If you were 9m pg and going to a wedding, what would you wear?

Wedding is next week Shock and 'naice'.
I'm very pregnant though not massive. Usually take a 12, bridesmaids are in pink and grey (though I was supposed to be one, so it doesn't exclude these colours).
I'd like something full length ideally- thanks cankles.
And if I could wear a bra with it that'd be a bonus! Budget is pretty small I'm afraid, obvs will only be worn once and maternity allowance doesn't go far.
Please help!

yay its lovely isnt it the pink one. I was looking in the sale myself and remebered it when i seen your post.

I've got a wedding in 3 weeks when I'll be 38 weeks pregnant- After much online hunting I've ended up buying a secondhand maxi dress off eBay for £7! (It was only worn once to a wedding as well), not maternity but 2 sizes up from normal and it ties under the bust and I can wear a bra/flat shoes, double win! I felt I didn't want to spend too much on something I know will get one wear out of!

alltouchedout · 30/08/2017 16:42

This is lovely but £85 is a daft price to pay for a dress which would only be worn once. Also I suppose it could be seen as a bit bridal.

GrumpySusan · 30/08/2017 19:22

It is indeed beautiful alltouchedout and if I had the cash I would go for something just like that (after clearing with the bride!).
mummabubs that's where I got one of my others! I darent risk a normal dress without trying it on now so I think I'm going to have to hope that online orders come in time/fit or the local shopping centre holds something I can make work!

It is definitely a risk buying on eBay, this is the one I've bought so hopefully you'll see what I mean when I say it's a very forgiving style! (Wouldn't have been brave enough to bid otherwise!!)

Have you tried chi chi maternity?

I just got a dress in the sale for a friend's wedding, I'm 6 months post partum though, DS has made my boobs huge so needed a dress to accommodate them & over the shoulders boulder holders.

BuntyCollocks · 30/08/2017 22:00

I've done this! A week before I had DD. I got a lovely stretchy wrap dress from phase 8. Went over bump, and was great for breastfeeding after, and then for work. It was a v thick stretch jersey.

mrpenny · 31/08/2017 00:28

Esmes Dresses on Facebook has some lovely dresses.

Comedyusername · 31/08/2017 00:32

I'd look for an Isabella Oliver dress on eBay. I sold a couple recently for £20-odd. They tend to be stretchy jersey but classy, iykwim.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 31/08/2017 08:32

Oh good, that the wedding is actually closer to the hospital, that's a bonus. Don't do any dancing unless you really want to bring on the birth Wink

Naice village chazzers = another good idea if you can stand it as well. I used to live in a rather downmarket town that was close neighbour to some VERY posh areas of Surrey - so would always go to their chazzers instead, as ALWAYS much better stuff there!

GrumpySusan · 31/08/2017 10:10

Ahh mummabubs that's so lovely! Yes I can see that it should be quite a safe bet too.
I haven't dinosaur as even the ones I saw on ebay were a bit pricey for me, same applies to isabella oliver unfortunately. If I could try it on and know it was OK I wouldn't mind paying 30ish but it's a big risk with the eBay thing, although I could sell on and probably recoup there's a chance I'll lose out and it would take time and I'm rapidly running out of time with my indecision
Thumb yes I think dancing will be off the cards! Walking is proving a bit challenging at the moment!
Im going to head out shopping today or tomorrow- plan is to try naice chazzers first then shops with forgiving normal clothes rather than maternity.
Thanks so much everyone for helping an awkward bugger out and making me think about this differently!

Haha thanks @GrumpySusan, I just wished I looked as good as the mannequin in it- it flows straight down from bump so whilst it looks beautiful from the front from the side I resemble some kind of elephant-hippo hybrid! 😂 I'm just telling myself it's important that the bride is the one in the spotlight on the day so by making myself look ridiculously huge I'm helping her... not that she needs it, stunner she is! Good luck with the shops, hope they provide you with a dress! Xx

GrumpySusan · 31/08/2017 17:36

Just wanted to say an extra thank you to @wonkylegs as I went to Dorothy Perkins today and tried on the dress you posted the link for and bought it!
It's lovely and flattering and more oyster than white so not too bridal!
Make sure you don't get caught by the photographer side on mumma Wink

Yay glad it's lovely,
hope you have a fab uneventful time

GrumpySusan · 01/09/2017 18:15

Me too! I told bump this morning she either comes in the next couple of days or holds off for the wedding (tho prob optimistic thinking I'd go if she was here!)
She responded with some terrifying braxton hicks, backache and sick feeling Shock

Isabella Oliver, I got a great dress from there in the sale I wore for pretty much every smart occasion through two pregnancies! Seraphine also have some lovely ones and can often be nursing as well to get better value!
