelionAndBedrock · 30/08/2017 13:59

Dorothy Perkins have got some bargains, although not sure the full length things are in your size. Maybe call a local store?

DandelionAndBedrock · 30/08/2017 14:00

Jacqueline - I should have refreshed, sorry. Great minds!

JacquelineChan · 30/08/2017 14:01

haha how true Dandelion

OP , now i miss my baby bump ! i'm 42 , how did that happen FFS haha

PinkHeart5911 · 30/08/2017 14:02

A wrap style dress and supportive & flat shoes

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 14:02

Steely Grin
The link you posted is OK but I was looking for something more "special"
I ordered from asos but didn't like any!
I have only two smart mat dresses that I have worn quite a lot already (a wedding, hen do, 30th and garden party).
Will check amazon and DP's now thank you. And not heard of a maternity library but I'll look into that! Sounds ideal!

Hospital gown and yes to the plastic knickers! are you sure you should be attending it at all at 9m pg? you might cause a bit of a disturbance if it all kicks off!

Other than that, can you check out your local chazzers, see if they have anything in a larger size?

StorminaBcup · 30/08/2017 14:11

Asos do a great selection of occasion maternity dresses. This one is lovely and you could eBay it after to recoup some of them money!

wonkylegs · 30/08/2017 14:16

I went to two events the week before I gave birth - an awards dinner and a wedding.
For both I wore regular (not maternity) clothes just in shapes that worked.
I got a pale pink silk floaty empire line maxi dress with a stretchy bust in pink from TKmaxx for the wedding - about £30
For the awards dinner (I had to be smart as I was a judge and had to go up on the stage) I wore an ankle length chiffon skirt with the waistline above the bump and a fitted stretchy lace top in the same colour, with a different colour sash tied above my bump, sounds a bit weird but it really looked gorgeous. I had the skirt and top from before but bought a silk sash and wore fab shoes.
I had a neat (all up front) but huge bump and looked really pregnant.
I really didn't want to spend money on something I'd never wear again.
Perhaps look for a stretchy or empire line maxi and dress up with accessories & shoes.

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 14:25

MrsMotherHen the pink one looks good! I'll order that thank you. Don't think I'd get away with black & the alternative purple pattern is a bit casual?!
Some good potential in the right price bracket at DP's too.
Thumb not going is not an option unless I'm giving birth! Wedding venue is actually closer to the hospital too so will just pack my hospital bag and notes and hope I don't need them...
Raided the chazza last week but could drive to the nearest naice village and try theirs I guess!
wonky sounds lovely! I'm all up front too- will adopt your creative thinking if all else fails.

I think giving birth might be classed as stealing the brides thunder.... Grin I can see a bad comedy starting with the priest saying and "if anyone has a reason why these two should not be wed" and you just squeaking out loud!

wonkylegs · 30/08/2017 14:33

What about something like this m.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/showcase-multi-colour-natalie-maxi-dress-6598679

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 14:38

Oh God don't say that! Baby needs to either get out now or hang on til well after!
That's lovely wonky I could size up too but is it a bit white?!

OP posts:
wonkylegs · 30/08/2017 14:41

I think it would be fine if you have a pink shawl or cardi and shoes

BigGreenOlives · 30/08/2017 14:43

I had to go to both a funeral & a wedding at 40 weeks & wore the same dress to both. I think the biggest (sorry) problem you are going to have is not knowing at all what the weather is going to do, it might be freezing or boiling. Nothing useful to add I'm afraid.

StorminaBcup · 30/08/2017 15:10

Sorry just seen you've already rejected asos Blush. BooHoo do a small range of maternity occasion dresses like this one. Scroll down for model pic though!

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 15:14

Thanks wonky they have it in stock at a shopping centre near me so I can even go and try it on.
Big yes that's a big issue actually. I'm mostly hoping it doesn't rain (for the bride too obvs). As I can layer with a wrap etc and I'm paying to get my hair done!

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 15:16

Storm not at all! There's bound to be stuff I've missed and I appreciate all suggestions!
Pretty dress from boohoo there and £1.50 for next day delivery, excellent!
